Kayl- I’ve stuck my hands down the ice hole with those gloves on and stayed dry. They are not probably 100% waterproof but are a perfect glove to stay warm and still have some function with your hands with them on

Oh, they’re definitely waterproof until you catch a treble hook :-/

I’m really happy with my Fish Monkey Fingerless gloves, haven’t tried their other ones yet.

Striker stealth gloves. Best waterproof gloves I’ve owned.

    <div class=”ido-oembed-wrap”>Stealth Gloves</div>

Only issue is that they pick up hooks easily and then aren’t waterproof. Otherwise they’re great.

Nine times out of ten, i start with the middle size pinhead and throw it down baitless. If I cant get them to go on that, I throw down a Bull Spoon with a VMC bladed treble with no bait. If I absolutely have to I’ll add maggots. But I havent used minnows for crappie in years.

I’m impressed that you get them to chow the 1/8oz pinhead! What size Bull Spoon do you like?

I bought the cheap one and a frost and do not care for either compared to my 13 fishing freefalls. The cheapest piscifun has the spool on the right side, so I can feather it with my pinky, but the release trigger is way off to the left. The frost has the trigger where it should be, but the spool is on the left side, so you can’t feather as easily. I will give them another trip, but I don’t think I’m keeping them, for the price, I’d rather spend a little more and get another free fall.

Sunline is made in Japan and is very good line. Clam is definitely marking it up on their end, but it’s good line.

Do you all still use a flasher or sonar with livescope or just live scope. Just pieced together a panopix ps22 for my 73cv and was curious if that was all I needed ro carry or just to locate the fish and switch. Appreciate it.

For me it depends on the bite and day. I do not hole hop with livescope very often. I’ll bring it and my marcum m5 and use the marcum once we’ve narrowed down water and set up if we’re hole hopping around structure.

I’ve done some dropshotting and it will definitely work. I tried this rig I saw on youtube and really liked it:

    Ive been using the MarCum
    PanCam.

Thanks, Several mixed reviews on that discontinued model. I have an older Marcum but was looking to update to the Pursuit model, depending on the feedback I might gather from actual users.

I have an Aqua Vu Micro Revolution 5 Pro, but if I were looking to upgrade, the Pursuit would be my choice for a small cam. Nick Linder has a lot of videos on Youtube with it and the image quality is awesome!

Looks pretty cool and a lot smaller than the finicky fooler 365s for a summer canoe trip! Let us know how they are!

“hey” makes a good point, if it was connected all week in the garage and then taken out and it ran for only 7 hours that can make sense with the leech power draw of the black box all week, if it was fully charged and then ran for only 7 hours at 50% brightness it’s likely a deteriorating battery…

Yes, you need to make sure you don’t leave the black box connected.

Picked up a couple of these from Fleet Farm yesterday; I have been using carbon rods on my hook setters; didn’t realize that they might “blow up” in the cold.

The Eskimo Sierra Thermal is 82#, the Wide One Inferno is 62#. I bet if you don’t install (or pull out) the second seat in the Sierra Thermal that it’s not much more than than 70#. Not a huge weight penalty for the extra fishable space (22.5sq ft vs 14.8sq ft). I have a lightweight one man thermal and wish I’d gotten a 2 man shack just for the space.

The jacker and fooler are completely different, but that dock demon is indestructible. For a application like that it’s perfect. I use any of my custom rods on the fooler. Just because it’s virtually a dead stick and I use them mainly for walleye. So I like having a good rod and reel to battle the fish

The Finicky Fooler hooksetter can be run like you do or a jawjacker. It’s a pretty cool design!

Used mine today, froze in, just needed to use my heel to break out the slush/ice around it. Still happy with it! )

Instead I’ll be looking for a couple Dakota’s or Norske’s and Marcum has lost a customer.

Give Amped Outdoors a gander; their customer service has always been very responsive for me.

I have an Aqua Vu Micro Revolution 5 Pro, but now that Marcum has the Pursuit HD I would probably go with the Marcum. Nothing wrong with my Aquavu, but HD would be nice!

I only had the mesh style for last season, but really like it a lot.

Follow-up: The replacement parts from Summit pole broke again on my first ice outing this year. The material used in these parts is brittle and weak when in single-digit temperatures and below – not capable of withstanding any repeated forces applied as when clicking the transducer from forward to down and back again.

However, in trying to ‘MacGyver’ the Summit pole into service again I stumbled across a solution that provides the best of both worlds. I found that the short 6 inch piece from the original Garmin mount – the one with the screws sticking out of the end to which the transducer is to be affixed – is a perfect match for the bottom of the Summit pole. The screws and pole diameter are the exact same size. When in life does this ever happen?

Simply screw the original Garmin mounting piece into the bottom of the Summit pole, re-attach the transducer using the original Garmin bracket, and you have the best of both worlds.

Here’s a picture of the Summit pole pieces that shattered in cold weather, along with the newly fixed Summit pole with the Garmin transducer mount piece attached.

Hope this helps somebody having the same problem.

I’d reach out to Summit again, perhaps they had a bad run or improper mixture of materials? I’ve yet to have any problems with mine in the cold..

Same here, and that includes a couple of below 0 days.

Earbud style hearing protection by Walker’s Game Ear is probably your best choice for the shotgun stuff. For deer hunting consider buying a suppressor for your rifle. They aren’t cheap and you need to jump through some hoops, but they will help protect your hearing. Fun fact, even though guns are highly restricted in Great Britain, suppressors are widely used (maybe even required) for hunting. I wish they didn’t have the hollywood stigma here; they are nowhere near as quiet as movies would have you believe, but they definitely protect your ears!

18aH would be my recommendation with that bundle. I built my own before the 18aH was a thing and use a 10aH and 12aH wired in parallel for 22aH total power. Haven’t run out in a day yet.

    Glad its working for you,
but if you are going to parallel batteries they really should be identical
(10 and 12AH wont give you 22AH when put in parallel).
not trying to be a Richard, just FYI for others thinking of doing this.

Interesting, Amped Outdoors said differently when I asked if that was ok. I actually have another 10aH that I chose to put in a camera because I wanted as much power for Livescope as I could get!

Any Dakota lithium battery deals out there , bulk group deals ?

Just buy amped outdoors. (And this is coming from a guy who ran a Dakota group buy!)

I have two amped batteries and one Dakota lithium and they all work the exact same. Amped is very responsive to any questions you might have via FB messenger.

The new BlueTipz flex are much better than the older ones. I haven’t had any issues with them at all, while the old ones would fail in the cold sometimes. I think it had to do with the coin cell battery. If you do have those issues, get in contact with BlueTipz, their customer support is great!

They’re awesome! They pack down nice and small and work great. You can easily go from using them with big suckers for pike to crappie minnows for crappies and gills. It’s super easy to adjust the tension.
