Go off the double boat ramp past the Rangers house which will put you west of the swimming/beach area and walk out about 125 steps from the east boat landing and you should find a sunken tree in about 25-30 foot of water have had good luck on some fair crappie and blue gill. Their should be a lot of holes around this area as it is fished alot but you better have a vexlar or you will have trouble fishing this area.

Good luck and keep us posted how you do~!

Yes it was Roy! It was his request to be cremated and we took him to a small cemetary up by Mattsels and part of him we took to his favorite hunting place and it was by chance the last place we ever hunted together. I realy miss him but I know he is with me especially out in nature hunting fishing.

My son and I went up to Central City and got on the ice the blue gills run small but we did get a dozen and we saw a guy catch a nice crappie about 12 incher. If it dont stay cold the ice will probaly melt in the next few days. There was on about 2ilnches but it was good firm ice and it had better be with my size. Plan on going back up on Wed so will keep you posted

Thanks James we will give it a try and if the eyes do not bite maybe we will try for some pan fish as we have been doing real good on the crappie and bluegill at pool 10 so they should be hitting up your way also!

Fished the Missippi on Friday and Saturday for crappie with no luck but did pick up 5 small mouth and one northern! The river came up and was not able to find crappies but last week before it came up I did pick up 20 nice ones all over 12 inches and they look like it will not be long and they will be in the spawn mode!

I also had good luck Saturday and kept 20 crappie and all were over 12 inches and were all caught on pink and white plastic grub fished below bobber at three foot in 10 ft plus water! Tried minnows but only taker was a northern about 5 lbs so stuck with just plain plastic grub no minnows!

Sounds to me that some one had a bad day walleye fishing! I have had my bad days also but I never got that frustrated and just hope they get the person as that hurts a lot of people and can be very serious bomb or no bomb!

Fished from Guttenburg to Cassville and we never caught one fish but did see some 10 inchers caught and yes they were sauger not blue gills if you get a chance read the report on promoting pool 4 and reply to MN concerns, They are sure welcome to come down and share our sucess!

I am sorry if you feel that Pool 4 is being promoted and it will cause a decline in fishing but I want you to know that I was up their a few weeks ago and spent $52.00 for a lisence and doled out several hundred dollars for cabin gas and food for my son and a friend and we each brought home a limit of fish since it was my first time their and we released over a 100 fish in three days and just kept some small sauger to eat! If it take regulations to make you happy then go for it or better yet come down to pool 10 and eleven and see what it takes to catch a limit their and you to would rush back to pool 4. After I took my boat out I was approached my a few fellows the the big state of Mn and they to asked why I did not stay down at Guttenburg and fish! Thanks for the welcome guys as this was my first time at pool 4 and I want to come back but it will be a one trip yearly and yes it will be catch and release but if I want to bring a few fish home I think the money that I spend should help with the problems of the entire state not just pool 4 declineing fish population!

A friend was at Mcbride on Wed. and caught a dozen keeper crappie but said it was slow and could only get them to bite on a hook and minnow. With the weather the way it is I think I will pass for fishing the river this weekend.

Ordered mine today also and hope this will lead to where James says the fish congregate but I guess for $25.00 that would be to much to expect!

We fished redwing the last few days and drove home yesterday p.m. and followed the river all the way down and the river was wide open and so were the ramps. Only saw a few boats fishing each dam so can not say how fishing is but if you want to catch a nice bunch of fish go to redwing as it was the most fun I have had in years and recomend everts resort as they are nice people and will put you on fish!

I agree with all the comments from WI and MN fisherman and I think you should pay $50.00 for your liscence and that would keep that Junk from floating down to Iowa and then we would not have to pay a increase in our Liscence Just kidding guys we all have the same problem and I will do everything in my power to support what it takes to clean up our rivers. Right now I am lobbying to get larger motors than a 9.9 on lake McBride but I dont feel I will have much sucess for just the reasons you have mentioned as there is a lot of land owners that do not like what they are seeing and that is just from a small majority of fishermen! What I think we should do is if we see littering going on just right down the boat number or license number of the car and turn it into the authorities as they do not have the resources to see it so we must help them! They have it for poaching so why not littering! It will not take long when their names and fines get posted in their local newspaper for the message to get out to others.

If you are down near Cassville could you do me a favor and check and see if the boat ramp is open by either of the power plants as I was up their last week and it was getting close to getting a boat in but needed a few more warm days and I want to try for some walleye by the upper plant.

    Thanks
