Its to bad that he had to respond that way. I’d have your soon to be Wife have a conversation with him. She can and should tell him as her soon to be new husband, The kids will be free to do what every her and the kids decide thay want to with you. I’d have no further conversations with him. Let the new wife to be take care of all of that. Just my .02 worth. Hopefully over time thing will get better between him and yourself. Glad you are taking the time to spend time with the kids and introducing them to the Great outdoors.

x2! Take into consideration this Aholes past. Does he have a history of violence? Can he possibly be reasoned with? You just hear too many horrible stories these days. Tread lightly and best of luck, you are doing the right thing!

They let the wrong person take the final shot. After missing the final shot in the 1st half, he missed a 3 late in the 2nd period. He then fumbled the ball out of bounds, missed a 3 foot jumper and the 2 out of 3 free throws were not clean. Bo needs to realize when a player is not on. Still a great season.

Could not agree more! What, no design plays for Brust? Travon has drained that game winning shot before an I believe Bo was thinking the same thing. Oh well, great season regardless and a good feeling knowing that Bo and the Badgers are always going to be a team that no one wants to play.

Great yr.for gills, crappies were down a little. Props go out to TUCR for the two long sticks they spun up for me last fall…..worth every cent. Now heal up so we can get out next season..

    Jeff,
lets compare notes on the two rods I just got from them, to the two you got…

    I’m excited !!!

My first was a gold thread, 5ft fast action graphite with rec guides and cork handle, matched it up with the Black Betty. This was by far my bread and butter, very light and balanced with the capability to land big fish with that smooth drag. My second was a 5.5ft E glass spun up the same way. Very soft, slow rod but an absolute blast to land fish with. This was a good one when using cecils, tinglers etc. for crappies. Using 3lb.braid you could double that rod over big time on the hook set then let the rod do it’s work to tire them out. The tug IS the drug Dave but with the glass stick the hook set became addictive.

. Attached to the middle of it’s head was a lamprey looking like thing. It was sort of orange brown colored, about 6-7 inches long. I didn’t get a good look at as it fell off while the fish was still in the hole, but it definitely was on the fish. The bass even had black mark about the size of a dime where the whatever it was was attached. Are there lampreys in the Mississippi or was it something else?

Fell off while the fish was still in the hole……..never been that lucky Those things still give me the Heebyjeebies

You won’t go wrong with the American made wave. Wish the saw had a little more beef but like stated, just send it back and it will be replaced, no questions asked. Now if they just came out with a multi just for fisherman then they would be on to something

A small Step that makes a huge diff….Styrofoam cooler. I use to seine alot of creek shiners but if they were in plastic until I got them home it was too late. Took a 5 gal .styrofoam cooler placed inside a tupperware container. Sealed the lids and everything was good.

I wasn’t aware you could have the trans. at the top of the hole and no get a lot of interference off the ice…Do you mean have it in the center of the hole? How do you keep it there ?

Set the unit as close to the hole as possible, set the cable stop and swing the arm out so its dead center. I use an 8in hole for best results but works ok down to 5″. If you are in search mode this isn’t the best way but when you know you are on a school it works really well. Remember, narrow beam then tweak from there

Like Dave, I also run the lx5 in shallow waters. What makes the unit so nice is the multiple ways to get a good read in shallow stuff. The super fine line works great like mentioned but another trick is to keep the transducer as high as possible in the hole, just enough ducer in the water to get a good shot(1/16 of an inch is enough) then switch to narrow beam making sure the ducer is dead center. This cuts back on the clutter you would pick up from the sides of the hole if you were using a 20 degree shot. By running it this way it picks up the bait much shallower than if you had the ducer at the bottom of the hole. This year with two ft.of ice it makes a huge difference. Not only does it give you some extra read it also eliminates fish getting wrapped up in the cord which is still a huge pet peeve of mine. The lx5 is a heck of a unit but in shallow water the 5s little cousin, the VX-1 has a zoom feature that works great for shallow water. It’s been a great back up

Had some issues last year with the tungstens. Alot of the problem was the knot cinching down off center at times. Not a huge deal if you check your jig every time while making sure the plastic rides true. Finally switched over to a rapala knot which has worked out great. A pain to tie up with 1 and 2lb.test but worth it

Saw a guy show up on the ice last week with a violin case lined with foam. Had two nice st.croix’s snugged in there. I wanted to laugh but I couldn’t after he told me he picked it up at a garage sale for a buck There are some nice cases out there and you really get what you pay for. Would anyone have an idea where I could buy or have made a 6ft.rod case. My gun cases are too short and sick of the rod socks!

Chellowe case would be too small maybe a base. Sorry couldn’t help myself.

    Just fiddling around

so a 5ft. quick tip TUCR

How thick is the 5′ quicktip blank @ the handle? Do you even need any cork?

The blank is 5/16″ that tapers to 1/16″. 6″ of 1″ cork. I never got into the split grip-foam-cork handle discussions too much as they all feel good, just what you get use to I suppose. If I were to have one made for a spinning reel I would definetly look into a split grip tho. I did have it made with lightness in mind so the recoill guides were a plus, pricier but worth it.The black betty is mounted dead center on the cork for perfect balance which is the whole deal right there

We fish shallow, 10ft or less, so a 5ft. quick tip TUCR with a 6061 black betty is becoming my favorite stick of all time. Set up with a spring indicator and having the slick drag when needed has eliminated all shallow water problems. Feather light too which I love Also had a 5ft 6in.E-glass rod spun up that looks like it will have its place during ice out but haven’t had a chance to test it yet

Didn’t the snowmobile club use to have one? Years ago my Dad and I were down to that when the Far Enough was open. Them guys run a great Fisheree. One year I won two first places.

We miss the ol FarNuff bar Still some good fishing to be had. I think the numbers are just as good as the old days but with new tech it doesn’t seem to take as long to dent the bite. As of last week end the gills were still very cooperative with a few runs of crappies throughout the day. The perch are coming back but are inconsistant
