Are they on the protected species list or hunting regulations in Wisconsin? Do you think they escaped from a farm?

    .

The WDNR is establishing a herd east of BR Falls. If you are a resident you can apply for a tag to hunt elk in WI. There are only 8 tags allowed and 4 go to the tribes. There is a bigger herd near Clam Lake, WI. Rumor has it there are a few harvested on the reservation year round.

The Vikes did well in my opinion. I agree JJ might be the best prepared for the NFL because of Michigan’s system. Time will tell.

EPG you should be careful. Pilfering a state sign is 1 thing. The one for the bear could be a Federal Offense. whistling

I’m sure winters have something to do with the deer herd population decline, but we had severe winters 30 years ago and still had tons of deer. The decline chart started to fall off a cliff when the wolf population went up and the DNR handed out doe tags like they were penny candy at a parade. JMO

And the DNR is too proud or arrogant to admit their mistakes.

Yeah it may have changed and I haven’t looked lately to check. It doesn’t apply to me. My buddies groups stands have all been there for decades and they merely replace boards etc. They haven’t built a new one in eons. Having said that the last several years have been very bad for them. No deer! Wolves and cougars are taking care of them.

Just curious if the MDNR has the same “scientific” response as the WDNR on the lack of deer in the northern part of both states. Wisconsin’s is that wolves have a very minimal impact on the deer population. The major issue causing the deer population being down is the multiple “severe” winters. whistling doah

I would make a vertical transducer board that would cover the 3 lowest holes. 5200 in all holes and the whole outside border of the board and mount the board with screws above the water line. 5200 around the board mounting screws also.

Stands, blinds, cameras just blow them up and leave the debris. It’s the new DNR disposal method.

I don’t have a problem with the wood busted all to h3[[, but these were on trailers it was stated earlier. So that means we now have chunks of iron and tires in every direction. And no one has an issue with that other than me. doah

Maybe give all the wardens a wake boat to tool around and check licenses also.

DNR do what I say but the laws don’t apply to me. whistling

man i sure could go for a good old fashioned Legion smelt fry….love”em. that and the tater salad!!!!

In the mid-1980s the local legion in the town I won’t name had discontinued its smelt fry because of supply and cost issues. 4 old duffers all in their 80s that were coffee drinking acquaintances of my dad at the local cafe approached him with their tale of woe.

All of them would live miserable lives and die broken men if they couldn’t have a smelt fry every year. They were all too old to fish them and clean them. The work was too hard. The paths too long and steep. They would all die smeltless,

Or perhaps dad could save them? 2 or 3 pails full. Or 4 would be better.

So off we went to the smelt lake, dad recruited the neighbors and we got after them in late March. 2 at a time on ice flies and half a wax worm. As fast as you could pull them up but getting the fly down to 50 feet was what took the longest.

We were there about an hour and here come the 4 codgers trudging across the ice. Risking life and limb to check on dinner. So Dad pressed them into service at the gutting table. 3 hours later they had their buckets full. Salvation was theirs. Almost.

We were packing up and the lead codger says to my dad, “Say, Michael, your wife makes the best potato salad does she not?”

Dad. “Hand me the fillet knife, son. I’m about to commit a murder.”

The lead codger was not deterred. “Could she just bring some to Ted’s garage about 6.00? That’s where we’ll be frying the smelt.”

And now the best part. Almost as a whisper, the lead codger says, “We don’t need too much. Tell Val a gallon and a half is fine.”

ONLY a gallon and a half.

Didn’t they used to torch fish houses left out past the removal date?

Burning it would leave less of a mess in my opinion.

I doubt if the DNR would allow an owner of a stand to use dynamite for removal.

Well I started my search this afternoon after work. After checking at both the ford dealer and the Toyota dealer I know I’m not going to enjoy this search much at all. Looked at a few used ford rangers. After the sticker shock wore off, I asked to see any new 2024 models, the salesmen laughed. Said they have not had a new Ranger on the lot in weeks. I asked if any 2023 holdovers. Got a 2nd bigger laugh.

I would find another dealer. I’d laugh and walk out the door. Some dealers have not moved out of the covid years where the sales pitch
“Was take it at that price or someone else will” They can kiss moon

Everyone on this site complains about slobs/dirtbags that leave garbage on the ice, garbage at shore fishing spots, trash in the water, etc. BUT since its a permanent stand on public land it’s OK to leave the trash in the woods?????

    ??? shock waytogo

That is just wrong. I’m sure the DNR would not allow the general public to blow up a stand and just leave the residue/trash behind. Someone should lose their job over this decision. JMO

If you run e85 in them you get like 30 more wheel hp too. I’m skiddish of that though since my last truck freaked out when I ran it and I almost had to have it towed. Once the computer figures it out it’s fine but holy Hannah I had lights and it wouldn’t run right. It takes like 10 miles for it to figure it out I’m told

Had cars that ran fine on e85 but had problems when switching back to regular. Made them hard to start.

Just like pricing a motel room. Price listed $129 a night. By the time fees, taxes, etc. are added you’re paying $190 a night. doah
