I have forced air. My carrier would only insure me if I had separate flues, and if the stove was ducted, used separate ductwork. Even then, it was at a 50% premium increase.

Before buying, do the math. How long would it take to pay for the woodstove when you consider the increase in your insurance? And depending where you live, if you burn wood, it can cost almost as much as LP…….and you’ll still need a place to store it out of the weather.

Maybe you would like to expand on how Aaron’s little exercise assessed the barotrauma once he couldn’t even see them after they dropped below the ice. That they could swim away was a sign of survival is akin to asserting that just because a buck didn’t immediately drop after being skewered with an arrow, he must be OK.

I was advised long by a wise man that it is exceedingly unsporting to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. You sir, are clearly unarmed. Thus I will defer.

Without a post release study, it is impossible to assess barotrauma because much of it doesn’t manifest itself in the first few moments, let alone the first day! And without that assessment, Aaron can’t even guess what might happen 24 & 48 hours post release. Handling trauma is a separate issue than barotrauma. DUH!

The most difficult part of fishing this way is getting those darned things out of the trees when I’m done. I’m always forgetting that ladder.

OK, we’ll try this one more time. The DNR study was conducted to assess barotrauma. Aaron’s dealt with the handling of released fish. DUH?
Head up, or head down, wet gills or dry gills doesnt assess barotrauma. (But you already knew that.)

Queen of England here. Take a few classes in the DOE before exposing yet ignerunce of how a controlled experiment should be done. If I were to use your methods I’d be claiming to have solved the cold fusion problem.

Absent controls, I’d be hesitant to call it “science”. Seems more like clickbait posing as science. But what do I know. 40+ years in STEM ain’t worth much when compared to the opinion of an online, self appointed, “expert”.

The only thing these studies prove is that anyone who posts something on the internet is an expert. And this thread is proof.
I also see a lot of what might be called envy. Where someone without any training or experience in the scientific method summarily dismissing a study based on bias towards the author.
When dept leaders get dissed as idiots because they were appointed really is an indictment of the disser, and exposes their own ignorance. I personally know a past DNR director/chief. His credentials and character are above reproach, but a bunch on nameless joker’s on the internet would presume to know more than he and delude themselves into thinking they could do a better job? Kindly excuse me while I change my pants! I just wet myself laughing at your pretensions.

I didn’t watch Aaron’s video, but I did have the opportunity to read the whole DNR study. My question is: how is Aaron assessing mortality 24 and 48 hours post release?
A second question involves bias, and not that of the “testers”, but of the readers’. I suspect that if the sources were switched (Aaron’s “study” was swapped with the DNR’s), that many of the same folks who disagreed with the DNR would still disagree because many are biased against them, not the study.
Personally, until someone like Aaron can show me his scientific credentials, the results remain suspect. The folks who designed and conducted the DNR study have those credentials if a master’s degree in a hard science means anything.
I’ve got nothing bad to say about Aaron or his study. Just questions. Did he do what the DNR did and look at mortality rates 1 & 2 days post release? If not, his “data” is meaningless.

These types of lipless crankbaits have been my go-to baits for a few years now. Walleyes smash them. I’ll fish one next to a dead stick for crappies thru the ice. It’s remarkable the number of fish that come in to investigate. Even if they don’t take it, they’ll hit the dead stick.

I’ve been using concrete reinforcing mesh for years. Once it rusts a bit, you can hardly see it around the trees. my trees are all protected by a hoop of the mesh reaching out an average of 5 ft from the trunk of the tree. A single stake is all that’s needed to anchor it. And I can easily move it for mowing/pruning/picking.

I’ve been running Bushnells for years and am very happy with them. Great optics, trigger time, and battery life on all the 4 models I have. I also bought 2 stealth cams(big mistake) from FF several years back. Lousy night pics, and futzy programming will keep me from buying any more.
