Mercury’s are very picky about battery power. Even though you charged them up, they may be still too weak to actually start the engine.

What amp hour size are people going with for trolling motor batteries? I have an 80# Terrova FWIW.

169 from Wigwam Bay to Garrison also has a road resurfacing project from 4/29-5/3 for those heading up to fish

The DOT website says 2026 for the work in Garrison. Is this something different.

CWD has been in Wyoming and Colorado for 40 plus years. I have to assume that there has been a lot of venison and elk eaten that may have tested positive for CWD if anyone knew to look for it. Don’t get me wrong, CWD is something to be concerned about for both wildlife and human health, but I do wonder where all the sick/dead people are that ate infected meat.

This type of stuff happens everywhere. Lake Minnetonka, Gull, Whitefish Chain… They all had rich people buy up property, tear down cabins and build one huge house. The difference here is that the lefties in Duluth feel the need to stick their noses into someone’s business. She bought the houses fair and square. Just because she may have paid way more than they were worth doesn’t mean anything other than the remaining property values just skyrocketed. I’ve never been out on the point but looking at it on Google Maps it seems as though there’s no shortage of houses there.

FWIW I thought it was interesting that the article states: Dan O’Neill, a 71-year-old Park Point native and retired union organizer, told the Journal he sold his house to Cargill last year for $825,000. “I think Kathy Cargill is a well-meaning lady. I have faith that they are going to do the right thing. They’re all very pleasant and I really believe that they want to blend it into the Park Point environment. No way it’s going to be some McMansion.” Looks like Ol’ Kathy turned a died in the wool union guy into quite a capitalist. applause

My first thought. What about the other 4 walls. I assume they are constructed the same. I’d look really hard at them before making a decision.

If it’s just the one wall I’m wondering if it’s caused by a lack of a gutter on that side or the yard is slopped toward the house. If the back fill was clay I could see water running between the clay and foundation and freezing causing the bulge. This is just conjecture. I’m not an engineer or builder, but I have had a frozen beer can explode before.

When we sold in 2014, the buyer insisted upon it. At that time, it cost me $1500, which seemed like a complete ripoff for what it entailed.

About the same for me back in 2016.

Thing is you can give a group of people money and land, but if they do not change their ways or fix their broken cultural issues … that money and land will just cycle back to ____.

That’s probably happening faster than they realize. The demographics show the number of births in MN declining for a decade and have been less than 1000 since 2019. The total population may be increasing but that is probably due to an increase in self identifying as native and/or people using 23 and me.

The way I understood the bill is that only state land would be involved. Not that it makes the bill better in anyway. It also doesn’t say anything about using eminent domain or foreclosing on private property. So I’m missing how all the talk of the tribes shutting down fishing would happen. This certainly may be step one in the Red Lake Band getting control on the entire lake though.

As far as their pot goes, once the dispensaries open in most cities, no one is driving up there to buy anything. I highly, no pun, doubt they could grow their own quality product given the soil up there is cr@p for any type of crop.

Why don’t these soon to be out of work people get together and start their own ride share company? Then they can pay themselves the $1000 per hour they think they deserve.

From my understanding there is way more to adding land to a reservation than a tribe just buying or being given it. The Feds need to get involved. The legislature can’t just give land away because some bleeding hearts feel guilty about their inner hatred for a group of people.

Orange and black are killer pike colors. Many many years ago Mister Twister had a yellow double tailed twister with black dots that was my go to pike bait. It was great at a trailer on spinner baits like yours.

The hockey gods have deemed an Edina win so Sweet Lou can slobber over the Hornets one last time. I’m going to miss the man, but won’t be surprised by a guest appearance once in awhile. Hockey immortality.

Yep I was wrong on who’d they play, but I called the cake eaters in the final.

If it is not a big issue for you then why are you in favor of banning it?

Is it simply you don’t use it so others should not?

I have stated my reasons several times. It has nothing to do with if I don’t have one, Others should not. I do know if my whole goal every time I go fishing was to catch and keep limits of fish, you can bet I’d own one. It may surprise you but there are a fair # of fishermen who that’s their goal every outing.

Isn’t it everyone’s goal to catch as many fish as possible? Heck I want to catch a fish on every cast. I know it won’t happen, except for the occasional hot bluegill bite, but I’m not out there for casting practice. Now if you’re talking about a goal of KEEPING a limit every time, I agree.

BTW doesn’t Wisconsin still have trolling bans on some lakes? That one always made me shake my head.

I was in a meeting where the Red Lake Chairman was speaking about their reservation and how bad the fentanyl/addiction crisis was. The next breath he welcomed everyone to come to the opening of the cannabis dispensary and how great it was. ??? He really didn’t see the hypocrisy through the dollar signs in his eyes.

My conspiracy theory is taking shape with Tonka and Lakeville out. That may ease the much hated Edina’s path a bit. I forsee an old fashion North vs South final. Hopefully Grand Rapids taps into some of that old Iron Range magic and brings the championship back north.

I consulted with the hockey gods and since this is Sweet Lou’s last hurrah, they rigged it so Edina will win the AA title.

Hypothetical… If the resorts let people out on 2 inches of ice and tell their paying customers it’s all good and someone falls in and dies, is the resort at all responsible?

There’s a line drawn somewhere but I will admit it’s more gray than black and white. Common sense goes a long way and these rescues happening every couple days are getting out of control and are a really bad look for the ice fishing community.

Hypothetical if a resort lets a 14 foot john boat out fishing in 3 foot waves are they responsible if they get swamped.
    I’d say no.

Since your question hasn’t happened and won’t happen I would say anyone that walks on 2 inches of ice is an idiot.
    Yes you may die.

I was thinking the same thing, but…I can easily see if it’s too rough for my taste. I can’t tell how thick the ice is unless I test it for myself. IMO if a resort is open in the winter for fishing guys assume that the ice is good enough to go out in some fashion (walking, ATV, SXS, truck, diesel pusher with a 54 foot Ice Castle…) The level of safety is determined by the guy at the bait shop or resort for a lot of people. That can be a bad decision. How many of those guys rescued said “well the guy at the resort said…”

This is a bad ice fishing year and I think it’s going to get worse once it gets cold. There will be a bunch of stupid people around the metro going for a swim because it got cold for a few days. Guaranteed someone goes swimming on Tonka.

Most of the water laws are actually local ordinances such as speed, time of operation, engine size, direction of travel etc. I’d check with the municipality or sheriff where your friend usually uses his boat.

FWIW the link that Jon posted only applied to how loud a boat motor is, not how loud the radio is.
