I stopped a bunch of leaks on our 14ft portage boat (treated poorly, beat to hell) by painting the leaking rivets with “Gluvit”

It worked like a charm. Very good product.

Gluvit works great, Ive remodeled a handful of old “tin” lunds using it.

My Shimano siennas the black and red ones suck. They definitely are not the same as they used to be.

Order some carbontex washers and they will be just like the old ones. I have about 20 of the 500’s half new ones, half old ones.

To the OP, the Piscifun reels I got were ok at best. ended up switching to the diawa qz series. Run 750’s on most of my panfish rigs open and hard water. Still run a mix of saharas and tatulas on my walleye/big fish gear.

First things first, Glad hes ok. Thats a long trek when soaked and cold. Second, My friends give me crap for wearing a full face helmet on the Atv when in motion. Would have saved him from the cuts, and made sure he didnt end up soaked and concussed.

I really fear that these stories might become a thing in the next week or so. Be safe all!

When they make livescope as moveable as a standard flasher I’ll invest . Would be sweet to have a wireless transducer . Right now it looks rather cumbersome for hole hopping .

Hear me out, the new uhd2 6″ screen is Live compatable from what Ive read, Couple that with a smaller shuttle, LVS32 tranducer, and 19AH battery and your in the same size as a traditional flasher.

Planning to piece together that setup for next year and ditch my 9″ screen/48ah battery setup.

Ive learned a ton since switching to live. You can tell Fish mood, species and size in most cases.

    1. JT Shiver stick: I have the 44 inch that is new this year for hole hopping and fishing from the truck. Really liked this stick. Excelled with many baits and great balance of sensitivity and backbone.

Last year I ran the longest offering, and too picked up the 44″ this year. this is now my favorite blank. You can fish anything from aggressive crappies to walleye/pike without issues.

    4. PK spoons: New to me, after watching some videos about ice fishing spoons, so I picked up a few. Wow, they were one of the top baits this past weekend for walleye. 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, even 3/8 sizes. Seem like an underrated/marketed product. Highly recommend.

Sssshhhhhhh! dont let this secret out! These have been my go to bait on the all pressured walleye lakes. It not a super common spoon and Im a firm believer of throwing something different down the hole. Ive outfished my buddies for years using these over a coffin spoon, buckshot, etc.

    7. The Daiwa 750 line (my choice QR’s) are a really nice reel w/folding handle and at a budget price ($25-45). All I run other than okuma ceymar 500BF on deadsticks.

Great budget reel! I love the QZ series

Put a gulp minnow head on a vmc bladed treble that I put on a PK spoon that is glow red dot. Can’t wait to try that!

I can confirm that this is a great combo. Even with no bait. PK Spoons are super underrated.

Ive been running the bladed trebles on jigging spoons for a few years. As well as the feathered trebles. Just started doing the epoxy trebles last year and havent noticed a decline. Ive also added the smallest bladed trebles to Darters, slab raps, and rippin raps.

As far as plastics, i have thousands, but always seem to use the same 2-3 in the same color so I tend to rig up two of each before trips and store them in my jig box.

Ive read this whole thread. Man, So many differing opinions. Heres my take. Leave it alone. Close the season on the normal date, Try again next year. Thread after thread about the coveted walleyes. Expand your horizons.

There 10,000 lakes. With other species. Spend whatever time we have leftover ice chasing perch, crappies, and bluegill. Or if you really need to have a fish fry and want a bunch of fish, and want to support a small community, head on down to the fairmont chain of lakes and fill a few five gallon pails of yellow bass. They are great table fare and invasive.

What Red dot do you have on that X Macro? I see they are available with the Romeo sight already mounted on it. Do you know if you can co-witness the iron sights well with the Romeo sight?

Holosun 507K. Mines the tac ops version and it co witnessed with the stock sights. I dont know anything about the romeo sights on them.

Don’t look past the CZ P10C. I’ve been shooting a lot of handguns recently and doing research as I’m looking to purchase my first carry handgun, and I shoot this the best and it’s the most comfortable for me. It’s also one of the cheaper options, and has better trigger, and features than Glock. I love shooting Glocks, and I thought I would be going with a Glock 19 until I found the P10C.

Just another option to look at. I’m planning on purchasing it soon.

The P10c is a great gun, I have two of them, one without the optics cut and one with.

Summer I carry the p365 X macro with a red dot and light. Winter I carry either my Zev OZ9Cx build with light and dot, or a P320 with light and dot. Im a bigger dude always wear an over shirt. Carry appendix most days but also have a strongside holster on occasion.

I carry large in the winter simply because I can. But if I could only afford one gun. The 365 X macro gets the nod. 17rnd mags, smaller footprint than a Glock 17, the extra grip length and thickness makes it shoot like a large frame gun without the “snap” that my shield, 43, and 43x had.

Yea, I’ve been hearing that happened, I was planning on going to Elysian and circle and apparently they both got winterkilled so that sucks.

Both took a hit last year for sure. Unfortunate since both were doing well.

I ran mine to a seperate battery in teh front of my ATV, then follow a shutdown routine everytime I shut it off. I also took a label maker and put a “Shut off the graph” label right above my key on the quad to make sure I dont forget )

They can be found in rice county in the lakes you listed, but they are few and far between. The lakes get pounded so hard that when the big ones get caught they dont get put back. Best bet would be to spend a few days finding the schools, and then spending a night or two hanging out over them. Seems like all the stories I hear from the guys that catch the big ones down here is that they get them in the middle of the night. My biggest down here is 14.75″ and it was at 2 am on a deadstick.

Ive had it happen once on Mille lacs. My theory is this.

If you look at the illustrations of a livescope beam in down view it shows side to side x amount of feet, but the beam has a width to it as well. Say your fishing three holes in a line that is inline with your sled or house. I think what happened here is it came in from the front or back on that small “width or axis” of the beam. Hard bottom with a good return it just happened to pick it up maybe…..

Leave the bail open, Maybe tie a 3ft length of braid to something sturdy and the other end to the rod?

Question for you guys that have been running a 2400 or 2600 Eskape the last couple seasons. How are the sleds holding up? I’ve only had Otter shacks, but really want something that will fit under my bed cover. I’ve beat the crap out of my Otter sleds pulling behind an ATV on rough ice and have never had an issue. The Eskimo feels a little lighter duty overall.

I put a ton of miles on mine behind the wheeler the last two years and it still looks just as good as my cottage did. Also picked up the new eskape 2000 this year. Just add a quality hyfax kit and the sled will be fine.

thats a nice unit and i would probably be interested. the problem is i dont think i could sell my cottage for what i think its worth.

Ive watched a lot of portables for sale on marketplace and it seems like they move slow for whatever reason. Good Luck with the sale!

Dont be to sure. I listed and sold my eskape 2600 for full asking price in under 24hrs.

No. When we purchased our house I saw in the city ordinance it was required, it was never brought up when we asked about animals, so I never went down and got them. Same with our golf cart. Our city also requires UTV’s to have a permit. A $125 yearly fee for something that is already licensed as an on road legal vehicle according to the state. (double checked with the local DMV. I guess they gotta get their cut though.

If Im targeting walleyes, I usually pick up my JT Gold Digger or JT Shiver Stick (Gold Digger is just a bit more heavier rod in case the lake Im on is known for bigger fish).

If Im fishing a lake where there is a good chance at <em class=”ido-tag-em”>perch or crappies mixed in with most walleyes being under 20in, then I go for the TUCR Fusion

I agree with this. Ive built 100’s of rods, fished almost if not every blank on the market. The shiver stick in its stock form, or custom built off the blank, is hands down my favorite blank for light spoons, and body baits. I think ive built up four of them now, and just picked up a 44″ for hole hopping. Pair it with a QZ750 in the shorter lengths, or a Fuego 1000 in the longer lengths. Way better than the frostbite stuff!

All depends on what you have with you. I have a jackery for multiple day trips where I need to recharge a flasher or the garmin. On easy overnights, I have a powerbox I built that has 2 15AH amped batteries, enough to charge phones, ipads, and other odds and ends multiple times.

I dont take much with me besides a phone, livescope, and the occasional back up flasher. So my charging needs are way lower than most. In your case I would look into a portable diesel heater and a power box like a jackery style unit. Diesel heaters can run for days on minimal fuel and a good battery, and produce dry heat.

I own or have fished pretty much every noodle rod on the market, Custom built or Mass production. For pinheads My go to is the della bay Tip Dip, I bought the blank and built mine at 38″, but their 36″ is great.

I do two against the front wall right in the corners for dead sticks, two inline with the doors, closer to the center for jigging, and one dead center for the livescope. Heater goes against the front wall on a folding stool. And livescope right in between the two rear holes.

That being said. Ideally I run two jigging holes inside, and two deadstick holes about 20 ft out on eachside of the shack. Lets a guy cover more area. I try to run this configuration whenever possible, Less going on inside the shack.

I enjoy a “good” cigar but am definitely a novice consumer. Sure, I smoked a pile of junk gas station specials over the years while drinking, weddings, bachelor parties, fishing trips, etc.

If anyone has some good suggestions for relatively cheap cigars that are enjoyable let me know. I currently just randomly grab a few once in a great while with no real knowledge of what is “good” or not. I’m not interested in $10 smokes – just affordable decent ones.

All depends on your “tastes”. I like pretty much anything from Caldwell, Have a few from Drew estates that I like, Crowned heads – Las Calavares, Tatuaje. I went through a stage where I smoked one a day, ran an insta page that had about 8k followers, and went to a bunch of events. Still have about 100 or so good cigars in the Wine fridge I made into a humidor. Don’t Smoke much anymore. If your around burnsville hit up Burn. They always have a good selection.
