I don’t normally share morel info, but in SE MN I saw my first ones last Saturday. I went out yesterday, but it was very disappointing. I found plenty of morels, but very small and frost-bitten. I did pick 14 mushrooms at a tree along the highway, but left the rest.

Memorial weekend will be the first descent time to pick, but rumor has it that the selling market will be poor due to our late harvest and great numbers from OR and MO.

3 inches. A great shed hunter once told me to look for 3″ of tine. It will help you slow down and truly see what’s there. I often remind myself of this rule. Lord knows how many sheds I’ve walked by.

I also look on the higher side of large tree trunks. They are a good windblock for bedding deer and a prime location for treerats that may drag sheds closer to home. I found one yesterday with this method, but it was badly chewed.

I’m pretty sure it’s genetic. We had two others like him this year, but one disappeared.

    Dave,
I cannot imagine how hard it would be to lose a child, but one of the first places I would go would be the woods. You could go turkey hunting, but that doesn’t mean you’d have to even bring your gun.

Prayers sent for you and your family.

I’m with your dad on this one. Buying a used ATV is risky enough, but the plow puts it over the top. All of the banging and shifting will put unseen wear on it.

Is the rancher putting cattle or other livestock on the other side of the fence from your clover? Even with tight fences, there’s a chance you’ll lose the plot to bovine. If you are attracting deer, you’ll be attracting livestock too!

There have been multiple confirmed fresh sheds in SE MN. As of last week, I had 1 half rack on camera. The cold spell next week will really loosen them up! I can’t wait!!!

We just had 36 acres surveyed on a very messed-up parcel and it was around $3000. We knew some of the markers and drove him around on our 4wheeler. Not sure if that’s a normal price, but it’s my only reference.

Buy it. We just bought another 36 acres in SE MN. It’s not our ‘dream land’ either, but one cannot predict the future.

Count me in for $50 (I just used the link/website to donate). My wife and I are expecting our first child and I can’t imagine how tough it was for Kaden and his family. I’m glad to help out!

It has been a wacky season in SE MN. I sold 8.62 lbs in 1.5 hours of picking last night, but my honey hole yielded only a handful of morels earlier in the night. I had picked the same spot 4 days prior and only found 1 lb. Best of luck to those out picking!

I sell to Hill’s Morels in LaCrescent, which isn’t much closer. I only know of a few restaurants that buy direct in the Rochester area, but my lips are sealed on that.

I also bought one last summer and really like the gun. In hindsight I wish I would have gotten the Accutrigger, but I was still shooting squirrels at 60 yds.

I do like what you did with the camo.

Smoke them out and shoot them all.

We’ve seen coyotes eating a live cow, while it was stuck in a ditch. After that day, no mercy will ever be shown to a coyote on our farm.

Just yesterday I saw a picture of a deer shed with a broken snare on it. That was a first!

So you’re saying I will have to register my brand new thumb-grip shotgun??? How is this an ‘assault rifle’? This BS will cause more deaths than keeping these guns legal. I’d love to see someone try to make my neighbor register his guns!!!
