Any P2 Reports?

I can deal with the kayakers down there – most are pretty good. Or, if you ask them to move to launch the boat it’s not an issue.

What chaps my hide are the cars that take up the trailer spots. 11am last Saturday and there are only 2 spots available for trailers. They need some signs down there.

I’m guilty of that but then again I’m launching a boat despite not having a trailer. Hauling the motor, tank, etc down to shore, it’s nice to be parked as close as possible. And I only fish weeknights when there are dozens of empty trailer spots. You’re right, though— seems like a little signage would help.

You get a pass P2F because you are fishing – most of the time it’s people chilling in their cars or just hanging out. I’d actually be fine if they lowered the amount of trailer spots to accommodate the park users but fined people if they parked in the trailer spots. They could start by issuing warnings for awhile.

Another fun afternoon/evening on p2 with my son. Mixed in with the walleye we found another nice pike and a chunky smallmouth. Original and Jointed floaters and jointed shad raps were working for us.

Don’t be afraid to get up close to shore kids!

Good day out there yesterday other than a moron in a Fountain doing about 80 between watergate and the dam. Also, to the guy in the black alumacraft that pulled 50 feet in front of me and cut my trolling run off….you’re also a moron.

Really good mixed bag….crappies are on a tear so I brought some home. Trolling fast downstream picked walleyes and some nice smallies. Jig and minnow got the crappies in the current seams. Water is cooling down so the bite should get better. 65 to 68 where I was at.

Pool 2 was amazing last night. Caught 20 nice eyes (and 5 other things) in 2 hours then picked up the gal and the numbers dropped but the size went up as the sun went down. We caught another 15 or so over 20″ and lost the biggest at the side of the boat 27-29″ best guess. She hardly fishes, I was convinced to was too big to be a walleye so I said don’t worry about doing anything, my shih-poo was sleeping in the net and it made one run at the boat and snapped 14 lb fireline before I could do anything.

I have never seen those numbers of big fish after June on the upper part of the river. Incredible night and lots of fun!!!

I’m sure @DaveB was using a fluoro leader.

I’ll be down Saturday. If you see a guy with his net always out, that’ll be me.

Net? If I used a net I would have had a picture of my big fish!!! I will be down again tomorrow morning. I hope they bite during the day light.

Wow, that’s incredible Dave!i went down tonight for the first time in about a week, on shore, and caught my biggest eye so far this year on that stretch. Healthy 23”. Floating rap on 8lb braid and medium-light fast action rod. Thing had some fight in it- bait just STOPPED, thought it was a snag then felt the fish. Wow. Nothin like shallow-water eyes after dark in beautiful weather.

Wednesday spot had cool off, but still found a strong bite. 35-40 more this morning. Left the dogs at home and let a few in the boat.

Nope, big bbq at Dave’s place.

We had a Vikings/Packer battle today. Vikes won 19-18 on purple cranks vs perch. ????

Handful of eyes, saug, kitty, drums, mooneye, couple sweet craps, morning was good. Shallow before the sun came up, then around 10-12′ cranking and draggin worms.

Will be out later with that mooner soaking for cats, pm or call if ya want in.

Was out most of the day….probably not ideal for the eyes but put a few in the boat. Crappies are on an absolute tear. Find a school and you can pickup a dozen in short order.

Cranks picked up eyes, smallies, crappies, sheepies, pike and this monster. Jig and minnow for the crappies.

Fall I venture north at undisclosed locations ranging from monticello to st.anthony. Husky jerk slow rolling has put some nice fish to shore.

Looking to maybe get some night trolling this weekend, if I do I’ll send out open seats.

Been quiet for me when I’ve been out the last couple weeks. Fish here or there. Mostly upper pool.

This time of year I turn to the St Croix.
