Just that some people don’t treat their animals the same as you or I. And the laws are very vague, which allows treatment many would consider poor or inhumane.
CAFO (Confined Animal Feeding Operations) is an example.

The entire problem with all of this is that the Ojibwe are not indigenous to the area, they are from the east coast and migrated to the area in the 1750s.
This area was originally indigenous to the Dakota.
The Ojibwe fought the Dakota and pushed them west.

The Ojibwe heritage at Mille Lacs is as old as the European heritage at Mille Lacs.

Even Wakon is a Dakota name.

This is all about the treaty and how it has created segregation and racism in this county.

Paul missed a few things:
Racing tractors when the parents were at the neighbors, playing Euchre.
Shooting rats in the dairy barn with a pellet gun.
Riding hefers, playing rodeo in the calf barn.
Jumping from the top of the grain bin into the soy beans, seeing who had the guts to jump from the highest point.
Drinking fresh milk, from the bulk tank, trying anything in the world to kill a hang over on Saturday morning from the Chitty-Schmidties.

Not to come across as a prick, but if your batteries are dead, you either have a draw or you didn’t maintain them.

You have to take care of your batteries.

However, if you purchased a bad battery from the start, then it is a different story. A brand new battery, in storage at the store should be at 12.7v or higher. If it is at 12.69v, I would not purchase it. 12.75 to 12.8 would be best.

While I enjoy seeing pics of bigger bucks on camera that have become older and nocturnal, those bigger, older bucks I’m seeing in zone 3 are NOT getting harvested. They are nocturnal.

As for APR, it is NOTHING MORE THAN ANTLER GREED.
It has nothing to do with buck harvest or balance of heard. If that was the case, there would be less does taken OR there would not be an open buck harvest. This would be regulated by the DNR, just like it has for anterless harvest for so many years.

It is nothing more than antler greed.
While the majority of people want to shoot a trophy buck or catch a 10lb walleye, if they are “common”, then they are not trophies, are they?

NOT EVERYONE CAN HAVE A TROPHY! This isn’t soccer people. Not everyone can have a trophy. Not everyone wins.
Not everyone is in it for the competition.
Some people enjoy “hunting”, not shooting big antlers.

But, as I said, I’m enjoying seeing the half-dozen 8pt- to 12pt bucks we are seeing that are nocturnal.

HOWEVER, on a flip side of the coin, I know of several areas in zone 3 that have minimal hunting pressure, but do not produce big antler bucks.
I think they should roll zone 3 into “earn a buck” program by shooting a doe first and that no archery should take a buck. All archery should be anterless only. Because archery is about the hunt, not the animal, right?????

I’m sure I struck a few nerves here. But that is OK. The nerves I struck are those who I speak the truth of. The truth being special interest of the minority being shoved down the throat of the majority, through lobbying of our government.

An employee of mine and his two brothers went to the SE corner of Idaho.
Over-the-counter bull elk tag was something in the range of $400 for non-resident.

They brought a 4-wheeler to assist and went 7 miles up in the mountains.

2nd day in the hunt, a 340″ class 6×6 was taken by my employee on state/federal land. All on their own.

Other than the 4 wheeler, it was a true camping trip of staying in small tents for 5 days.

What an incredible hunt in my opinion, as well as a “real” hunt, and with brothers.

A mix of a hunt (without cages, fences, or guides), with “natural” trophys (a 340″ 6×6 bull is a trophy in my book with archery, done with the brothers you love, with a sport they all love…….together.

This combo can’t be beat with a 2 3/4″, 3/4oz Federal Barnes Expander, tipped.

Took a doe at 220 yards, confirmed with a range finder. I’m zeroed in at 150 yards, holding approximate 2-3 MOA.

Even in the flats around Upper Red Lake, the “bog” has no opening for a 400yd shot because of tall grass and brush. They don’t stand as tall as a deer and not every wolf weighs 150lbs…..

The only way I could see a clear 400yd shot on a “dog” would be a picked hayfield that would cover a quarter section of land.

I’m picturing these dogs up in the arrow head region across to Red Lake area. Are people actually seeing them in open fields of the NW part of the state?

Why not buckshot?

If one wants a low-price introductory rifle, this gun is it. However, for another $100 to $150, one can purchase the TC Venture or the Weatherby Vanguard 2, which both have better stocks and adjustable triggers.
The accuracy from reviews appears to be equal to the Axis.
To me, trigger performance is more than half the battle when it comes to accuracy.

I wish I could take credit……but the last 2 times out, it is my buddy who is catching the big fish.
In the last 2 trips, he had 6 fish between 37 to 42 inches (a 37″, 38″, 38.5″, 40″, 41″, and a 42″).

Someone PLEASE tell me how 2 guys, fishing the same area, 2 rods each, suckers under corks, same set ups, and he KILLS me 4 fish to my 1 and he catches all the big fish. WTF!!!!!!!!
Very humbling to be honest.
Especially when it is his boat, so I’m buying the $18/dozen sucker minnows!!!! I get to “watch the show”.

To rub it in worse, he wears a shirt that says:
“If you don’t succeed on your first try, maybe success ain’t your thing!”

After a morning of pike chasing and burning up 2 dozen suckers on pike, boating 17 fish from 3lbs to 42″, trolled from noon to 2pm and caught approximately 6 walleyes/saugers on cranks.

All fish released.

If I had to use a line-counter reel for bottom-bouncing a rocky reef, I’d crank up the line a good 5′ off the bottom and throw the rod in the rod holder, kick back in the chair, and take a nap…….Too cumbersome and no benefit.

If you use a line counter on bottom bouncing to find your depth and repeat it, then do you use a line counter to fish jigs on the river? To repeat the depth?

Too bulking and cumbersome when you are already pulling 2-3oz weights in the first place.

This isn’t a 5-star resort, but it is decent and comfortable. The owners put it in the top 5 places I’ve ever stayed with their great service and hospitality.

It is in the city of Hackensack, but it is off a quiet street. Walking distance to ice cream, parks, shopping, but you hear the frogs croak at night.

Walleyes, pike, bass, panfish prevail. Great fishing.
Clean water for swimming.
Small enough lake to handle all the boats you’d bring, yet big enough to handle any boat you’d bring.

Can’t say enough good things about a family resort that is “reasonable” for cost and has all the amenities and comfort, without making one feel too close to home that you have to worry about work.

Planning on taking the family there next summer for a week.

ummmmmmmmmm, not if it is the teflon-sealed-cap U-joints. Butane torch will work, but Oxy torch is MUCH easier. Burn off that teflon and it will fall apart. If you DO NOT burn off ALL of the teflon, have fun with a sledge hammer or big vice……….and get a snicker’s bar, cause “it’s going to be awhile”…….

When you burn the teflon seal out of the pin-hole, it squirts out. If it doesn’t squirt out, it ain’t coming apart!

That is no different than telling the police that a car, gun, boat, fish locator, or anything else identifiable via serial number is stolen. If you don’t have the serial number, you are SOL, because there is no proof.

Take a wild guess at how many 25hp short-shaft evinrude motors exist?

Write it off as gone…..

Got a serial number on that motor to prove it was yours or do the cops have that serial number so they will know it is stolen?
