Hi Nick. Sorry, no dice. The spare gimbal mount I have will NOT fit your unit. It was for an older X-Series Lowrance. It’s the correct width, but not the correct height.

I’d bet A-Rod is wishing he would have made that final payment on time now!
Great win last night and outstanding series. Let’s hope they get some rest and come out and hammer Denver, who is up 3-1 in their series.

    Hi Nick,
I’m not at the cabin until this Friday. I will let you know as soon as I get there.

    Hey Nick,

I think I have one you can have. It’s at the cabin in WI, and I will be up there next weekend. I will make sure it’s there and bring it home to Lakeville. Where are you located?

The lake my group fishes on opener is still ice covered, so I don’t think it will be much different than normal.

I’m a canoe fan, and they can be tippy, no doubt. But there are a ton of stabilizer options out there to purchase. I’ve also successfully cobbled together my own homemade stabilizer using an extension pole for a roof rake and lashing boat bumper buoys to it. It was cheap and very effective. I could even stand up to cast or relieve my bladder. )

Grouse, 16.5 miles is about 10 more than I put on just driving around on the lake in January. Good news is that except for pumping out the old gas and putting in some new, I won’t have any other pre-season maintenance to do next year!

I’ve been lucky enough to work in the outdoor apparel industry for over 25 years. In that time I’ve had a LOT of rainwear and boots. Simms, Huk, Striker, Helly Hansen, etc. My 2 favorite suits that I’ve owned by far are still the Cabela’s Guidewear. Dry, comfortable, and priced pretty well.

One BIG thing for everyone to consider this year is how long the gas has been in the tank. If you’re like me and drove your sled a whopping 5 miles or less on gas that was stored all last summer, it’s probably best to siphon the old gas out and use it in your vehicle and put in fresh Non-oxy and fuel stabilizer.

Oh I beg to differ. Not a fun job and its a PITA because you have to remove the boat from the trailer to do it. Otherwise it wouldn’t be so bad.

I still have traditional bunks w/carpet that came with my trailer but I replaced bunk carpet a couple years ago. Aint doing it again if it rips.

It’s really not a big PITA. If you can measure, cut, and carpet the new bunks, you can take the boat to the closest boat ramp to dump it off and have the new bunks installed in about 20 minutes tops. And….green treat 2×6 is WAY cheaper than composite.

I don’t think there is any right or wrong answer here, except for this…kids need to be encouraged to find and follow their passion. Be it organized sports, the outdoors, or just fostering friendships.
I grew up in the 80s. I was a pretty fair 3 sport athlete. But I also loved to hunt and fish, and my best friends weren’t into sports as we grew older. By the time I was a senior, I would much rather hunt and fish than participate in sports. I wasn’t pushed by my parents, and I never pushed my kids either.
My son is 22 now and already a successful mechanic after completing his 2 year degree and ASE certification. He has absolute freak athletic ability. Fast as a deer, strong and can throw a football or baseball twice as far as I ever could. He could have certainly been a great athlete, but that wasn’t his passion. By the 10th grade, he was already way more into cars and the outdoors than anything else. He dropped baseball and joined the trap team and went to Nationals twice. I’m more than proud of him.

Very nice! Sure wish we had 11″ of ice in NW Wisc. Lakes we fished a week ago had 4-7″ max. I don’t even think I’ll venture onto the ice this coming weekend. Instead, I think I’ll be praying for an early March ice out. )

Going to shoot for 2 trips this summer. 5 days on Rainy Lake in June and a week long family trip to Winnie in August.

Already wishing I could put the snowmobiles back into storage and get my boat out, but have to wait until April. (

I had a Skeeter 1880 a number of years ago. I had the trolling motor hang up a time or 2. I found the best remedy (if I was with someone) is to have one of us in the boat, back in at a pretty good clip and hit the brakes when the trailer was in the water. It slid the boat back far enough that the trolling motor was never an issue anymore.

At this point, I’m just hoping for enough snow to get my sleds out of the shed and onto the trailer for summer storage. Sad state of affairs for sure. Spooner, WI had 94″ of snow last year. 7.5″ so far this year. 100 year average is 53″. I guess this must be our year to even things out.

Thanks for sharing J! That was super informative, not brand specific information. Tons of good food for thought.

Another night, another W. I’m not a huge basketball fan, especially pro, but this team is fun to watch for sure!

Late this summer we stopped at Gronk’s in Superior. Burgers there were terrific. Better than Anchor Bar in my opinion by a long shot.

Edit to my OP. I only chop up a 1/2 pound of bacon in the single batch. The whole pound when I do a double batch!

I’m with you, Rip. I think Denver is one of the scarier teams in the NFL right now. They seemed to have found themselves. But so did the Vikings, so it should be a good game.
