Made the trip with wife and kids about 4 years ago. Had no issues in Wolf Point as I needed to stop for gas, but yeah, not some place I would want to be stuck, that is for sure. We went mid-August, never been there before. Walleye fishing was slower, but the Laker bite in 80-110 feet on jigs, jigging raps and jigging spoons was epic. I just picked some deep humps at used the sonar, once you fired them up it was game on. 5-20lbs. Guides would come in with 2 from trolling, we had a cooler full each day. I would love to go back, but yeah, lodging isn’t the best for a family trip.

Yes,^^^^what he said above. The ones with the upside down loans are gonna be the ones to feel it the worst for sure. Oh well, correction necessary for some will help others.
October 5, 2023 at 2:10 pm #2228325I don’t think anyone said that a toy would “bankrupt” said people. They are just an item that is first to go “bye-Bye” for people who need to cut costs someplace in their budget. Staring at 15 year loan on a 2 year old boat that they have used 6 times tends to make the decision easy, even if the payment is only 200 dollars a month.
I have been casually looking lately again and lots of lightly used 2019-2020 rigs popping up for some friendlier prices than just 3 months ago.Everyone has an opinion on what something is worth I guess, but ultimately the “need to” factor may come in to play on some good buys upcoming.
September 26, 2023 at 9:21 pm #2226496Which stuff off Amazon did you use? How did you glue it down? How did you cut it? Any additional info you care to share would be great. I’m strongly considering a knockoff product as 2k is steep
September 4, 2023 at 8:04 am #2222401So if I store my boat in cold storage all winter do they have to be removed or can they stay in boat? My AGM I just fully charge and leave in boat disconnected. This is really the only dilemma holding me back from switching.

July 23, 2023 at 8:26 am #2214755You for sure need at least 100 yards of backing on it. You let all the lead out and fish makes run when it hits, then what?
I would recommend a line counter for sure. Lead is all about repeating what’s working over and over and the line counter helps a lot. Can be done without but easier with.July 7, 2023 at 12:47 pm #2212453“Really badly want a Coonan .357. Also looking at potential for 9×25 dillon. It’s all so much more fun than .45 AARP ”

April 17, 2023 at 11:37 am #2196427I had my 2014 6.2 grenade at 68k miles. #5 cylinder. Tech wouldn’t admit to the AFM being the issue but the everyone else I talked to looked at all the pictures and says they told a different story.
Long story short I put a crate motor in it, and put in the tuner that Bearcat uses to delete the AFM and increase performance, and it has made world of difference. I have the 6 speed Trans and it has a clunk when it shift from 2nd-3rd sometimes that from what I can tell is common in that unit. The tuner chip has fixed the oil consumption, and the gas mileage is really no different, possibly better depending how hard I drive it. I like the truck, but all these motor horror stories really make me hesitant to own another one. Not a RAM person and don’t know that I will be. I tend to keep and take good care of them at least 10 years and don’t think those trucks are built for looking good after a decade.
I just got my wife a 22′ Nissan pathfinder and it has been good so far, (about a year old). The Nissan Titan will get a look when i update my pickup, as they still offer a full size bed in there XD model.February 17, 2023 at 7:41 am #2182449Personal preference I guess. But to me the birds or hard to navigate.
Side question though. Can I ask where the deal on the Live 12 is? Been in the market for one possibly to upgrade my Gen 3 unit.
February 9, 2023 at 11:25 am #2180404Any idea which “brand” it would be or what the name on label is?
I haven’t seen an Amazon labeled one but that certainly doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Thanks again
December 21, 2022 at 3:57 pm #2168513For those that want something different, try Marie Sharp’s hot sauce made in Belize. It’s fantastic, and I’ve tried them all. Still is the best I have ever had. I brought back as much as I could stuff in my luggage when I was there, but now I buy it on Amazon.
December 3, 2022 at 8:12 pm #2163537I would say you could go back now with your gun and should be good to finish him or drag him out if he couldn’t lift his head before.
Coyote problem sucks
December 2, 2022 at 11:17 am #2163269I have the setup you referenced above. It is on the Summit equipment and it is ok. The bag is nice, and the shuttle works. Not sure of the abuse it could take, but if you had one already then I guess it should work again. The ARC lab one is nice, but man, for the cost I dunno if I can stomach it. I used the ice shuttle in boat this year, and while the Summit pole worked, I can see the advantage of a more rigid mounting pole for open water. I recommend the biggest battery you can swing though, as the 9 Live and AT are power thirsty, especially on full brightness.
It for sure changed the approach on fishing, and it is quite the tool. Personally I think the AT is superior to the Garmin, but I know that is opinion. HDS Live units are great, and I see the 9 is marked down to 1000 some places, which is a great buy.
Good luck!
September 30, 2022 at 2:45 pm #2149656Bearcat,
what was the water temp now? I was last there around the 12th and it was still in the low 70’s depending on the sun. That was on east side near Daisy bay.
May head up early next week for a quick overnight.September 7, 2022 at 4:28 pm #2145605Forgive me if I missed it above, but can anyone give water temp currently(or when you left)?
Thanks in advance!
August 7, 2022 at 12:55 pm #2139894I bought a replacement SS burner and drip covers off eBay. It was like 40 bucks maybe. Can’t remember. Bought the cast iron grates from Amazon for 50 more I think. This was for a 20 year old Weber Genesis. No complaints after a year. And I use mine 5 nights a week year round. Seemed better than 1300 for a new one.
August 5, 2022 at 10:33 am #2139654The RTIC softsides have pretty crappy zippers, at least mine does. We don’t even zip ours shut anymore since it’s such a PITA.
I can second this. Mine is junk as well. I wouldn’t spend a nickel on another product from them. Customer service was awful as well.
July 16, 2022 at 11:33 am #2135689Anyone known if the Oak Park Heights launch has begun yet?
I was down on that stretch of river Monday and there is still no activity on the proposed site.
Who can say they are surprised…..
July 11, 2022 at 8:22 pm #2134564Lamotte auto in Newport has been doing a few things for us lately, honest and straightforward for sure. May be worth a call.
July 10, 2022 at 1:37 pm #2134240You are more than likely gonna have a hard time finding one for that vintage. You can call Taylor direct and ask them if they still make them, but multiple people have claimed they do not. Guessing you might be able to retrofit a newer one but could take some work. The new models are wider so anything from 2008 and up is gonna be too big. Good luck in your search.
