Hey strangers! How have you all been!
I’m still around, just don’t post anymore.

However, I want to state this, because this has been bothering me for several years. All people do is beoch, beoch, beoch……No action.

Get out of your chair and start protesting. Every other race, religion, color, and creed are protesting.
    And they are protesting laws.
Think of the civil rights movement. They changed laws. All for civil rights.

So, until you all mass together and start protesting and breaking the laws, you will not change anything. (Breaking a law doesn’t necessarily mean violence or hurting other people/property) People break the law every day they drive over 55mph.

The slaves were freed from slavery, yet it took 100 years for them to have equal rights. They didn’t change that law by sitting on their azz…..They protested. Whether is was sharing the same drinking fountain, the same booth at a café, or what seat they could share on a bus.

Quit your beoching and go protest.
Launch the boat and start catching walleyes.
Mr. Fellegy started it when he broke the law in front of the DNR in protest. But non of you want to go protest.

Launch your boat on the pond and go start catching/keeping/eating walleyes.
    Start your protest.

Otherwise, it is another happy spring of netting walleyes for a specific race of people who have rights that no other race of people do.

    See ya,
    I’m outa here……

Great post Gary. I won’t be the one to fish before the season opens but I’d certainly help shut down 169 or be at a boat launch with others causing a fuss! It starts with the link I posted and then we move on from there. The nets will be hitting the water in no time…RR

Is this still really a thread? Our fathers made a deal many years ago. It became law. Deal with it but honor the agreement. So what? All you Millacs proponents whine and complain about the deal but aren’t we obligated to honor the word of our fathers?

Protest if you must but what we got out of the deal is sooooooo much better than a few fins and rice than I think many of you are victim to the “p_ssy” and “me” generation and have no capacity to see the bigger picture.

    Just my 2 pennies.

Wow. If we can’t even get sportsmen together against the co-management that has ruined the natural resources for a prestigious fishing destination then we have lost.

I don’t live around ML but I did find an interesting retrospect that I live in Savage about a mile from the MN River and drive to Mille Lacs regularly, how many centuries after the Mdewakanton Sioux used to do the same thing traveling to the “great village of the Nadouecioux, called Izatys”.
Note, I don’t go to Izatys.

But now, ML is a disaster and neither want to make the journey.

Perhaps we never deserved to win, as per law. So we gave up the diamond mine in a deal. But doesn’t law matter? Why isn’t it just than simple?

It was the “p_ssy” and “me” comment. I (and over 90% of the readers on this site…) see “the bigger picture” (as you call it) of one race of people getting advantages over other races of people. Pretty simple really…

Do we need to go down the list of “laws” that we as a society decided were outdated, ineffective and/or no longer legal? In all other aspects of society we decided to move away from separate laws based off race, why is this scenario different? Additionally, a strong argument could be made that these separate laws are actually bad for both sides of the agreement, you know if the whole equality among men thing isn’t compelling enough. IMO the really sad part is that most of the average fishermen have given up on the issue altogether, and would be overjoyed with just moving the netting out of the spawn.

To me, This would be so much easier if the other party just had the sense and curtesy to respect the resource enough to not take there allotment until after the fish have spawned.
Go take what you have been awarded as ‘rightfully yours’ but do it in a manner that will help protect the lake for years and generations to come.
I am thinking it would be pretty damn easy to go catch as much fish as you wanted on a daily basis to get to that alloted weight and in doing so after the spawn!

This is the 1st I’ve ever chimmed in on this mess of a Thread related to the Mille Lacs sitatuation at hand and guess that’s about I’ll I have to say

I would agree with you that some renegotiation may be warranted. However, as some have suggested, “a protest for our rights” is just tactical liberal redonk-a-donk. Our rights are already defined by law. The Natives are living by it to my best knowledge. Of course it hurts to see the resource harmed. But the silly notion of “protest” is comical, as if that will do anything for the cause.

Real maturity comes in understanding the picture from both sides…not just our interests. What can we offer in trade for exchange for what we want? It is a negotiation, not a coop. But I for one, am exhausted hearing how the privileged white man has his fishing rights trampled on my the unsavory red man. All men before God are equal and have rights to his creation, particularly when compared against legal and binding agreements in the past by our fathers.

Any variation or opinion to the legal nature of the law in this matter makes you equivalent to the BLM or Feminazi SJW movement. The last thing men of honor need is being compared to the braying ass that is the tactics of the Left.

All I see is a bunch of chubby little red neck babies stomping around the kitchen crying because they can’t have a forth candy bar for dinner.

Fisherman: Dear Congressman, I like fishing. Makes me feel like a man. The length of my willy is tied into the length of my most recent walleye. I don’t like Indians over fishing Millelacs. Please change the law. After all, being the master race that I am, I deserve a limit of 10 walleye every outting with no slot limits.

Congressman: Well, we signed a deal many years ago when we conquered the Indians agreeing they can fish Millelacs.

Fisherman: I don’t agree it’s in the best interest of the ecosystem of the lake.

    Congressman: I understand your disagreement.

Fisherman: So when you gonna do something about it.

Congressman: A deal is a deal. If the lake runs dry, we’ll do something then.

Fisherman: Oh. OK. I guess I only have 9,999 other options to fish then. How will my life exist without MilleLacs? I must smokem war pipe and declare war on the peoples that threaten my ability to provide food for my family…I mean after you deduct the $40,000 for boat and rigging, $10K in rods and tackle and the $150K in the little shack up the road just off the access…THEN I cannot provide for my own.

Yeah, maybe. But I don’t wear your me generation protesting p#ssy hat. Better to be ignorant and decent than a well informed but evil Dick Butkiss. Yep, just used an NFL coaching legend in a burn…that’s how good I am. Now you run along and tell teacher the big bad bully hurt your feelings. If you can squirt out a tear, maybe you’ll get a lolly.

WE do understand the picture THAT NETTING DURING THE SPAWN hurts the walleye. If it was just the Mille Lacs Band it wouldn’t be so bad! They are also not doing it the same way as when that treaty was made. GPS, commercial made nets, DNR landings for their boats.
WE can offer not to build a Casino for restocking that great fishery to not let it be destroyed like Red Lake was. Still let them spear, and let keep fish the way they do fishing!
Look at the money and time WE put into that and we only get to use 1/4 of it!!!

JD……I think you are way off the bubble! I can only agree with about the same info as RR did in your post but since you seem like you would like to enlighten us entitled white men why don’t you post the court case that made this mess with the back grounds of who was litigating the case and the motivations. I think if we all dug into this deeper we would find out the real true and not just one judges opinion on a older than dirt treaty with very vague language.

PROTEST? REALLY, has it come to that? I have a job and responsibilities. I certainly hope this doesn’t happen. That is just going to make all sportsman look like all the other “you know what’s” that have a temper tantrum when they don’t get their way.

And for all you guys that think the lake is in such terrible shape, might want to look at the winter fishing posts at ML. So you can’t keep a damn walleye, BFD, grow up and enjoy fishing. Believe it or not it’s not about how many you bring home.

I don’t like the netting during the spawn any more than the next guy, but the sky is not falling. I am up there every weekend all summer and have been for 25 years. The fishing is excellent and I am not starving to death.

I’m willing to admit I pulled a hard left on the topic but mostly for contrast. I get it that there are legit legal issues with controversy that IS legit. I DON’T, get that people want to protest. We have a legal system. Use it. Ever so slow, I know but a resolve can happen without all of us lowering ourselves to the level of “entitled white man”. Simple definition…I think I “deserve” or have a “right” to something BUT am discontent with the actual rule of law and due process. Therefore, I will pout with my picket sign so people know I’m REALLY serious.

Get it? Some of you are one step away from a KKK convention.

Have the opportunity once again this spring to head on up nort and stick some spawning eyes on beds with the inlaws on tribal land. Heck they said you’ll get a muskie once in awhile too.

Just imagine the cosmic energy of all that milt and eggs seeping from their gapping spear wounds onto the waders of an entitled white man. Yes, you read that right, a white man sticking it to the white man?! The universe wouldn’t know what to do and quite simply, implode.
