    Camping donuts
Diner biscuits in can (off brands work great) warning buy enough for 3-4 per person
Med sauce pan with 3-4” of cooking oil must be hot (test with a few drops of water)
Cook only 3-4 at time, using tongs or fork flip once golden brown
Using paper bag (lunch bag size ) add 1 cup of sugar in bag, as soon as you remove from the oil, drop bag and shake to cover “donuts “ and remove to paper plate to cool off for a few minutes

Add sugar based on amount of donuts made
You also can add cinnamon to the sugar

We also had a great trip on Kab the week of 08/12 to 08/18. one of the best in 20 years! 3 adults and 2 teenage grandkids (fished part time) we had no problems with our boat slot of 15″ to 16.75″ we only kept 2 person limit and well over 40 in our boat slot were all released, too many to count in the 18″ to 23″ and 1-24″ and 2 at 24.5. most were walleyes vs saugers.Encouraging was the amount of 6″ to 9″ and 12″ to 14″ we caught and released . There is some great year classes for the future! We fished from the Ash River to north/west areas. Air Temp’s were 90 to 80 all week except Tue which was only 66 as a high. No rain or storms. The bite was hot for all periods of the day. The highlight was a 35″ northern on slip bobber. While we had live bait (crawlers, LG leaches and minnows) artificial baits were the preferred presentation. In past Aug visits live bait presentation were more successful. We were up the week of July 4 with my daughters family and the bite was tougher but we still had good fishing. We are planning late Sept 4 day trip with my 2 sons and we can’t wait to see what the Kab fall bite brings us !

The Gateway store normally has weekly reports but has not updated since 7/22/18 not sure why, the 7/22 report does give some insight to conditions 2 weeks ago and summer trends to reefs and deeper water adjacent to points. I will be up there for a week starting on the 11th maybe we will cross paths
    Good luck and tight lines

Check the Gateway site for a fishing review of the past weekend, you can expect low lake levels, watch for rocks etc that normally would be ok if the lake was at normal levels

ditto…. I have the 19 quart. Its works great, however the first thing I did was replace the aerator. The one that came with it was noisy. So I replaced it with a Frabill Aqua-Life that comes with a 12 volt adaptor.

check around online I bought my on sale 1 year ago at for $59.99 shipped its more than a Coleman any day It’s a system when you add the Frabill Aqua-Life. in early Aug 1 week, 90 degrees, 7 dozen, left in boat 24/7 on 12v only lost 2 all week, changed water on Wed with lake water

I 2nd Tim Watson use him 3 years ago he allowed us collect wt points and we have used them since. We fished mid Sept with 1/4 jig/minnow deep in fact deeper than you would normally try. We were up there this yr in late Sept did very good. Can’t wait for next year we may try late Aug to hit the trolling bite. Tim has a very tight schedule book early to advoid disappointment.

I was up on Kab last week from 09/18 to 09/21 (my 2 sons and myself). this is my 8th trip to Kab and 3rd in mid to late Sept. We stayed at Northern Lights on the north/west end of the lake. We did ok each day, we caught 5 eyes between 23-24″, 1 at 25″, a bunch in the 17-22″. we used selective harvest and only brought 6 home from 15-16.75″. We also caught 2 jumbo perch a 12″ and “13 mixed in the walleye areas. The key we discovered was 1/4 jig with muli-color but had to have a splash of white as one of the colors tipped with LG minnows 3-4”. We fished island points deep 28-40′. We tried 1/8 but with the light wind we could not stay connected to the bottom. Normally you felt the weight more than the hit.

Talk of camp was Donut island trolling #7 Raps-purple in 31′ no one would provide the speed or if they were long lining or lead core. We tried the area with jigs as we did not have our trolling equipment with us. Our HDS showed fish mostly in the bottom 4′ but we never hooked any. Trust your locator, no marks move to next island point.

I am heading up to Kab on Wed night this is my 8th trip,3rd in the late Sept period. 3 yr ago I fish with Tim W learned a lot! While rigging may be ok it jig and minnow, deep 25-35’will provide best results. Use 1/4 if possible as they should be light hits. If u can get your hands on some leaches it may surprise u! I can not find any leaches in southeastern WI to bring. Send me a pm and maybe we can talk more. Have fun and tight lines
