I purchased the lowrance elite 9-ti earlier this year and couldn’t be happier. Still have not figured out the little tricks and what not but its very user friendly and have not had a single issue with it yet. My personal preference but when I have been out with guys with the birds the target seperation seems to lack a little to the lowrance. Side imaging seems to be a little better on the bird. To each there own on either or as either are going to make you happy.

As far as the DNR limiting the fishing for walleyes… That subject will open a whole new can of worms!

I am not a big bass fisherman but I have caught some true pigs of smallmouth bobber fishing shallow rock structure. Agate Bay Reef, Lakeside Reef, Flamingo Reef are all good spots. I fish out of Hunters Point and if targeting smallmouth I would hit up all these areas and any other “rocky” structure. Start deep off the structure and work your way shallower until you start catching them. Mille Lacs has some seriously huge smallmouth! If any bass guys want to chime in that would be nice, like I said I am no expert bass fisherman by any means but do catch them fishing for walleyes.

I took off that line and just put coated tip up line on it. Fly line is a great option too I just couldn’t find any cheap enough line to do it. If you go to cabelas check the bargain cave for fly line if you go that route. Don’t use regular tip up line or braid because once a northern swims in circles around your shack you will have one heck of a tangle to deal with! Coated tip up line seems to untangle pretty good. Good luck, nothing better than a late night rattle reel!!

You can fish the lake but cannot “target” walleye. There are so many walleye in the lake that fishing for bass you will still catch walleyes. Great way to fish this way is a slip bobber and a leech. Can’t go wrong with that setup!

Pretty sad these days that a guy has to even think about doing this…

Fly boxes work really well. You can buy them pretty small and are fairly cheap.

I am 5-9 160 lbs. I just bought the medium hard water bibs and medium predator jacket. I did try on the climate jacket and bibs and I would fit in a medium with the climate series. Large was too big for me but I am pretty short. Great product though you will NOT be disappointed!

Just give them a call. I just called and they said they had some crack issues with the center road(believe that goes to flats, and north road but were working on the situation). (320)676-3227 They will give you all the info!

I having a mentally challenged uncle just think of this and it makes me get shook up let alone what happened to you! You literally are a true life saver and to think of this persons family and how much you saved them from a tragic time in their lives. My hat is off to you for helping this person and I hope you feel extremely proud for what you saved from happening!

I have a very slightly used clam nanook I would sell. It is a lightweight 2 man shack if you are interested. Travel cover comes with it also.

My 9.9 merc did this same exact thing. Found a bad coil pack. Replaced it and runs perfect now.

You said that you were using treble hooks? Trolling cranks or what were you doing? I never set the hook on a fish when I troll a crank I just “sweep the rod a little”. I also have had very good luck using gamakatsu hooks.

I use Jason Mitchell’s rods and they are a great rod for the price. I have a 8’6 telescopic rod and I am happy with it. Think it costed me 65 so not bad at all if your buddies lab walks all over it….

Hastings Marina is a great boat launch. Don’t know if the ice is out of the marina yet. They watch over the launch very good too. Very frendly owner who has helped me with my boat a few times.

Suffix with the gore fibers is great!! I use it on all my walleye set ups and catfish set ups. VERY abrasion resistant! Seems smoother coming off the reel then power pro. Don’t get me wrong power pro is still a great product but I switched to all suffix. Just my opinion!

I had Tony Roach take me and my wife out fishing on our honeymoon and it was a very very nice ride!! If I could afford something of this caliber I would not hesitate to get it. We were in some pretty good rollers on Mille Lacs and that boat kept us dry and comfortable. Only complaint from the wife was that it did not have a windshield while we were moving. Best boat I have ever fished out of for sure!

I would really like the catfish regs the same no matter what shore of the river you are on. I want the Wisconsin regs though by using sunfish. Or as I call them…super bait!

I would suggest keeping a very close eye on the weather. The big lake can turn ugly very quickly and if you are walking out especially just remember about the weather. Once again GPS helps a guy out big time! I am on a rock/gravel transition on the east side and have been doing good on rattle reels(for you basically a bobber and fat head minnow). Gem-N-Eye in color green has worked best for me. Good Luck!!

Yeah he has not caught any perch out of his shack but I was thinking of exploring out in the mud west of 2 mile. My friend has a smart phone so we will post a few times this weekend. Good luck! If anything, a cold one always tastes better in an ice shack!!!

I did call the DNR and I sure hope something was done. Do you think that snagging a pregnant fish in the belly and ripping it up hurts the fish? Of course it does and people need to realize that.
