I personally wouldnt be on the ice with your rig unless there was atleast 15″ of good solid ice.
sounds like you have a nice truk n house set up though =D

Its ice castle rv edition they told me it weighed about 5500 pounds don’t know if that’s true when I get it home I’ll run it to work and weigh it to get the for sure weigh though. Bought it at the st Paul ice show it should be ready by Christmas.

Haha well I guess I’ll have to weigh it. Didn’t want the slide out and I wanted toy hauler so that should cut a little weight down

I have a 1 ton diesel (8500 lbs) and a 20 foot salem ice cabin (about 5500 lbs). I feel fairly comfortable on 16 inches, but the more the better. I like to error on the side of safety by waiting for someone else with a similar sized rig going out first. I dont have to be the first guy out. I have heard of guys going out on 12-14 inches with similar rigs and that is crazy to me. Obviously quality of ice is a consideration. Have fun with the new house!!!!

I would say 16″+ and on a marked road. I wouldn’t try and do any trail making at that thickness. But I know people that won’t even think about going out on anything less then 18 with their stuff.

I don’t drive my F150 on less than 16″ of ice.
    Why?
Because i figure the ice thickness can easily vary 4″, and 12″ to me is a safe bet.

Whatever ice you think you have under you, you can bet that there’s an area with less. So error on the side of caution.
