A guy walked into the sporting goods store and was approached by the salesperson with the usual question “can I help you…?”

The guy said “I’d like a new fishing rod and reel for my wife…”

The salesperson replied, “Sorry, but we can’t take trade-ins…”

The most belly aching I’ve noticed comes from the professional tournament type fisherman… Simply stated, the professional tournament organizers need to make a decision, that being “is FFS able to be used or not” during said tournament…

In Wisconsin this Spring. Question #22 specifically asks the voter if “FFS should be banned from all Wisconsin waters…” Should this lead to law changes, I really hope we don’t see a slippery slope towards looking backwards at fishing technology we also use such as GPS/Mapping/Waypoints,
GPS guided trolling motors, along with other sonar features such as SI/DI technology…

Personally, I wish people would just fish in their own boat, and I’ll fish out of mine… I won’t care what you do in yours, don’t concern yourself what I do in mine, “unless we are breaking the law…” Thats another rant…

If you are susceptible to car sickness/motion sickness, you might want to reconsider doing “The Road to Hanna Highway…” Unless you trust Dramamine to cover for you…

My doses didn’t “cover for me”, the trip was “miserable” to say the least, considering I was outside the tour van 7 time throwing up on the first leg of the tour…

The smart asses I was travelling with bought me a t-shirt that read “I survived The Hanna Highway…”

    In my view, “Just barely…”

    Be careful out there…!

The Feds need to crack down on these spam/hackers/financial thieves, and the best way I could come up with would be simple to incorporate, and it would bring immediate results…

This would require an investigation with the proof showing that the case originates from somewhere outside the USA… It would also require people in Washington DC “with the balls” to create legislation…

I’d call the bill, “The No Action, No US Foreign Aid Bill…”

We would need to inform the countries where these type of activities are originating from that until they put an immediate stop to these criminal organizations business operating inside their country, that the USA will withhold any/all foreign aid money packages to them…

Some of these countries are in “dire need of US money flowing into their country…” They couldn’t afford to not cooperate…

Foreign aid should be doled out after the US has taken care of its own needs first…

On another note, maybe the US should tell the countries that the scammers are operating from, that their aid money given to them annually will be withheld until they effectively shut the scammers capabilities down… Kinda like when Biden told a particular country that he’d wasn’t gonna release their monies unless they fired a certain prosecutor, which they did… I think you’d see the same fast results…

The only news I watch is our local news out of Eau Claire… Unless there is a big story on the national level, that doesn’t include politics… I hated how it appeared that major news media had become an arm of political parties, and have avoided them ever since…

Try Scent Killer…You know, the stuff hunters spray on their clothes…
The company used to claim they would spray it in the factory when they had overfilled bottles of skunk scent…???

I simply change the transducer from a summit mount used for ice fishing, to a brew city mount/pole setup for summer use… I mounted aluminum sliding mounts on the gunwale, like those you would use to mount downriggers, and can move the transducer about the boat with ease… I keep my Helix 9 mounted on the ice box I built, and have a very efficient, portable unit… But luckily, i was able to fork out the cash…

I’m like to convince a buddy to put the same sliding mounts on his boat so we can bring it along when we use his boat..

Years ago, I went to the local hobby store and bought a yellow colored “paint pen”, and simply printed name, addresss and phone number on my black portable shack…It has lasted well over the years… Today, I would only put my DNR Customer Number on any shack…

I know this doesn’t apply to the original request, but here is another list of Chippewa Falls area baits shops, besides Mouldy’s in Lake Hallie…

You can also try the BP Station next to the courthouse on North Bridge Street…They advertise live bait, not sure about minnows though…

Try Jacobson’s Hardware Store on Central Street, but also try at their Lake Wissota store along CTH “J”… They do have minnows year round…

If travelling further north, you can check out the Jim Falls Cenex Station…They have a bait shop area inside, but again, not so sure about minnows…

Sad to hear of this incident…

I took an unexpected head first dive out of the front of my boat 2 weeks ago, without my life jacket on “cuz it’s too cumbersome to fish with it on…” Where have you heard that lame ass excuse before…?

I now own an auto inflatable vest, and don’t even know I have it on when fishing…”Spendy purchase, but worth every penny…!”

It’s also a good idea to make a plan in advance as to “how are you gonna get back into your boat if you end up in the water…” And practice/test it some day when the fishing is really slow… If you got a ladder, try it out… If you don’t, try using your power trim/tilt button to lift yourself up to make boarding from the rear of the boat easier… Knowing you can get back in the boat safely will help reduce the panic…

Take said item to your local police department…Not everybody locally is a member of this site, and if this item was yours, and “you’d be sick about it”, wouldn’t you be checking at your local police department to see if someone found it and turned it in to them…? “Stop playing the game, do the right thing and turn it in…”

I just put a Helix 9 on the dash of my 2004 Alumacraft Magnum 175CS…It replaced a Humminbird 899, that was set up on a Johnny Ray mount…

The 899 would always have to be turned toward the left side of the console due to the locator hitting the windshield…

When I installed the Helix 9, there was no way the Johnny Ray mount would allow it to fit inside the windshield, so I switched over to a RAM mount…

Due to its ability to “shift/pivot”, there is now more than enough room for the Helix 9, and I believe I could even now fit a Helix 12 on the dash…

Check out the RAM mounts…You just may take care of your issue…

I had checked out the bait coolers, and ended up deciding I could make my own using an old insulated Coleman cooler I had in the rafters…Drilled a hole high up in one end, pulled the air hose through it, connected to a long, wide air stone, connected my Frabil ac/dc air pump to it, and it will do the same job as the more expensive Frabil’s/Engel’s bait coolers at a fraction of the cost…Gonna work real good for musky suckers in the fall…

Only in America, can you find people complaining about something being done legally by another person…

Maybe you’ll all be happier when your State closes down the winter panfish season like they do for game fish, and then have a season opener a month later than usual… Or worse yet, to also create a slot size protecting all panfish, stating that all gills over 8″, crappies over 10″, perch over 8″ “shall be released…?”

Sometimes, “its best to be careful of what you wish for…”

I’m more concerned that there is a rum dumb in the big chair, that has been very busy with his ink pen writing executive orders, that needs to please the anti gun crowd based on promises that were made to them during the campaign… He knows that if he doesn’t, there will be a risk that they won’t support for him next time around…

And now, with a Democrat controlled House, and with a 50/50 split Senate, his VP selection would cast the tiebreaker along party lines…

Don’t just pass this off as “it’ll never happen…”, cuz if does, “it’ll be too late…!”

I always felt that a person with a video camera, stationed at a busy boat landing on the opening day of fishing season. would be able to make a spin-off of America’s Funniest Home Videos…

While working Sheriff’s Boat Patrol years ago, I also saw more than enough people fall flat on their backsides onto their trailer frame while walking on it, trying to connect to their boat…The local chiropractors must’ve been busy that following day…!

I’ve had to do this “numerous times” since the first part of December… Suddenly lost the ability to post anything in that same time frame for about a 1 week stretch…Grandkids said they’d bet that “I must have been sent to the notorious hellhole known as FB Jail” for some transgression…??

Now, I’ve had to sign back in again the middle of this past week again…It sure seems to me like they’re playing some sort of silly game… I have quite a few friends on FB that have noticed that they also have had to repeatedly sign back in…

I know it’s “their site”, and I consented to follow their rules, but, as Joe would say, “C’mon man…!” This is getting ridiculous…

Looks like graph full size/RTS/graph zoom/RTS…

I have a 899 Humminbird, and RTS stood for REAL TIME SONAR…It was an “on or off” feature…

Is RTS now known as “water column…?

I just fished for walleye in Mn this past week with a group of 4 guys…I thought your posted limits of 3 fish, one over 18″ was a very fair way of doing things… We only caught 1 fish over 18″, 1 that was 17″, the rest were 16′ and under…

Of the 4 of us, nobody caught their limit, and we took home 3 fish total…

Where I live and fish for walleye, it’s also a 3 fish limit, but there is a slot limit in place that allows you to keep either 3 walleyes under 14″, or, 2 walleyes that are under 14″ along with 1 walleye over 18″…

Now, if you want to catch and kill walleyes under 14″, have at it…”It’s not for me…!”

Be careful of what you’re asking for…

I recently purchased a Marcum Quest camera kit from Scheel’s, and upon opening the box, I couldn’t get a picture on the screen…Everything else, (temp, directional arrow, etc) on the screen appeared, just no picture…

I called the store, spoke to the sales person, and he said, “lets try it again…” By God, the picture showed up just like it was designed to… Feeling like a dork, I told him was was “really good at fixing my issue with the camera”, and hung up…

I turned the camera off after a short while to eat supper, and took “the boss of me” downstairs to show her how the new toy worked, and “Old Murphy” showed up, and the camera wouldn’t display a picture again…!

I took it back to Scheel’s the next morning, and spoke with the salesperson who had helped me, and he set it up on the counter, plugged in the battery, and turned it on… While holding my breath, and maybe praying a bit too, the camera would not display a picture for him…

The salesperson told me that “Scheel’s is gonna make this right for you”, and he simply told a coworker to go get a second camera kit, opened it up, tested it to make sure it worked correctly, (which it did) and accompanied me to the service counter checkout, and said “have a great day…!”

“Scheel’s did make it right for me…

Now to speak for Marcum Tech Support, I had an issue with a new LX7 that stopped working…After speaking with a tech, and getting the repair authorization info, it was shipped back to them, and the morning of the 4th day after shipping, it was delivered to my door in perfect working condition…

I got no complaints with them or their service…

The key to this is to lay a few wraps of thread on the blank first, lay the spring bobber where you want it, and then finish the thread wraps… The thread on the blank will provide a little grip for the spring bobber…Done it this way for years without issues…

I’ve made my own spring bobbers using 27 lb single strand leader wire, and either an orange or chartruese colored styrofoam float like those used for crawler rigs.. It really helps when you’ve got older eyes…
