I have had good experiences with Fenwick, St croix and loomis but I have to admit Fenwick was the best to deal with.

Summer is G&T time. Sapphire is one of my faves, but I don’t find much point it using a “premium” gin in a G&T. New Amsterdam is what we use for G&Ts most of the time.

I have bought higher-end, small-batch stuff, but I don’t care for it straight, so I don’t generally buy pricey gins.

Agree 100%. I only drink Gin and tonics and have done a lot of side by side testing of various brands and New amsterdam and sapphire are my gotos. Did just get a bottle of kirklands and tried it side by side with sapphire and not much diff imho.

Last year they had a big year long tournement on blue mesa that you got paid for turning in lake trout heads. Its was super low last winter but is projected to get up to 70% full with the good snow year. I ussualy fish taylor res when I am out there but will need to get out on Blue Mesa next time.

Hopefully this will make the DNR reconsider the stance on lake trout.

Great area for skiing and fishing out there.

Now people wanting to Chase walleye This is no different from the current situation where Bass fishermen start fishing two weeks prior to the season opener date and do so by saying ” I’m not bass fishing, I’m fishing for Pike or Walleyes

They changed that a few years ago you can now catch and release fish for bass starting at walleye opener

Thats how I do them in a hurry. Instapot then through on a grill to get some marks and sauce.

A pressure cooker or fancy pressure cooker (aka Instant Pot) is the only way to get them done in a hurry.

Since I fish 3 or 4 days a week during the summer and have note been checked in probably 5 years I am not too worried. IF they pass it and I get a ticked then I will pay it. I think I got a life time supply of jigs

Yikes I just noticed mine was leaking yesterday and see this post today it was a 2006. Will be getting a new one and installing this week. On a side note if you open the top presure release to winterize your cabin make sure to close it in the spring when you fill it up. I went from enjoying the first cabin cocktail to a 3 hour cleanup last spring.

is there any difference using the wedge or just a piece of wood. I have been using a log that a beaver left me chewed to the perfect length. Got to love free stuff.

Saturday was nice out Tues and Wed was no fun. Got 15 Sat biggest being 24 other days were slower probably due to how hard it was to control the boat. Hopefully the wind stays low that 20+ mph was tough. All our fish sat came between 15 and 20. Good luck.

Did the hawg haul post get deleted I was looking forward to the results? Walleye fishing been a little slow for me but been managing a few each trip got a nice flathead the other day makes a good fight on a walleye rod.

Regarding braid on a jigging rod I tried it for a few years and found out my hooking percent was less with braid so I switched them all back to mono/ I never had a issue detecting bites with mono and rods in the 100$ price range. But like others say kind of a personal preference.

The bite sure died in the last 2 weeks. Fished upper pool 2 yesterday ended up with 3 eyes 15-17 inch fish (crawlers and jigs). First time up there this year been fishing the southern section all year but wanted to avoid the pros. Did notice they finally got the road from the P&Y club to the lillydale launch open after a year++. Fun to watch the shows hopefully they come back I would like to be a marshal the pros all seemed nice from the coverage. Nice picture on the coverage guys.

Yes that was entertaining He was sure going thru the blade baits at a fast pace at one spot. I was surprised at the 8 people with 0.0 for 2 days. A 2 lb fish at this time of year would be 19 inches??

I used to lock the hitch but lock stopped working and I needed to cut it off this spring. took about 7 seconds with a sawzall. Have not got a locking one again but probably will to keep the honest thieves away and people that just want to screw with your trailer. Have not locked trailer for years but probably a good idea also.

Thanks Abe. Played with the thermostat Friday night and tried to fish Saturday. Started, got it off the trailer and beached it. Then it was dead. No starting alarm and no trim and tilt. Guessing something electrical. Will call dealer
Monday. Was a bummer, had 2 friends fishing with me and it was a beautiful day.

I had similar issue this spring when the alternator went on my Merc ran great until the battery ran down. Then did what you are talking about. check the charge on the battery and the connection.

Mike – You reminded me of another don’t. Don’t laugh when a agent slips and racks his nuts when he is climbing into your boat to search it. Go figure

I flew to Toronto every week for 6 months. I got good on profiling the boarder agents at the airports to determine what line to get in. Worst were the Female Blonds they always sent me to the back room.

Been going to Canada for 30+ years very view issue and some of our guys have DUI’s. Here is what I learned.

    DO’S
Roll down all windows and take off sunglasses.
Answer all questions with yes/no if possible.
    Driver does all the talking.
Put your smart ass relative in the back seat and make sure he does not say anything.
Be polite and show them some respect

    Dont’s
Bring Keg beer into Canada- Quote from border agent ‘What do you mean you have one big can of beer? Pull over there’
    No smart ass remarks Example:
Are you bringing more the 10k$ into Canada? response Do we look like we have 10K$
Are you going to leave anything in Canada? – response – A few turds

I have had problems with woodpeckers in the past.
I have some CDs that turned into coasters. I hang the CDs on a string with a swivel. This allows the CDs to spin with a slight breeze.
The woodpeckers do not like the flash the CDs provide and go away.

My dad had a issue with them on his cedar siding and he made a ball out of tinfoil and hung it on a string and it worked.

Fishing buddy had a bear in his boat on one of our Canada trips a canvas cover is not bear proof.

I had a mink swim up and try to get in my boat one time. Couple whacks with the pole sent him on his way.
