hey bud, sounds likea great deal… I’ve had many trolling motors over the years, The only thing I’ve ever had go bad since 1987 is the PLUG… failed at the worst times… $$$$ spent on replacements and service… This might be the issue… Ended up getting an 18 pack and rewiring the whole boat my way, no more problems… simple wiring, simple plug…
have no experience with I pilot but want one bad!! I’m guessing you need some fresh batteries in the remote too…
Can you turn down speed for spot lock?? you may have it too high and kicking itself off…
please bring boat and I pilot to NY for testing!

hey fry dog… pitchin flippin rods… amazing amount of rods out there. I couldn’t even start with any brands… I’ll throw in a few though…
TFO… real nice lightweight rod… I have a 7-11 x hvy and really nice for everything… hard to put down… price good.
Raphsody… rod builder here in ny… I have 2 of the hot rod series and they feel like rods that cost twice as much… Website worth a look…
All Star… I have 2 very old all star flippin rods… still my favorite… very old school…
alot of lightweight one piece rods out there… nice to fish with, a pain to store and travel with… I go telescopic if I can…
    I like old fashioned mono… 17-25#…
    triple fish flouro good…
    braid at times…
    Owner twistlock hooks good…
    3/8-3/4 tg sinker…
Start with a black tube… might not need anything else…

New York has a small hatchery program trying to restore paddlefish to its native range in the very western part of the state… Along with its sturgeon program which is starting to show results…. very interesting stuff.
Very old fish that should be enjoyed and released…

Tell DA and PI you want constant updates… fill out victims statement, include any expenses you got, lost wages, gas, fees etc. Go to the sentencing and let them know you are there. when the DA says you are in the courtroom, watch the reaction…
you and the wife get steak and beer for lunch after…
when you get home, throw together a lure pack for me… I like lure packs…

I am a USPS city carrier… Postal police will fry him… May want to follow up with postmaster to see whats going on… The penalty for this should be posted in the post office lobby… may wanna rethink putting the flag up for out going mail… thats just my 2 cents… little chat with your rural carrier could come up with something… I drive all over for express runs and I see flags up sat afternoon thru early morning…
If you get any victim statement or any money you ended up having to pay, follow it through… this is VERY important…
when my truck was stolen, I did all the paperwork AND I went to the sentencing… When the judge heard I was in the courtroom… She destroyed him…

interesting post… might want to snoop around some hot rod boards to see what they do… nice chance here to do a nice colored/ flake floor… my friend has a maroon floor with silver gold chips… did it himself…
My thought lately on this is a black white checkered board garage floor, maybe tiles…

make sure battery fully charged EVERY time you leave the dock. battery might be bad. I had same problem… turns out battery i got with the new boat was garbage… optimax and new sonars require mucho juice. replaced starting battery with optima D31m… no more problems… put on charge before every trip…
best case sonar should be wired directly to battery, no switchs etc… might also have some corrossion around cheap fuse thing they supply…

I would add a jackplate, might help performance and can be used for power pole. That etec 50 looks to be a good match for that boat. I’ve looked around on the web and the interior is a bit of a mystery, would like to see a short video tour of interior and compartments…
terrova with I pilot be a nice touch too… After watching video about 8 times the 170 is back at the top of my list…

The old NY tuffy is blue and white 1760 with 150 merc, powerpole… lotta big fish caught with that boat here. will be missed this spring… thanks for telling your friend about it. I drove thru monster storm to meet him in PA… ripped the cover in half!
when the wind blows and the chop kicks up, get out in that boat and floor it…

Yes, the New York tuffy is gone. Very sad day. After a flash flood, huge paycut at USPS and house repairs, Helping my 94yr old father, It had to go. was only using it less than once a week. Glad to say that a very happy guy picked it up and took it back to the Mother ship, (wisc).
I’ll Probably never have a tuffy again, That deal was just too good 5 years ago… With That being said, That Tuffy 1760GC was the best boat I ever had. Fished quite a few bass tourneys in it, It turned heads and I still was in the money quite a bit. An amazing fishing boat. If Some good things do happen Tuffy is the only boat I’d go with.
But who knows, maybe that dream 1890GT tiller will come true. (all Black)

For the original poster… A G series has some increased space up front too.

Great review from a little different perspective… I’m thinking that since alot of guys here have batteries up front, the savings may be even better than a bassboat…
at least a few bucks everytime you fill up… more you fish and tow, more you save… could be 60-90#s lighter up front… (4-6 bowling balls).
I won’t be buying anything till next spring so alot can evolve till then…

when I added a steering wheel switch from land and sea, was just a clamp on piggy back deal near the control lever… very easy with instructions…

My tuffy came with the bolted on Boat buckle kind… sand was an issue just once… rinsed out.. wouldn’t go crazy tightening them down…
My friend has the ones pictured and when he sees my boat buckles, he says hes gotta get those… A few allen head bolts may deter theft somewhat…
try tacklewearhouse for free shipping… you just missed the labor day 15% off sale…

wear should not be a problem unless you got something else going on… Yes that spare sits there going unused, but still aging like the rest of the tires… my experience only is after your 3rd year, start thinking about new tires… all my tire flats have been on year 4… My tire stealership was not happy with the brand of tire that comes with most trailers…
    replace only with trailer tires…
take a few minutes at the ramp when the boat is not on trailer, inspect wheels and tires, give them a good detail job, tire dressing…
take that spare off some time, same deal, get some air in it…
I got a mini vacation coming up, boat will be in the water a few days, gonna give the trailwer a good cleaning…

Skip the seafoam, I use it alot for everything but won’t fix your problem… motor should be horizontal when starting… Some mercs were famous cold starters… Keep that battery fully charged too! you may have to run it on the warm up lever quite a bit… Check all your fuel lines for dryness or cracking… Run eth free gas if posible…

tough motor to get going well, but it can be done… I’d start with carbs, clean em and check all fuel lines for dryness and cracks… Also check fuel bulb… might be dry and cracked… change plugs, fresh gas etc… fully charged battery might help too…
how does motor run wide open?? if this motor was used for trolling may have massive carbon build up…
the year of your motor is important to this post…

I’m with you hamm… labor day… football and hardcore fishin… right to thanksgiving day… winterize a 25hp?? unclamp it, put it in the basement… forget abaht it!!
i fished in an everstart years ago… hit a metal crab pot on the potomac… punched a 3 inch square hole in the lower unit… all the lube out… idled back to ramp… just water in it… went to evinrude trailer… no help from them… jerks… went to hotel… guy saw my problem… told him story… he thunk about it… looked around… said i’ll be back… came back with metal screen and duct tape… he patched it up with the screen and duct tape… filled with lube… ran it that way for 4 more days… no problem… up to 70 mph!! had my best finish ever in an everstart tourney…
I’ve had “pressure checks” done during the winterizing… My opinion, a bunch of guys back your boat in the garage, look at it… pull it out and winterizing done… 130$ please… next…
winterizing the biggest scam in the boat world…
you pay somebody to do this your crazy…

preaseason, less practice thanks to CBA… only so many Mannings to go around… Lotta teams look bad, not showing their cards… FYI… Lotta injuries around the league… may be a factor…

I will predict 2 outcomes by taking a motor to get the lower unit pressure checked…
    1…. under warranty… “no sir no problem looks good… we replaced a few gaskets… that’ll be 90$…”
    2….outa warranty… “Oh… you got some big problems… whole thing shot… that’ll be 1500$… boat will be ready in 6 weeks… ”
water sneaks into lower units all the time… check what ya can… replace gear lube more often!!! takes minutes!!! boating season only 6 months… change it every 6 weeks!!
Check Advanced auto parts website… 25% off and free shipping… get a bunch of quarts! I avoid any product that says “mercury” “honda” “evinrude” pennzoil seems to make a nice marine product… along with lucas… I myself just got 6 Qts of ROYAL PURPLE gear lube from AAP for 40% off and free shipping… (I use regular RP gear lube… see no use for marine grade since I change lube more often…)
if the motor is moving across the water… Don’t sweat it…
when it fails then break down and take it to the Stealership… FYI… It can be done by yourself… if you are handy…
A Stealership sees you as one thing when you walk through the doors… Giant Dollars signs…
DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF!!! money saved can be used for Beef and beer…

Good shop… hard to find… winterizing a huge money maker for boat places… never again for me… I wouldn’t go to any dealer unless something breaks… they see lower unit… and they see one thing… $$$$$ with bottles of marine gear lube readily available at most auto places… (online deals up to 40% off!) no reason we can’t change LU lube more frequently…

nothing done whatsoever… USPS pay cut(near 30%) has put a real damper on all fishing… boat is currently for sale… thanks for the info, I saw that coleman… nice deal… Info noted… Also got the terrova noted… want one bad…

My biggest concern is why are you letting a “stealership” do this when you can do it cheaper and better… Try some top shelf gear lube like royal purple or amzoil with the money you save…

Sounds like a great trip… If it was me… I’d go with a few basics… big chart spinnerbait(chart blades) burn that across the top… if you can pull it off a Zara spook can be amazing at all depths… 3rd choice would be a slider worm… maybe some tubes grubs etc… Best tip would be enjoy the surroundings… you will sleep well…
