If the Ulterra you are considering buying is a 80# thrust you should be good to go with what is currently on your boat.

Nice fish! Those big cats are a lot of fun.

Imho you are spot on for the 494 access. Close to good fishing lots of boats will be out of this access if you have any issues. Good Luck!

Got out to pool 2 this afternoon for a bit, what a gorgeous day! The water temp was in some spots tickling 36 degrees on my little Garmin. Not a lot of fish but some nice ones. 24, 22 couple of 18 a 16 and some smaller ones. The 22″ was very fat. Caught all on blade baits. Tried hair jigs but not for to long as I have no confidence in them. Didn’t have any minnows along this trip.

This made me realize it was time to restock my blade baits.

Blade baits are definitely more expensive than jigs! Thought I had a lifetime supply but now that I am using them so much I have had to order more. I have been using braid to 6# floro but think I am going to try 12# floro to see if I can’t pull a few out instead of breaking off all the time. Worried that maybe the heavier line will affect the “action” but don’t think it will and I can always to back to lighter line if feel not getting bit as much. Using blade has been great for numbers of walleyes but biggest so far this year pool 2 was on a jig and minnow 26″.

Update from my post in 2018. After watching the u tube video of James and Eric catching large walleyes on blade baits for probably the 100th time and rereading posts on blades something must have finally pierced my thick skull on how to fish these baits. I have been hammering the walleyes on Pool 2 and 4 with blades this year and as of right now have to say it is becoming my favorite way to fish this time of year. Took only 6 years but maybe have the technique down toast

The ramp is open at 494 bridge and ice was gone. 4-5 boats in parking lot.

Somebody went out the 494 ramp yesterday. Still looked pretty sketchy as there were a lot of huge ice packs floating around to contend with in front of launch. I saw them cutting out the landing but I would be worried coming back in if still open or blocked with ice flow. I am going by today and hopefully the ice flow moved on down the river and will post later.

not still issuing generic objectives with no specifics that people can really latch on to whatsoever and feel good about.

I think this is spot on. Stopped at the MN fish booth at the ice show and voiced my displeasure at the organization never once reaching out to members to see how we feel about what issues MN fish should pursue. Just got a blank look back and handed me a flyer touting success’s that the DNR was probably going to get with the budget surplus regardless if MN fish was there or not. Not impressed with MN fish.

Just happened to see a you tube video last night where they took different cars parked them facing cement wall and then had a cement truck don’t know what speed but was fast come and smash them from the rear. Completely crumpled a lot of high end vehicles where there would be no chance of survival. The Ford explorer was one of the best for surviving the collusion and was super impressive, they rated 99.9% survival where a lot where rated 0%. Ford bronco came in near the 0%.

I was actually fishing in my cousin boat so I asked him what he has for unit and chip and will let you know. There were two boats both running Garmin and both off. I did have my Navionics on my phone and that was off also so lake probably not mapped.

Hunt around the Embarrass area and same story. More wolves then deer. Son bought property and hunted last two years and have yet to see a deer. He catches them at night on his trail cam so some around.

I have an ultra tow from Northern tool. Works great and wish I would have bought one sooner. I would not hesitate to recommend however I have a lot heavier boat now than when I bought it but still get the job done. The one you are looking at is much heavier duty than I have. Think you will not regret getting.

I too struggle down on Pool 4 as there is a lot of crap in the water right now. Seems like 50′ and pull up and clean. It seemed to me at least if you went farther down the lake the water cleared up a lot not as many dead may flies or weeds floating in the water. I don’t know the answer on how to troll through the soup down there right now.

Super impressive the wining team had a 26 3/4″, 30 1/4″, 29 1/4″, 2-24″, 27″ and to finish with 7 fish 28 1/4″. That was just first place. The other contestants brought in large fish as well. I guess I have to spend more time on this lake but it constantly ends up in more frustration than anything else for me.

I read this on this site and I don’t remember who coined it so I cannot give him his dues but I laugh every time I think of it. I think it applies to this situation.

Lions is open. The dock is still under water for the first 6-8′ and then out so bring boots or plan on your feet getting wet. Good Luck!

You have to have two applications two, three weeks apart. Price was for both applications.

Dithane Strider windsurf pro mixed with water. Could not find receipt so called tree service and this is what they said they are using. Thought for sure would have to cut down trees but they look great now.

I had the same thing happen to my spruce trees. Kept cutting branches off until it was looking pretty bad. Big trees and block neighbors so was really hesitate to cut down. Tree service said they could spray something I will have to look up receipt to tell you what it is but it worked. Trees look great needles started growing on what I thought were half dead branches. Only thing have to have sprayed every year and runs about $ 300 for 4 really large trees. So not cheap but don’t want to look at my neighbors either. Probably go another few years and let it go and see if the tress go bad again.

Keen are very nice boots and have a larger than other shoes toe box which a lot people find very comfortable. Their boots and shoes are good quality. Red Wings are nice boots but very expensive and have a narrower toe box which some people find crowd their toes. Need to try them on. Thorogood boots are good quality and made in WI. Lots of choices hard to go wrong with a name brand boot.

I think you have a good point bucky about the amount of fishing hours on each pool. I believe a 30″ most likely swims in p2 was just curious about success of others. Thanks for all the replys.
