Did you check your circuit breaker? Sounds like a low battery since lights are 12V and maybe furnace is operating off 12V also if it isn’t getting AC current.

Thanks Andy. We did call the DNR on Saturday and left a voicemail. They called us back today and gave us the date.

Montana application-the application calls for the date your hunter safety card was issued. My son’s MN card only has his birthdate on it. Montana says the date is mandatory. What have others done? Thank you!

Thank you for the post Dan. Welcome home to my Brothers and Sisters! I served in the First Cav as a UH-1 helicopter pilot in 1970-71 at Bien Hoa Army Base. It was very rewarding supporting my heroes, the grunts. We always did our best to get them where they needed to go and get them resupplied. Sometimes we delivered hot food, sodas, ice and even ice cream. Thanksgiving and Christmas were very special days delivering hot food to those on patrol wherever possible. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I believe duck season has ended in MN.

In over 50 years of shooting black powder I never had that issue.

Gunsmith Arms just north of Hastings does consignment sales at a lower charge than Bill’s. Jimmy lists on Gunbroker and Armslist. He charges 15 percent or a minimum of $50.

Be sure you are fishing on the WI side of the river if you are using sunfish as gamefish are not legal bait in MN waters.

Their website shows a video how to do it. Sometimes doing a little research is good.

To clarify, in WI the blaze orange requirement only applies to public lands.

When in doubt, consult the US Coast Guard Regulations. Their navigation regs for Western Rivers, including the Mississippi and its tributaries, Part B, I, Rule 9-Narrow Channels, (c) A vessel engaged in fishing shall not impede the passage of any other vessel navigating within a narrow channel or fairway. This section also addresses other conflicts in narrow channels, but is very specific about fishing boats.

Chuck, the Mississippi at La Crosse is just over 6 feet. I’d say over the last 5 years it’s been around 5-6 during most of the summer. So it’s running a little faster than normal if anything. You shouldn’t have any trouble at all. Good luck!

Thanks for posting this Sharon. Far too many forget the meaning of this special day. Thank you to all those that gave their lives to protect our freedom. You are remembered.

Thank you for your kind words. If you please, the next time you meet a Vietnam Veteran, say simply “Welcome Home”.
We didn’t hear that when we did come home. It might be the first time they ever heard it.
    Thank you.

    Welcome Home Brothers and Sisters!

In over 25 years of fishing there, I have found that what is happening on the Mississippi River in the St. Louis area has a great impact on Leech Lake’s water level. If they need more water down there, more water is released from Leech and that can lead to low water levels during the summer even though the year started at a decent level. It looks like the Leech area still has a 15″ snow depth, so the year should start pretty well.

I don’t know if you’re a hunter or not, but the monovision drove me nuts. Looking around a tree one way was ok, but if you looked around the tree the other way it was out of focus! That caused me to get rid of them.

My experience with a Barrett bolt-action .50 BMG is that it really is a push back instead of a kick. I’d rather shoot that than a big game rifle that really has a heck of a kick. I believe it’s a slower burning powder in a .50 BMG that results in a push rather than a kick.

Like I said, read the regulations. You follow the rules of the state whose waters you are fishing in. If you are fishing on the MN side, you follow MN rules. If you are fishing on the WI side you follow the WI rules. Carry the regulation book with you or download it to your phone and you can show it to anyone who challenges you. We have too many sportsmen who don’t read the regulations. Enough said.

If you read the fishing regulations, you’ll find if you’re fishing boundary waters you need to have the license of the state you reside in. If a Minnesota resident, you need a Minnesota license. You don’t need a Wisconsin license if you’re fishing on that side, but be sure to read the regulations to see the details.

I recommend everyone do their own research. Dakota Lithium are LiFePO4. Obviously they have done research on this also.

LiFEPO4 is the better choice as Don stated above. I use them for ice fishing and amateur radio.

How about a normal shed? It’s something you’ll need anyway as you develop your land. Just make sure you make it larger than what you think you’ll need.

I like the Plano boxes because it’s so easy to find what I want and the correct color. The boxes where you hang from the hooks take a lot more time to find what I want.

Bill’s Gun Shop sells guns on consignment for 20% of selling price. No worries as they have lots of customers coming thru all the time and they do all the paperwork. It saves a lot of stress meeting unknown people and worrying about who you are selling to and things coming back to bite you.

I have an older auger (Strikemaster Lectra Lazer). I use a 12 volt 9 AH battery from Bioenno.
