I have a 22′ IC Trophy Hunter and love it. The bunks in the V for the kids is great. I also have a 60″ Queen sized lift bed that is great for my wife and I. This all depends on how big you want to go and if you want a water package. If you want to have a flush toilet then look at a Boss XL as it has a flush toilet and bunks in the V. I just have a dry flush toilet in mine. I did do a custom build and changed some things up over the stock layout of the Trophy Hunter. You can add slide outs and so much now a days. I would suggest to join ICOG Facebook page as its a wealth of knowledge. Look around at all the models you may find one you like better.

I have a 14 sierra with the 6.2 6 speed 3.42 gears and I love the extra power it has while towing but I think the 5.3 would do just fine also. I do put premium in it all the time and its an extra cost. I get about 10mpg while towing the 22′ tandem axel boat and 17′ wheel house. I have stock size duratracts that will effect the mpg’s a bit. With the extra cost of fuel and not much better mpg’s you would be better off with the 5.3. If you love power when you want it and don’t mind the extra cost then go for the 6.2.

Sounds faulty. Return it for another. The menu button should bring up a bunch of options to choose from. Just out of curiosity what happens if you hit the cone angle button. Does the menu button pop up?

    Bring back an old thread.

    King Dinger,

What did you end up buying? I am looking into custom builds and like the Ice Country but my wife likes the Ice Castle Trophy Hunter. Do you like what you got or would you do it differently. Thanks

My routine. Before leaving make sure tires + spare are aired up, have jack to change flat tire, have tool kit with. Once I get to the resort I turn my furnace on while I pay for my road pass (house will be nice and warm when arriving at spot). Ask resort max speed on ice road. Crack a beer, find a good flat spot not too snowed in. Drop house, I put 2×4 under all four corners and at the front V. Make room in house to drill holes ( I use a catch cover slush bucket to keep floors dry), get at least one rattle reel down and crack another beer then bank house real good. Hopefully already have a fish on rattle reel. Get the rest of the lines down. Organize house for the weekend. Then get generator running and house plugged in, relax drink more beer.

I have Baffin Apex on order. Have friends that have Baffin Impacts and love them. Originally ordered the Impacts but they are on backorder until June so I went with the Apex instead. Definitely go one size up if you go with Baffins.

I have a 2017 16GR model and it has been a good house so far. No real major issues. There are some small things that I have fixed but over all for the price I could not pass it up. It pulls very well and the dry weight is only 3800 pounds. Total max loaded weight is 5200 pounds or so. I know the 2019’s do not have the big bay window in the back like I have on mine. I like the bay window but it does get a little cool in the back because of it. The new ones should be nice and toasty warm. The 40,000 BTU furnace will heat it up quick.

I have zero issues with mine. I have fluorocarbon line on mine but it pulls off with no resistance with it set one the lowest setting on the knob on the back of the reel. I would return it and get another.

Beachside is allowing wheel house out. I was just there the last 4 days with my house. I had 19 to 20 inches of ice in there zone 1 area.

I had the same issue. Brought it to Marcum and it ended up being a resistor on the mother board. Got a new transducer also.

For the cost I think people are going to the Helix 5 or 7 as it does almost everything the rt-9 does for cheaper. I am a Marcum guy and loved the idea of the rt-9 when it first came out except for the price but I think the helix is the better deal now. I do like the fact that if you fish with a camera the rt-9 can over lay it onto your graph or flasher dial and you have the best of all 3 worlds. If that is your intent to use a camera then the rt-9 is you best option. I just don’t use my camera much so I went with the lx-7.

You can get the lithium shuttle from Marcum or energized outdoors or Dakota lithium are the 3 most people use.

Gain 1 under 10′ gain 2 everything else is my understanding for ice fishing. I set all setting at zero and start adjusting sensitivity first until I can see my jig then go to target adjust if needed. Only do one setting at a time.

I have the aluminum model now with the double brush. Definitely get the double brush. The steel model rusted pretty bad after 2 winters and only about 8 trips north. It knocks down a ton of debris. Not all but alot.

Thanks I will probably get the aluminum. Thanks for all the responses.

My next question is what Towtector are people useing. Tier 2 of 3? Aluminum or powered coated? Can you get by with a tier 2 or is the tier 3 that much better?
    Thanks again for you advice.

I recently bought a wheelhouse and had a similar question for the forum just a couple weeks back. Here’s the thread with people’s opinions.

    Rock Guards

Awesome thanks for the info. I did a search and missed your theard, need to open eyes more haha. Thanks again.
I am most worried about entering and exiting the lake but sounds like all will be good just go slow and take it easy I guess.

Does anyone here run Goodyear DuraTracs? They look to be a more agressive tread for the All Terrain class (I’m assuming they’d wear a bit faster than other ATs).

I’ve had good luck with Goodyear tires on all vehicles. I may consider these as a next set on the one older truck that is the <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>ice fishing and plowing machine.

I run DuraTracs and love them so far. I have 30,000 miles on them right now and are barley worn. I got them at Discount and you will need to rotate often. I rotate every 5000 since its free. They are quite for an aggressive tread not stock quite but they do not hum like others I’ve heard.

I took it a few steps farther for my CC’s and got black spray foam at Ace and insulated the bottom side so now they do not sweat in the winter on the holes you do not use plus I took thin door weather strip foam and stuck it on the bottom side to seal it up tight so nothing will get through when traveling down a wet road. Probably a little overkill but it was cheap and easy enough to do.

I was there last Thursday to Sunday and there are some pretty good drifts out there before the snow they just got. Lots of trucks were getting stuck. I would bring a sled if you can or wheeler with chains. Ice was about 35″ or so and in great shape. Fishing on the other hand was the worst I have had it. We had sleds and portables. We moved and moved and moved and could not find the perch. Had some luck on walleye for about a 15-20 min window on north six mile bay in 14-15 fow at first light. We tried East Devils, North six mile, Patience point and by the towers in all depths and types of structure. It was some tough fishing but we still had a blast. We did hear of some people finding some perch so they are out there someplace. Lots of water for them to hide. Good luck

I was having same problem after always putting ducer just below the water line. It ended up being a problem with the motherboard sending a weak signal. Dropped it off at Marcum and they fixed it and gave me a new ducer just to be on the safe side. There is a test you can preform to see if you have a weak signal. Look it up on youtube, Marcum has a video posted on how to do it.

Just an update for my problem. I got my LX7 back from Marcum, they said it was a bad ducer core which caused a short in some of the components on the motherboard. I will give it a try this weekend on Mille Lacs.

Thanks for the tips. We stayed out on Cyrus’s road. We were sitting on 35″ of ice and were 1.1 miles our over the island and had the ice shift us about a foot to the south as a pressure ridge formed right off shore on the road. Needless to say my wife did not care to much for that hahahahaha. Cyrus had a new road plowed shortly after and all was good. The fishing could have been better but we still caught fish. My 2 yr old caught his first walleye jigging all by himself so a proud papa moment right there.

I believe the jiffy propane augers can only be laid down with only a certain handel facing up. Otherwise the oil leaks into to air box and makes a mess. It should say this side up on one of the handles. My uncle’s jiffy propane did this to him also. His is a few years old don’t know if things have changed in the newer models.
