“I prefer the smaller ones and twitch of the rod tip not rips!”
What size are “the smaller ones”, Bob?

I’ve fished Vermillion for over 30 years, almost exclusively on the east side. My buddy, who has fished with me for all of those years, finally bought a place on Vermillion two years ago, but on the west side. We haven’t had as much luck on the west side YET, and still make the run to the east side most of the time. We should hire a guide and try to learn the west side more. You can match the lake for beauty, but it’s hard to beat. My favorite MN lake, hands down.

You could be right, for all I know, reddog. My buddy doesn’t have access to check since the boat is up north and he’s in Florida. But, the guy he bought it from a couple of years ago doesn’t think it does.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea of where can you find the ” current clean republic standard charger” and one that will put out 5 amps?
I know Thorne Bros has both the Dakota and the Amped chargers for $20.
    Thanks again!

Cool! If they have that deal next weekend at the Blaine show or at the St. Paul show in Dec, I’ll jump on it.

“I was just using it again today and thought about that exact thing as the smallmouth in the river I was using it in where NUTS for it!”

Same size and color slender spoon?

    Thanks, blank.
Great information. The 70 lb thrust max makes up my mind to go for the Terrova…as well as the spring assist, since I’m no spring chicken anymore. I also noticed that the Power Drive shaft length does not go to 60 inches, only 50 and 54 inche shafts.
I appreciate the reply and info.

What is the difference between the top of the line Power Drive and the Terrova….pros and cons? I have a Lund Pro V 1775 tiller I would mount one of them on. I’ve been looking at the Terrova/IPilot with link/, but they are expensive.

Go to Clear Waters Outfitting in Clearwater. They rent a few different kinds of fishing kayaks as well as canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. They also sell them. Try before you buy on a float down the river. Fantastic smallie fishing there.

On my recent visits to Cabelas in Rogers, I’ve commented how about the decline in the quality of goods and of service and of the demise of the Bargain Cave. Each and every one of the employees that I talk to have told me they keep hearing that time and time again from their customers. I have found the employees at Gander Outdoors to be much more friendly and helpful as well as being easier to find ask questions.
Gander Outdoors, Fleet Farm and Thorne Brothers are my go-to’s now.
I used to go to the the Cabelas in Rogers at least weekly to check out The Bargain Cave. While I was there I would always make purchases from the store and The Bargain Cave. No good reason to go back there now.

Those are cool pics. I had Big Bird (sandhill crane) strolling around my back yard yesterday. I also have coyotes and foxes back there and once had a coydog (dog/coyote mix) show up at night for a year or two.
I love this time of year.

    Tom,
Why did you switch from the Clam plate to the Kovac?
    Thanks,

“Has anyone used the tie-knot tool to tie slip bobber knots right on the line?”

    Yes, it works great.
I also like the tie fast tool. I use it all of the time for fluoro to braid and braid to mono.

    Great picture, Gary.
There are a couple of dealers near the Twin Cities, where I live and one in my hometown of Watertown, SD. I’m going to have to do a test ride with one.

They are not legal in MN. They are in many others like South Dakota and Wisconsin, if I’m not mistaken.

Being from South Dakota, I don’t think you’re going to get too warm of weather there. But, it is usually a little warmer in southern SD than northern SD, where I grew up (Watertown). What is the forecast?
    Good luck!

What are you using to prevent the auger from deattaching from your drills, regardless of which drill you’re using?

Thanks for all of the input on the drills and augers, guys. Special thanks to DTro for his videos!
After his last video, I think I’ll keep the Rigid I just bought. I wasn’t sure after his first one.
I’ll be using a Strikemaster Lazer 7 inch auger with it.
