Yeah same here. Used to be hard to keep them off of the hook. The water is really low on the Rum and Mississippi in my area. Peltier dam has extreme low water and blue green algae blooms and the fish are dieing off there.

Yeah we catch them but typically only a few a night with jigs and crawlers. We use them for bait for flatheads.

The frozen shiner is LOTW best kept secret but you have to know how to hook them so they don’t fall off.

From what I seen today people are catching fish. Thinking they where using small hair jigs and little blade baits.

They’re very smart for a fish. Just enjoy catching them and releasing them.

Yes that is very important. I’ve caught alot of fish at my feet. Insane watching them take your bait on a full moon. They come out of no where. No need to reel them in just lift up????

Thats what I’ve been doing. Slow and shallow is the key. I pitch parallel along the lock and do well. Over the years I’ve caught the majority with plastics. This is my first year pitching jointed raps on pool 2 but it has caught all of the bigger fish this fall. I love fall walleye fishing!

This is a very old post but also a very good post. I spend almost all my time on pool 2 from shore up to the lock and down to the mouth of the Minnehaha. I use jointed perch raps and white pulse-r’s. I’ve learned alot over the last few years. The later it gets the better it gets especially at night. The colder water temps typically follow with clearer water. This year has been slower so far with dirtier water and not much of a night bite. Since the end of September I’ve caught 9 walleyes and 1 sauger.

On pool 2 the water is still rising. Think it’s at 9.5 ft. Today

I’m having the exact same thing happening in pool 2 right now. The fish are spread out and constantly on the move! There one day gone the next. Another two weeks and I think they will be schooling up better.

It sure has been a odd year for me compared to the last couple. But still catching quite a few fish with jointed perch raps. My biggest so far is a 24 incher and a 22. The big pike are biting as well.

Went out yesterday for 8 hours fishing from shore in Taylors falls. Fished above the dam and below the dam. Only seeing smallmouth. Bite was slow but it was beautiful seeing all the colors changing. I was pitching jointed raps and jig and plastics.

I’m seeing millions of minnows at night. More than I’ve ever seen on pool 2 but no fish. Water is dirty though.

I park up at the top at fort snelling and you do not need a parking pass. If you park at the lower area of fort snelling you need a pass.
