SS……….you didn’t miss a thing. The fishing is very slow. The DNR started netting Friday night. I haven’t heard any numbers on that yet.

We fished all over the lake sat. and the only place we caught fish was in the little lake by the grade. The water was 44-46 on the main lake and up to 50 in the little lake. I think things will pick up in a couple weeks when the spawn is over.

    Swedish Pimple!!!

I suppose you had to use something big so that 20 would pick it up?

    Nice job on the fish.

I guess my list would go like this….

    1. Yellow Bass
    2. Walleye (14-16) incher
    3. Perch
    4. Crappie

For those of you who have never eaten a yellow bass you don’t know what you missing. They are nice and firm even in the water water months.

Honda….it’s looks to me like you should spend the money on a guide. I know if I drove from the border and spent what you did on your trip I’d sure want to catch fish!!

I’m sure the weather has had some effect on the perch bite Andy. I also think being’s some jackass put yellow bass in the lake that will pretty much destory the perch poulation within the next couple yrs.

Yep that snow really bites Joe!! It’s gonna be hard to build any ice with all that snow on top. I hate to say it but now we need some warm weather during the day to melt it and then get cold at nite and re-freeze it. Tough pulling a house through all that snow also.

Made it up to Clear for a couple hrs. Sat. The ice was around 7 inches of decent ice lots of people out. We fished east and north of the Island in 15 fow. Caught 7 yellows and missed a couple others. The bite really turned on right at dusk. I had a perch glow buckshot with a minnow head and Jake had a prech colored Kens jig and a minnow on. They really wanted alot of movement on the jigging.

I wish we would have gotten there a little earlier but it was still fun just to get out.

This new snow sure won’t help much!!

I hate to see him go he did alot of good for the program. I believe in any sport anymore winning is everything. I hate to say it but I’m sure alot of boosters with deep pockets had alot to do with Mac’s departure. It would be nice to get well known coach to fill the job that could bring in some big time recruits.

The dual beam is great fishing Brushy Creek in the trees!! Last winter Chad and I were down their fishing. I was fishing 10 yds away from Chad and my LX-3’s screen was lite up with trees but I wasn’t getting snagged up. I left and Chad fished my holes and told me later that most of the trees were off to the side not much straight down. We were fishing 30-35 fow so the narrow cone on his 18 was a big plus. I had a hard time picking up my jig in all the clutter. I think the dual beam has it’s advantages.

I know most of you area from MN. I live in IA and fish with Chad (CSP88) and a bunch of other folks. I know Vex. is way ahead in the flasher battle in our area. I hear it every yr. from the guys on our Iowa site and from the guys I fish with. I’m a Marcum owner (LX-5 & LX-3) and am definetly a minority. We had 17 guys on our SD trip last winter and I was the only Marcum user. Were up to 28 on this winters trip and as far as I know I will still be the only Marcum user.

I just love reading the ribing that goes on between the folks about which flasher is the best. To me the flasher is just showing you whats down their you still have to put something in their face they want to bite!! I think both units do an excellent job of showing you fish but that doesn’t put them on the ice!

I still wear more old fish finder on my Carhartt as a reminder how far technology has come.

I can’t wait for the hard water tired of this heat. We’ve been making plans on another site for our trip this winter.

Two winters ago we had 13 guys that went to Devils Lake.

Last winter we had a group of 17 that went to the Waubay area.

This yr. were heading back to SD and already have 24 guys going with more possible.

I think everyone is thinking ice!

I wouldn’t say its useless. I just get up early fish from 5-10 and leave before the pleasure boats get to thick. The real problem is the boat ramp congestion!!

Made a trip up to Clear 6-28. We also pulled cranks the whole time. We ended up with 4 keepers eyes.

We also had a nice muskie take a #5 shad rap pulling boards. She went 48-49 inches and is still swimming around. If I knew how to post a picture I’d put one up of her.

On 5-6 the yellows were biting ok. I cleaned 16 all but two were males that were milking. I was fishing on Billy’s Reef drifting across the top with a minnow or cut bait. I’m not sure if the yellows have spawned out yet if they haven’t try the north shore around rocky shorelines very close to shore.

Steve….I don’t fish Brushy alot in the open water months. I do fish it early for walleye off the jettys with a slip bobber and leech. I’m a trolling fishermen and Brushy isn’t a very good place to troll unless you have an endless supply of cranks! The north end can be good for crappie in the spring on a small jig and minnow. I’m not a bass guy buy when I walleye fish with a leech you catch more bass then walleye.

    Sorry I’m not much help.

    Todd.

Trout I thought you were gonna stay quite about you and I!!
