I run my Halix 7 on a 4.5 amp lithium battery. I has never gone dead on me. I usually only fish up to 3 hours so that may be why I have no issues. Sure is light though in my kitty litter mount.

February 13, 2017 at 6:37 pm #1673753The 20 inches of snow we had today along with the 6 inches 3 days ago and the 8 inches on the way Thursday have us sitting in the chair.
December 19, 2016 at 5:57 am #1658106For me it was a real nice show. Like what is taken place with the changes. Like for me that the pile of slush around the holes was removed. Makes for better camera view. You guys killed my back with all that kneeling. Keep up the good things you are doing.
December 8, 2016 at 10:42 am #1655511I did once. Problem is you have to strain your neck a lot to use it. For me that was a killer.
December 4, 2016 at 9:02 am #1654439Can I ask how you’ve got that mounted in the kitty litter case.? I don’t see anything screwed into the side?
Thanks,
ET
I have a couple 3/4 pieces of ply under it. Gives it a good height and clearance that works for me. With the smaller battery you have room for the xducer stowage. Battery is held in place with Velcro. Handle was resized to fit and held with rivets. Used it all last winter with no issues. I have a nut welded to piece of tin riveted on the inside and the xducer holder just threads in and suppors the xducer. Vex xducer cord stops work good.
December 4, 2016 at 4:22 am #1654414That is great. Can I use my Helix 7 that I have on my boat? I assume I need a new transducer for ice, and is there a kit for connection to the portable battery?
Eric
Same unit. Same power cord. Just attach some spade connectors
November 5, 2016 at 4:05 pm #1648897Used mine most of the winter. Worked very good once I got it set up. Made up a case from a cat litter pail.
October 21, 2016 at 6:49 am #1646133I don’t know what the battery consumption is on the helix 7 or if that is even a concern. You may want to research and possibly downgrade to a 5″ screen to save on juice.
I use the helix 7. I run it on a 4amp. Lithium battery and it last forever.
October 10, 2016 at 1:56 pm #1644140Used mine all last winter. Once dialed in it was NICE. I made up a case from a kitty litter container. I asked Humminbird today if they sell just the case for the 7 and was told no. I replied that they need to get in gear and do it.
August 30, 2016 at 11:28 am #1636657I have heard that Tanaka has stopped the import of the motor used on the Nils Auger. If that is true it may be a game changer. lots of folks going with the cordless drills.
March 3, 2016 at 10:57 am #1603998My Lx6 marks a 3mm jig two feet under the transducer with the transducer half way out of the water with 14” of ice.
But will it mark it with the xducer down a foot?
February 18, 2016 at 10:44 am #1600757I used my Helix 7 today with some of the changes that have been suggested. It was a dream to use. Very crisp returns.
February 2, 2016 at 9:39 am #1597283I have run this battery for 3 seasons now with no issues. It has never gone dead in my 4-6 hour days and it does not need a special charger. I do not have gps.

February 1, 2016 at 5:46 am #1596944Sorry to have posted. Its just me but I kick aside the slush and or snow on all my holes. Maybe I just like a clean work surface. No skimmer used .
January 11, 2016 at 9:31 am #1591425I am running my Helix 7 and good so far. I have fished with a Marcum 3 and other Humminbirds. Some inter with the Marcm. Same old story Marcums like Marcums.
