Hahahahaha, too good. I can’t really laugh though, at least you have women back in the Midwest… They call it “Man-tana” for a reason…

Thanks for sharing Randy! You a inspiration of what a father should be, for younger future fathers, like me. Now I just have to find a woman willing to date me (understand my fishing addiction) , let alone conceive a child with….

I agree with WalleyeHunter. My 04 Silverado make the same noise. I worked for a GM dealer for a year or so and my lead tech confirmed the slip yoke. I never got around to replacing it before I left, not a major issue.

East Okoboji for eyes this time of year, 8-15ft of water on wide gradual flats. Troll #5-7 silver/black shad raps. From the Barefoot Bar up to the northern point, they are in there thick. I would even just drift and cast shad raps and pound them through there.

Living in Iowa all my life I’d never seen a wildfire other than a prairie burning. There was a fire in the mountains 5 miles from my house, 1400 acres, started on Monday. Came out of work and it looked like that picture. The fires are intense, that’s all I can say. The fire looked dead, no smoke Tuesday morning, the wind picked up and it flared up again. Wednesday night and they are still using 3 helicopters to pour water on it. The whole town was choked with smoke, I actually got in my truck and drove away into the mountains when the wind switched and started smoking my house out.

The Colorado fires look really bad, so close to so many people.

Bigpike- Deerlodge has some nice views, the Flint River (I think?) mountain range to the west is awesome.

It took me a bit to get used to seeing so many people toting handguns around like it’s nothing.

It’s hard to find Old Milwaukee out here so Ranier is as close as it gets. Nothing better than a cooler full of Ranier and Walleye. Best beer has a fishy smell when you drink it!

I’m betting the light had them shut down. I’ve caught walleye in bass baits plenty of times, so I’m betting there is another factor at play here, probably sunlight.

There is a chance the computer in the vehicle needs to be re-programmed and/or the idle relearned. I know Nissan and Chevy are like this. 1996 seems like it may be a bit old to have to do that though. You may have another issue to, a lot of time the computer/code aren’t the exact problem, there is an underlying issue that is causing that code to set.

Bill, Doug, I did end up getting a newer truck with 4×4! I sold pinky to a guy a couple miles from my parents house so she’s working on a farm for the rest of her life! I got a well used 100,000 miles out of her!

Got a 2004 Silverado ext cab w/ the 5.3 liter, she is a mountain goat for sure! Had some 18″ 2010 Silverado Z71 wheels in our shop I threw on, sits up higher to clear rocks/logs and a ton more traction. Much different than old 4cyl 2wd 5spd pinkie!

Wow, those are amazing. If I have an elk 1/2 that size make it’s way into shooting range with my rifle this fall I’ll be taking a shot!

    Awesome pictures!

Randy- It goes without saying, you have a place to stay out here anytime you want to come out. I’ve only been here a couple weeks and I’ve already got some hot spots…

Also FINALLY saw my first herd of elk and heard a couple bugle! Sent chills down my spine!

Speed Trollin’ – Let me know whenever you want to get out, I’ll be ready. I’ve got an extra seat in my boat and I’d love to have some company! I need to make it over to Missoula one of these days to, heard it’s neat!

Speed Trollin – I need to get some bear spray, found out the area I have been fishing in is pretty thick with Griz and a couple people I talked to said I NEED to get some.

Are you still in Missoula right now?

Awesome Chris! Can you fit the horse in the boat to fish with you guys? It’ll give your boat extra “horse power”! Ha, get it, horse power…

When I worked on Crane Lake a couple summers ago we figured out I put somewhere between 400-500 hours on my 1984 35hp Evinrude. That motor is a champ! I outfitted it w/ 3 6gal tanks and would routinely run 30-50 miles 3-4 times a week.

    Man I miss that…

Neighbors up the road had two dogs that would climb out windows to do that, pretty funny! What could be a better place for a dog to sit?!

ecnook – thanks for the quick reply. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about with boat traffic. I was out on that pool over the 4th of July weekend

I’m excited for some lower and hopefully clearer water finally! I’ll be sure to post any results I have, good or bad…

The sad thing about it is any one group of people could boycott Wal-Mart but there are so many people who shop there, it wouldn’t even be a drop in the bucket….

This weekend was move in weekend here at Iowa State, you should have seen the Wal-Mart parking lot….

I share a garage with a girl next door. One morning my landlord called me to let me know someone busted her window and stole her purse. They didn’t take the brand new Ipod right next to it though.

I leave my truck unlocked with nothing in it so I think that paid off as my window was fine. I bet they were disappointing to dig through a bunch of nasty smelly hunting clothes and general crap to find nothing!

They found her purse a week later in a pile of leaves in the neighbors yard over a fence.

My landlord is a Sheriff for the county we live in and he said I am more than welcome to blow his knee caps off with my shotgun, all I have to say in court is “I felt threatened.” Not sure how Minnesota goes but this is fact, what he said goes for Iowa.

How mad would you be if you caught a state record fish like that and because of the government shutdown it couldn’t be verified. Man….

Fishinfreaks, I’ve tried a couple of lubes, no grease, and nothing has changed this reel. It’s not just a bit worse than new, it’s very bad. I can’t cast a normal bass jig more than 12 ft without throwing my arm out… Then when reeling in it feels sloppy and is noisy.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I’ll check into a couple of them!

John- Isn’t that the shaft, I went to buy a new spinning reel the other week and saw the price hike of around $20 per Shimano model and no spare spool!

Found this out about the time I was thinking about trying out the Pflueger President people rave about, so, went with the President!

He probably meant the axle seals are bad, and they think they should replace the rear brake shoes/pads ect….

No whether the pads/shoes really need completely replaced…

I’m not working on the vehicle so I can’t comment.
