Just bought one before Christmas. So far so good. I usually fish by myself in the flip shack but I am a wider load than most (workin on that!). Got mine at Fleet Farm on sale for $264.99! Great outfit for those dollars in my opinion.

The Parmesan mixture is great on fish fillets! Dredge (eggs, milk or butter), coat with parmesan mixture (usually parmesan cheese, bread crumbs and seasonings), and bake until flaky and crispy. It’s a great tasting “lighter-than-frying” way to indulge in the succulent catch of the day!

Might want check out some opportunities in KY. I’ve heard you can hunt hogs with no license down there.

Thanks for the info, Chris. Was on the pond last week and kept a couple nice Tulibee for the smoker. The meat looked good but I’ve never kept them before. I’m headed back to the pond next week and I’m sure we’ll catch more. The steaming recipe sure sounds good so I think I’ll try that next.

I’ve got to tell ya, those anchors that came with my Eskimo hub a few years back really go into the ice well.

… I was just gonna say. The Eskimo anchors are unbeatable. They go in so easily and two or four in the grommets in the corners does the trick. They are $11 per pair at Farm and Fleet and well worth the money.

Thinking of heading to Red some time soon but have not fished there before. Wondering what outfit you went with and any other info you are willing to divulge. Really nice fish in the pics. Looks like you had some fun in spite of a slow bite!

Cut mine on the day I bought the auger. I was tightening the bolts on the blades and my ratchet broke and I opened the finger right up. Didn’t even feel it….. til I took a shower that is! Should have gotten a stitch but scars are cool……aren’t they?

I’d book with RainyDaze just for the chance to see YOU land another one like that! Way to go, Dude! My guess is that you’ll be awake again tonight at 2 thinking about the 30 incher that was. Just awesome!

We just got back from Zippel Bay and it was the Southeast Side catching all the fish! Me… I was set up on the Northwest! Murphy was set up right next to me! Ha! That’s the way it goes some times!

Thanks a ton, Mark. Got a Lakemaster map to study so I’ll mark some of the areas that are producing according to your report and others and start there. Have an older H2O that doesn’t read the newer chips but my paper map has coordinates so I can get in the right areas and punch holes to locate the fish. Looking forward to it. I’ll post my results after the outing. Thanks again for your willingness to share the info.

I have the Cabelas Ice Team 6×12 and fish four in it comfortably. The anchors that come with that particular unit are difficult to get started so I would purchase the Eskimo anchors. They start extremely easily. I have a set of those because I have a Quickfish III unit as well. The 6 x 12 is quite a bit heavier but can be pulled out in a sled pretty easily. Sets up easily as well. Not bad in the wind if you can get an anchor into one of the center grommets first and put it up from there. I would suggest some good led lights for dawn and dusk fishing and a couple of Mr. Buddy heaters when it is really cold. All in all I am really happy with mine and I think you will be too…..

I’d second the accolades for the solo engine. I’ve owned my Strikemaster Lazer Mag Express for just two weeks but I still can’t get over the power and efficiency of the new solo motor. A buddy of mine has the same auger but with the Tecumseh motor and they just don’t perform the same. If you punch alot of holes, Nic, the L-Mag will be an absolute pleasure for you.

The Chetek Chain is producing some really nice gills. Just finished filleting up a dozen and had several between 8-9″. Caught some decent crappies today also – 9-10″ which is pretty decent for the chain. Good luck to you and welcome to the area!

Lake of the Woods, a deck of cards and a cribbage board – a recipe for relaxation! ….oh, and a good pout recipe if you insist on a night bite.

I just make my 15 year old son carry all the heavy stuff. He can carry the Quickfish on his back, pull the sled full of gear with his left hand and carry the auger in his right…. I usually carry a diet coke in my right hand and some chips or something in my left. If you don’t have a fifteen year old son, check in with me on one of those days when I would be willing to sell mine! Just kidding of course… I’d never sell…….might lease though!

Not to mention this episode was obviously staged. I mean after all where were the 5000 other ice-fisherman? And, everyone knows there are no big pike left in Minnesota.

    Well TV adds 10 pounds…

Been getting alot of nice gills on the Chetek Chain… North Prairie and Ojaski. You could also head West on 8 to the lakes around Turtle Lake. Blake has been a good one for panfish and northern for me.

…fished out of mine yesterday with three other adults. Very roomy and comfortable and not as terribly cumbersome as you might think. Really glad I pulled the trigger on this one. Makes party fishing with some of the older adults I take out alot more enjoyable. My kids will love it too…..
