I have also pondered this but never tried it. Take a regular tipup and put light tackle on it and set it so it will go off at the slightest bite. Thats my take on it. If it works let me know.
Well i have a showdown and the strap on the case was ripped IN THE BOX when i opened it. Thread and needle fixed it. But…..
Go online and look up The Shores resort. Great people. Not far from walker. Thats where i go out.
Great info JD. I too have been wondering about this. A low preasure system moved in and the fish wont give me the time of day.

There is a front coming through on saturday. That may turn them on. It worked yesterday as we hammered some great crappies

Ryan. I find that it depends on the lake. Like daytime. Drill n search. Find em and your in. Example: i fish crappes in 35 fow on a lake day and night. Another i fish i get them along weed edge in16 fow towards evening
Brainerd area. Gull, whitefsh, pelican still open. Smaller lakes just skimmed over thursday and friday night.
Lowerhay lake on the whitefish chain(brainerd). Have caught some dandy whitefish. Its out my back door so im gonna hit it soon
I have found that it depends on how deep you are fishing. Looks great for shallow water.
