Last year we did stupendous this week. 250 walleyes between 2 boats. Spinners and a piece of crawler.
Hope that we have the same success this year.
New to me boat to break in.
Anyone doing any good? Heard the trolling bite was on in 15-17′.

Let me know if your going to be up there too and maybe we can share secrets. Staying at Forest Lane Resort in Big Bay.

I’ll be fishing out of Fortune Bay on the 10th with a guide. If I forget to post an update send me a PM and I can let you know how and what we did. If you caught 250 last year I don’t think you need any help though lol

I’m heading up tomorrow morning. I’ll post a update. Hope the bites good. But I enjoy the search on that lake. It’s one I can always think out side the box and catch fish

I am staying about 2 miles West of the Casino. I will be getting up there about 3:00 on the 10th. So your information might be real interesting. I hear the trolling bite in deeper water (22-30fow) is going good right now.
Any helpful hints are ALWAYS appreciated. Seems every time I go up there it takes me a day or two to figure it out…IF I figure it out.
    Thanks
    Have fun

We have been up since Wednesday. I have found fish in 12 ft of water all the way to 30. Nightcrawlers on spinners or a chunk of crawler on a jig in 12 to 20 ft of water has been best for us. I chose not to fish over 30 ft. We had a musky hit a 13 inch walleye coming in to the boat and didn’t let go until we swooped at him with the net. I heard cranks are doing good right now as well. Weather has been beautiful and we decided to go home late tonight and come back this upcoming weekend again.
We stayed at McKinley campgrounds in soudan and fished everywhere from cherry island, potato island, Ely Island and all over hell. But to find fish we never had to go far. It was more of a family boat ride when we went further and then marked fish and caught them. I doubt you will have any tough time finding fish. At our camp grounds the fish cleaning shack was busy all day and night

I will be up there Forest Lane 8-15th. I will be the older guy with 1991 Alumacraft Magnum CS with Evinrude (Suzuki) 4 Stroke. Was up there last year with my wife for 4 days in September and 4 days in October. Was there in July, spinner bite, suspect same in September, I did catch some on lead line cranks last September just for variety. October is jig time (my favorite). I think I talked to you and your partner last September. I love walleye fishing, sometimes its a struggle, but I love trying. See you there.

Thanks Bearcat. GREAT report!!! Sounds like the same scenario we had last year.
    The Muskie sounded fun!!!
Just as a warm up I went out on Lake Pepin caught a few but they were not fast and furious by any means.

David, look forward to seeing you again. Going to be interesting for us to try the new boat out on the big lake. Its vastly different then the old boat.
We will be in cabin one.

Ready or not Walleyes…here we come!!!

    WOO HOOO!!!!

No need to leave white iron. That lake is awesome especially that time of year

Forgive me if I missed it above, but can anyone give water temp currently(or when you left)?

    Thanks in advance!

Caught 40 walleye today total. Had 12 keepers between 8am and 10 in about 12-16 ft on Lindy rig with minnow. Afterwards tried crappie fishing in deeper water and caught three 14″ and several more walleye. Definitely slowed down after about 11 and was kind of dead after noon.

Got the boat in the water just as rain and wind came in. Did catch 4 smalls in about half hour once it calmed down. First one came in 2 min after dropping the line in.Spinner crawler.

We caught all of ours on Lindy rig with minnows. Boat right next to us was using crawlers and only caught small ones and not as many.

Just got back again from the big v, fishing was again good but the wind whooped our butts. Lindy and minnow, jig and minnow, bottom bouncers, crank baits, husky Jerks. They all produced fish. We found fish from 6 ft of water out to 25. Tried to stay shallower then 16. Seen guys jigging 40 ft of water as well but that doesn’t excite me.
Cooler weather is creating a great bite. I couldnt get a fish to touch a small sucker minnow, they only wanted chubs. I will be back up again in the next couple weeks. Life is now getting busy, duck hunting, best fishing of the year, deer hunting and the dreadful work.

You can see my video report at Chapman Street Adventures on YouTube

On our last day 5 minutes before we were we’re at the dock. We caught these 2 Quality fish was a great way to finish the week.

    Bearcat,
what was the water temp now? I was last there around the 12th and it was still in the low 70’s depending on the sun. That was on east side near Daisy bay.
May head up early next week for a quick overnight.

It was low 60s but the cool weather probably in the upper 50s now. I’ll be up 1 maybe 2 more times, do a little duck hunting in the am, grouse in the early after noon and fish the evening. I imagine that bite is turning up even better now
