Anyone own or used one of these? Local bait shop dealer has a couple to sell. Said he watched someone use one at Okabojii and had to get one! http://www.icegator.com. I will use the 6″.

RD, Have John give you Matt’s phone # so you talk to him and maybe try and drill a few holes with the one he has.I’m sure Matt would help you out.

Not trying to be a smart but or start anything, but if he’s anything like the rest of us he fishes it from one end to the other. The fish are all over that lake it only takes a little searching to find them and figure them out.The fun part of fishing is going out on the water and searching and being rewarded for your efforts at the end of the search.I wouldn’t myself feel like much of a fishermen if I needed allot of details from someone else that did all the work in finding and figuring them out,I like the challenge.

My advice for the crappies would be to slooow troll with 2 way crappie rigs with lively minnows.Run these rigs at different depths.Work the fast drops and points where the chanel breaks for the other side.Like Herb said Put in structure allot. It’s allot of work but it pays of for years.I put an x in the places I would sink some hard wood trees and tried to circle the places I would start slow trolling. Hope this helps. [image]http://images.snapfish.com/34439<3923232%7Ffp3%3B%3Dot>2337%3D<34%3D<%3B%3B%3DXROQDF>2323949%3A93662ot1lsi[/image]

Joe, The best way to get to know the I/O members is by going over there and meet them tomorrow. Most of us went in to the main ramps at noon for grub and meeting others. It’s sopose to be the same time tomorrow,so come on out.Me and a few others will be up in the north arm by the ramps in green Eskimo Quick Flip II tents.

I’ve sneaked in them pits many years back (when I was a little punk kid ) goffing off and they were very un-safe !!! There are a ton of springs in them, there was cracks in the ice that were 12+” and allot of open holes all over. You have to walk about three city blocks back to them and when you do you’ll be trespassing. The CR police Dept. will make sure you know that for the helicopter flies over them all the time. What ever you chose be careful if you try there.

John, I got on McBride Thursday and Friday. In some places the ice is real thin and some places it’s 6″.Hit Belva Deer today and killed the big gills there.

Ponds are good but the wind and waves have killed what ice that was on PC,MacBride and the other big lakes.

I have both the FL8 & FL18.When I go to buy another one I will deffently pay the extra 100. for the FL18 again. The 9-19 degree duel beam, bottom lock and zoom are well worth the extra money.

Jon,I have the 6″ model.I haven’t ran it dead but I know I drilled over 40 holes in ice 12″ thicker.I’d say it way about 20 – 25#’s.Ther’s also a level bubble on top in the center to help you know your drilling a straight hole in thick ice too.

The only boat ramps usable are located at Mehaffey Bridge and at the West Overlook Campground. You might want to check the MacBride ramp on your way.The fishing has has been a real tough bite on the res. if your looking for crappie.Cats are biteing fairly good.

Guys, most of the crappies we have caught out there this last week and weekend haven’t spawned yet.Sunny-warm-days,we was catching them in water 2-8′.On the cloudy-cool-days we would move out from them water depths and slow troll 9-19’of water. The fish seem to hang more around 8-13″ down.We was sloooow trolling (hardly moveing)tube jigs tipped with gulp grubs and two way crappie rigs with minnows. We would also throw twister tails now and then when we run in to a good school of them. They seem to favor dark colors with fleck in them.We were catching around 50-75 some days more, but would only bring home 10-20 of them, not hunting for meat just some to eat.Not bad catches for 4-6 hours. Hope this helps you guys out there.
