Went up to the upper iowa, turkey river and little paint this weekend and had some sucess with the smallies and trout, however no eye’s above 14 inches, and the same thing has been going for me here on the cedar. I have been gettin nice smallies on two inch twisters and tubes, but no eyes? Just for discussion, whats everyones opinion on this.. water clarity, depth, water temps? I know I am just so dam anxious cause I am graduating school and moving out to Kalispell, Montana to live (great trout fishing!) yet, I LOVE THE CEDAR RIVER!! Funny how I feel like I could take these muddy waters over the crystal clear rivers of montana. LOL. COME ON WALLEYES!

What have you been having your best luck on, I know twisters, 2 inch and 3 inch have been working well for me. Anyways, I plan on hittin up the wapsi tommorw and thursday, along with the cedar. I will post any postive reports lol!

I tried down from the dam aways, nothing but high water and debri. I am wanting to get into snag creek as well but sadfuly it is raging high right now. I reckon I should go try black hawk creek or snag creek where a little less water flow is at.

One of my friends lives in storm lake and I was going to go back and see him in the next two weeks. I have never fished storm and I dont have a boat but I heard there are some good wading spots, could anyone point me in a few right directions? and is fishin at night the best time there? I usually throw twisters and tubes, I am hoping that angle would work there as well. Any info would be great, thank you.

It is pretty high downstream from the dam all the way down through the loo’ However, it is not as bad north of washington union, as the shellrock is dumpin alot of water in from that point on. Went up to a spot in waverly today and caught a few ruff fish, ey at least it was nice to get something on the end of the line! Will forsure be out later this week as the water resides and river temps keep climbing!

I have fished the stretch below indpendence for eyes and smallies and at the dq hole, i have also fished at quasiqueton, I was just wondering if anyone could PM me or let me know some more remote areas on the wapsi that might be worth me giving a shot this spring. Any ideas would help. thank you

I never got to get out much last year in the spring due to high/dirty water and also being to busy with work and school. However, this fall was very productive, I just wanted to know if I should be using the same methods and baits when fishing for eyes in the spring- jigs/twister tails tubes.. jig/minnow combination.. also I wouldnt mind starting off doing some northern fishing up here as well. Any information would be helpful on either eye info or northern info..

Do you just fish off the bank wherever there is open water then? Also, when you say big minnows, u mean ring finger size or bigger? I would love to get into some northerns as well, how big was the one you caught last year? Do you fish the shell rock much?

Andy, did you fish below fraser, or below water works here in Boone. I am actually from boone but go to school at UNI. Anyways, plastics have been doing well down here and jig and minnows up at Cedar Falls. Let me know where ya went and how ya did.

I was able to get out Monday and Tuesday, Monday was alot better than tuesday- caught my eyes in deep eddies or in pools behind sandbars. Jig and minnow, suprisingly caught them all around 1-3 pm. However, there was shade in a few of the areas so that could have helped. The water is ultra clear and it is nice to actually see your fish fight out in front of you! Also, gives ya a chance to see what it is on the end of your line, just in case you happen to loose it. Anyways, hope this helps, has anyone gotten out latley? Happy turkey day

Half the time I will be on a boat and half the time I wont be, are there any areas I could hit on shore do you think? Or would it be too weedy? Also, did you have alot of luck on spinnerbaits and topwater baits at all, because thats about all I am figuring on taking, possibly some twisters and tubes as well. Thanks for your help!
