Update, a buddy texted that yesterday three guys fell through at a local pool 7 backwater lake. (Third Lake)

I was out on pool 7 backwaters the last couple days. There was maybe 4-5” but it was deteriorating rapidly.

I think they are great. I find I just use my inlines for everything I do in the backwaters. I have a couple Stradic 1000’s on my ultralight (summer) rods, so if I need a spinning reel for ice fishing I’ll just use them. I need to thin the herd.

A few. The worst was having two Cabela’s fish eagle spinning rods which at the time were very nice rods get whacked at the same time by a ceiling fan. Both broke on the first fish.

The other day I snapped and bought a 24v Strikemaster on sale. It will be great for the river backwaters I fish. Going to resell my pistol bit and M18 fuel. I use my 12v drill for everything around here anyway.

Scheel’s just lowered their prices on Strikemaster augers.

Interesting idea. Bring some cocktail sauce and if it doesn’t work eat the the shrimp.

Years ago I was fishing in a little blue Minute Man shack and it was real windy. I was getting buffeted by some strong gusts. Then a real big gust blasted through and the top crossbar went right down the hole. There it was sticking straight up on the bottom of the lake. Of course attempts to snag it were futile. My brother in law and a friend were on a shanty next to me and when they heard me bellow loudly they thought I had lost a big fish. I wasn’t hard to make a new one out of conduit.

I’ve got a very lightly used 32” split grip I’d let go.

That’s a great tip, wormdunker. It addresses my one minor complaint about the reel. The handle swings down at times and you lose your depth setting a little. I’m going to try it.

Never been a huge Clam fan myself but these Spooler Elites are the best performing reels I’ve found for my backwaters. They just work and I never have tangles.

I don’t know for sure but I suppose the back to back MVP seasons prior to this one has something to do with it.

Pack fan. I hope Rodgers retires. I think he’s hit the wall. The Pack will be mediocre for the foreseeable future and I give Detroit credit too. They are definitely on the rise.

Big fan of the Clam Elite Spooler. Much more trouble free than a free fall type. Stripping line keeps it straighter too.

I think a lot of basic manners have gotten worse since the social media/internet war zones have taken shape. It’s easy to disrespect people on the net and it’s contagious for many. Definitely not a generational thing.
