Whatever. You seem to be off base with your assumption that this was some kind of scientific analysis of fishing trends and the current marketplace.

Unclench a little. I’m just having a bit of fun with this thread based on my recollections.

So we’ve now established that there are at least two guys still spritzing their lures with yummies, let’s move on.

That doesn’t make sense…I didn’t say/assume anything about your clearly in depth research being scientific, nor did it come across as me saying so. If you got that from 9 words, hats off to you.

I did unclench earlier. I had two turkey sandwiches around 11.

I actually don’t spray my yummies. I’m just not naive enough to think they were a fad.

As I said, while it hasn’t gone away, the use of scents is nowhere near as common now as they were in the 1980s at the peak of the fad.

Most of the larger sporting goods and fishing stores had an entire side of an aisle devoted to them. Dr. Juice, Fish Formula, Strike, Trigger, just a few brands that I recall and then there were species-specific variations of everything. Every pro on every major circuit had a scent endorsement deal, it seemed.

I’m sure the Color-C-Lector is out there as well, but in terms of overall attention and popularity, scents are nothing like they were in the 1980s.

You are very far off base on your assumptions…..

The computer in my man cave has been running windows SP3v1 for years and I’ve never installed any updates for as long as I can remember on it. A lot of windows “must install critical updates” are for the most part non essential to most of your every day browsing(hint:get off IE and don’t use it…). I do know my way around a computer’s OS and its registry very well so cleaning something off is very simple. Even so, for the every day user, don’t look at crap you aren’t supposed to and click on suspicious pop ups. If you have kids, then upgrading is a good idea. i have computers /w XP, 7 and 8. I prefer XP and 7. I’m not a fan of 8. If you’re completely computer illiterate, upgrade just to save yourself the hassle.

Shimano does have reels /w a flipping switch. The Castaic and the core 100mgfv. this is the only core /w it. the 50 and 100mg7 dont have it. the cores isn’t like the accurists but it’s the same concept.

I bought a Columbia leather wallet 10 years ago. I’m still using it today. Nothing has ripped either. I think it maybe cost 40$.

Yes its the last one they have. They have a lot of the ci4+ in stock. Its marked way down so thats why I was wondering if they made any big changes to the reel.

Yes, they did make changes to the current ci4+. Xship being the big change in the new model. It’s a great feature on a spinning reel. There are other changes as well. If you want a detailed explanation, go to shimanos site and you can compare 2 different reels at once.

I was on my way by the Lynxville Dam on Friday and there were several cars at the landing and I saw Bill ruunning his flat bottom back to the float from the landing.

flukes work fantastic on pool 11 vertical jigged. paddle tails/moxis seem to outproduce most plasitcs though.

I’ve never noticed this chart, thanks.

the problem though is the legend tournaments use the guide size that is in between micro and standard and from the tip down, the 10 guides are all the same size and the first two I believe are the next size up. they use 11 guides + tip rather than the traditional 8 or 9.

st. croix has arguably the some of best customer service in the business. I’m sure they will give me the guide size if I were to ask for it (which I will depending on the answer to the latest e-mail I sent). If there were any rod builders in my area that were known, I’d take it to them. the closest one I know of is chuck ungs but he’s 2 hours away.

Oh I can just slip the the new guide into the epoxy. i’ve had this happen one other time with a different legend tournament but I had the guide still on my line. i just put a microscopic dab of super glue on the vertical piece below the guide and slide it back in and the guide hasn’t moved or fell off in a couple years. it fit in very snug as well so i’m assuming it was just poor finishing of the epoxy or as you mentioned the threads were loose but they don’t seem or look to be. I could be wrong though. The epoxy over the thread or around the guide isn’t cracked which was odd. This seems to be the same issue and returning the rod is more of a hassle and expense as I’m on the water a few times a week and have a few tournaments approaching.

I don’t know of any rod builders in my area and don’t want to hand this rod off to someone at a local bait shop that could ruin the blank. It’s right in the middle where the parabolic moderate taper starts going into the backbone and any issues in that part of the rod on the blank would could lead to breakage in the worst spot.

Yes. An XF tip (though it works) is the last kind of tip action you want on a crankbait rod. A moderate action allows the road to load up prior to setting the hook resulting in less chances of pulling trebles out of a fishes mouth.

I fish pool 12 a lot and a kayak would be the last thing I would want to be on below the dam there. You can still access the tailwaters with a boat but you have to launch on the WI side on the sand bar at the mouth of O’Leary’s Lake. With the warm weather coming and the possibility of boat ramps still not accessible down river, there will still be a load of people launching from that sand bar. I have seen quite a few people kayaking down river though near the mines of spain train bridge at the mouth of catfish creek.

Well how small of cranks are you looking to throw? 1/4 oz cranks can easily be throw with a baotcaster but you need the correct one with the right spool to do so. I.e curado or chronarch50 or diawa alpha or sol. Each of these will run you 150$+ give or take. You really will get what you pay for in the sub 100$ reel baitcast class. A graphite frame is commonly used on cheap casting reels and when under a load, the frame will flex amd cause it to not work correctly over time. You could probably find a used citica200e on ebay for around 100$.

I believe the line has been out for a couple years now. I was fortunate enough to win a spool of 15# last year and use it fishing jigs/plastics. The line is incredibly manageable and handles like a dream. I don’t like the 40$ price tag but it will be hard shy away after using it. It has about the same stretch as red label (which is their least stretchiest line) If you are wanting new line for your spinning rod, sunline just came about with fc finesse which is getting great reviews.

Welcome to the curse of owning one extreme! If you thought there was a gap in the jig application,it only gets worse with pitching blades.

Ha i have a couple of he the casting ones too. So what you are saying is this is not something to skimp on like a jig rod? Thinking about it, its something im going to be doing for years to come. Do you know much about the 610mlxf legend tourney dean? I would assume it will do a fantastic job for blades(much more so than a mojo or avid?) but just want reassurance. Those 20% off black friday sales are coming up quick!

I use a 69MLXF Mojo Bass and it seems to work just fine for pitching blades. I have used other croix 69MLXF rods with blades and honestly I didn’t feel too much of a difference.

Thanks. There was really a night and day difference between the 69mlxf avid and the xtreme for pitching jigs and I really don’t want that same feeling with blades. Understandably there will be some but I don’t want it to be so drastic that I just put the rod down. I just bought 2 new jig rods for bass fishing and I’m not sure the girl would appreciate another xtreme. I can get the mojo new for 75$ at [censored] anyway. Any other input on the mojo of the fenwick 69mxf small mouth rod? I would be a lot happier with the legend tourney 69 but i just can’t find one.
