five and a half inches of rain tonight in red wing. but don’t worry, it’s still raining. the conditions should be just about perfect for your tourney tomorrow night. good luck.

in an effort to stop the senseless deaths of many flatheads i stopped in at 4 seasons and volunteered to be a mobile weigh in boat for this tourney. if these guys decide to not to use weigh in boats i would suggest not fishing in this tourney. i’m pretty sure if all the out of towners had an assult of their home waters like this they would not be happy about it. just my $.02.

i would say about may 25th. when the big girls start to move into the timber from the deep water. that early bite has always been good to me. unless mudcat is pounding on all my spots [cuz in my mind i own the river].

now that’s funny stuff pug. if the world is flat do you think we could run all the walleye guys over the edge like a herd of buffalo?

white tailed carp? i used to call them boots. until i actually caught a boot . that boot pulled harder than any worthless walleye i ever caught.

lots of good rods out there under $50. i’ve never spent more than $40 on a cat rod. if you like black get an ugly stick. if you like white go to wally world and pick up one of those berkely big game rods for $30. i have three of the big games and i’m pretty sure the fish can’t tell the difference between a cheap rod and $300 rod.

when i lived in the cities i caught quite a few channel cats up to 18 lbs. on cutbait. crawlers will work but the cutbait always produced bigger and more numbers for me. don’t ignore the mouths of the creeks and tributaries that dump in below and above the ford dam. lots of fish in the 5-10lb. range all through the cities. hope that helps.

my guess, one per gallon. i have a 100 gallon tank and if i keep it to 50 or less bullheads they will stay alive for a month. when i know i’ll be fishing a bunch i may put up to 100 in the tank.

years ago i started with a 14 jon. it worked fine. your boat should be good til the water gets high. on a side note i would highly recommend you make me an offer for my 16ft jon. insert your favorite greamlin here.

the stink of a flathead is a badge of honor that should be worn with pride.

swollen goat, that is one funny handle. those wing dams sound like great spots to me. i think i would try the tip, middle [on the downstream side] and throw one bait right up in about 2 feet of water where it meets the shoreline. wing dams can produce fish all season long.

that “rediculous frame” as you called it is actually my favorite feature in this boat. incase you didn’t notice it’s a rod rack which helps to keep the clutter out of the middle of the boat. some of us need the extra space for fighting and landing large fish. but, it does come off in about two minutes for anyone who may not like it.

nope. but if you buy it i’ll give up 15 years worth of info i have gained fishing that muddy timber filled river. i’ll even go as far as marking spots on a map that we wouldn’t have time to fish. let me put it this way, whoever buys this boat will not only get the key to a great boat, but also the key to my favorite playground.

[email protected] whoever buys this boat will get free guided night on the mn. river. that is if you can put up with my nonsense for a night. thank’s for looking.
