If going only 2 miles I would just load light and make a few more trips. It will also give you a break from loading.

I’ve hit 4 and one hit me while I was stopped and watching it and another one chasing each other playing. Bam right into the front fender.

Great fish James. Must not have been much room left in the hole getting it to fit through.

Should actually be a warmer tournament compared to some. Just wanted to suggest a drawing prize to help those that would like to contribute to the RRR scholarship
fund. Something like 10 bucks a ticket with 100% going to the fund. Maybe someone would donate a trip on the river as a prize or something similar. Just a thought.

I lock both trailer hitch and receiver. I also take off the round adapter to the flat wiring harness and lock it in the truck. I got to the landing once and someone was there complaining that someone had taken his off his harness. Wouldn’t be terrible in the daylight but at night would be bad.

I also believe deer don’t taste the same. A nice young doe tastes good especially in farm country. I remember a trick from my mother was to soak the venison steaks in buttermilk then right to a hot cast iron skillet with some oil. Still try and keep the meet med rare.

Thanks for the reply. Plan on staying up that way for at least a week so will hit Potato and others and will post what I learn. I will probably hit Winnie and Upper Red while I’m up that way. Thanks again.

Thought I would bump back to top. Any favorite bait stores in Park Rapids area? Any local ice thickness reports.
    Thanks

Those are some nice perch. Were you using minnows as well as jigging?

Hey Josh. Just wondering on what you found out in that area? I plan on going that way early January. How was the ice, and any lakes you would recommend? Must be someone fishing this area that has has some input?

After drilling a grid I try the last hole drilled quick if no takers (panfish) then I drop a tip-up and continue.

We use the Ketch All Mouse trap. We have probably 6 of these with some around the house and sheds. Mice like to run along the buildings. We bait them with poison blocks and wind them up. Catch mice, chipmunks and even red squirrels. Just check them every few days. Pets won’t get the poison and the mice wont get away for something else to eat.
I think they are about 15 bucks at fleet farm. Ours are at least 10 years old and still working fine.

I also have bad cramps in quad once in a while. I found that drinking some tonic water helps it go away. Not sure if its just in my head or what but I think the quinine might help. Oh yea plain tonic water no GIN.

We also took a trip over to the SD Badlands, Rapid City, and tried to take in all the sites we could. On the way to Rapid City from Wisconsin we stopped at the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site. Being from a military family (Dad was Air Force) and I was Army I wanted to see it as we were going right by. My wife and I were the only ones at the center and at the launch site. They give a tour which if you’ve never been below ground in a launch facility is unreal. Didn’t look like anything from the road other than a house with a fence around it in the middle of nowhere. We checked out the Visitor Center to get tour reservations and Delta 1 launch control.

“The Minuteman Missile National Historic Site was established in 1999 to illustrate the history and significance of the Cold War, the arms race, and intercontinental ballistic missile development. This National Historic Site preserves the last remaining Minuteman II ICBM system in the United States.”

It is unreal the power of these arms and the amount of them during the cold war. It was real eye opening.

ED.WUSTHOF 4582 6″chef is my favorite knife and I found it at a garage sale for a buck. I use that at least 90% of the time now. I also have a set of Chicago Cutlery which I hardly use anymore.

Shipmate Marine Grease. Don’t know about buying it on line but Menomonie Fleet Farm has it on their website and I even called and they have it. Thought I would also try the Fleet Farm store in Hudson and it is on their website as well, I did not call them.
    Hope that helps.

Yes probably right on the grease I just went with what said marine grease. Going to pick up new seals today. Thought the bearings and races looked great yet so will just repack and put all back together. I’m going to a trailer shop to get seals and I’ll have them look at the races and bearings also just to be sure.
First time I saw races that fit smooth to the inside of the hub where you don’t have much of a lip to tap them out but I’m no trailer mech either.

Shipmate can be bought at Fleet Farm. I just pulled hubs to check bearing and was thinking of what grease and looked at the Lucas Red and Tacky but ended up with the Mystic Marine. I see that Lucas also has a marine grease and was wondering why use the Red and Tacky if they make a marine grease? After looking there is an awful lot of greases out there including some synthetics. I guess I am second guessing my choice.

Hey bigreene89 welcome to site. Hope you get the problem solved. I was wondering where you are fishing and or where are you located. If your close heck I could loan you a board to check out. Are you fishing for Stripers? Have a good day.

Last times I put out the suet feeders the bear seem to get them. They can really smash those wire suet boxes. Hate to have some bear get one of those stuck in its mouth or something. Late winter might put one out here and there. I like to hang the deer rib cage/backbone if I get one as the woodpeckers seem to really like that too and its easy to hang and lasts a long time. Haven’t seen a hummingbird in about two weeks now (Western Wi).

This is what the prototype looks like. Already had the rod holders just needed the brackets and they wanted 30 bucks roughly online. So about 7 bucks can make my own.
