I just switched from Apple to Android, the biggest thing for me was the differences in some apps, I more expected them to be the same but in app functions got moved around on me and took some getting used to. Both phone operating systems base navigation are easy to learn. Figuring out where some options and settings are located is a simple google search away anyways.

I have the 13 Fishing ghost free fall. The biggest issue I had was having braid on it while fishing out in the cold, it would ice up the line and not feed smoothly if at all. Once I switched to flouro I had no problems. It handled a 7lb northern like a champ but haven’t caught anything bigger than that on it yet.

Should we start placing bets on how many RFA’s will be sitting on the sidelines at the beginning of the season? I’m leaning towards a half dozen across the league.

7′ Medium power, fast action St. Croix BassX paired with a Pfluger President, 20-30lb suffix 832. It has the power to bring most fish through the weeds at the shore line, great casting distance and super versatile. I use it for anything from big top waters to small finesse plastics with a fluorocarbon leader.

The real question would be is Marner willing to sign a contract at 10.5 million so that the offering team is under the limit of giving up 4 first round draft picks. I assume the answer is yes but at that point which team can afford to give up both the picks and the 10.5 mil.

I bought a GLX this spring while it was on sale, while I don’t expect it to catch me millions more fish I did expect it to be light weight, well balanced and comfortable to use all day long day after day on fishing trips. As much as catching extra fish is a bonus the ergonomics of the rod make the experience that much more better.

I have a 14′ shallow V alumacraft with a 5hp merc. It pushes the boat around at 8mph with 2 guys and gear. Super light and easy to take on and off and carry for your application. Not for sale but figured I’d give you some numbers to work with.

I’ve enjoyed what Fishing 13 products I have purchased. It will be interesting how their product availability and pricing will shake out along with future innovations. I’m cautiously optimistic

Each sticker adds at least 10 horse power, flames = 50hp!!

I have braid on all my rods, I find it easier to manage than mono. If I have an application where mono or fluoro would work better I just tie on a leader of however much length is appropriate and have at it. That being said, still nothing wrong with a straight mono set up, but I won’t be going back to that.

I run the Omen Black in 7′ 3″ Medium Fast. I really like the rod, it’s on the stiffer side of medium and almost fishes like a medium/heavy. I like it for trolling spring/early summer pike and for pulling bass out of cover. Great rod, I have no complaints with it. I also have their Widow Maker 32″ Medium/Light for ice fishing, that I paired with the ghost free fall. The Widow Maker is top notch, nice fast tip and super sensitive. The only drawback for the ghost free fall is the same draw back many in line reels have where once it gets below 20 degrees it starts having freeze up issues but perfect for shelter use. Also have to mention their plastics, they’re my go to for pan fishing.

I have the suction cup stick on travel mount for my ducer, not sure what all the fuss is about as for setting it up correctly. I just slap it on and roll, never have any issues.

Well seeing how I’m currently in a 14′ Alumacraft being pushed by a 5 horse can’t get any help past 11mph lol. But I have no complaints for it what so ever performing at those speeds. The MSI is super clear once you get your settings and speed down, I normally search at 3mph with screen speed set to 5 and out to 60′ either side.

I have the Helix 7 G3 MSI which I believe is what you’re looking for.

In all my life (I’m 29) outdoors in Maine, New York and Minnesota, hunting, fishing or ATVing I have only ever once been checked which was in New York fishing under a bridge. He was nice, probably because I’ve always minded my P’s and Q’s asked how the fishing was and moved on his way. I also believe that mostly they just want to leave you alone, unless you’re being specifically sketchy or someone has dropped a dime on you they just don’t have a reason to bother you.

Right on! I’m heading up there tomorrow and will be fishing by Thursday morning. All the reports I’ve seen so far says the lake is hopping for walleyes.

My whole slip bobber case goes with me either season along with the jigs and plastics. Lipless cranks come along with me as well. My helix 7 portable is my fish finder for both seasons, I even let my nieces use my jigging poles for catching sunnies off the dock. Only the vertical jigging spoons/rattles don’t get use from me during the summer time.

I love frogging in weed patches and using a popper around the outside of the weed patches. Also have a lot of luck casting the poppers under low hanging trees when they’re casting shadows. Square bills on a deeper weed line have also been very affective for me but top water is definitely my favorite.

    Dave,

I brought in my rod and wanted to see how much weight it would take to start it rolling on minimum drag setting to make a comparison. It took 2 sounders and 2 #4 split shot to start with. But after a couple of runs it was moving much easier. So I cranked up the drag in bait feeder mode and stripped off line a few times and that seemed to help. I don’t know if it’s a break in thing or a warm up thing but managed to get it down to a single sounder (1.25 oz) pulling the line off on the minimum setting. Switched the reel to a few different rods and all performed roughly the same. The angle in which the rod is held makes a big difference so I tried to keep it at the same angle the IFP holds it at.

Could just be my rod because I have basically the same set up just using Fishing 13’s version of the dead stick and at the reel the line comes off with zero resistance but with my rod at the angle it’s held at in an IFP there is much more resistance pulling essentially where the force would come from a fish. I believe this is being caused by the rubbing friction of the eyelets. Now it’s not so much that a fish couldn’t run with it but I fear that it’s going to tip the fish off that something ain’t right before I get a chance to set the hook. Haven’t gotten any bites on it yet, only took it out for a couple hours so time will tell.

I’ve always been curious about that myself. Is it a weight thing? An additional cost thing? If you get a combo they’ve zip-tied the reel to the rod?? I mean really? Anyways I’ve always used electrical tape and just lived with that I’m not changing reels on that rod. On a different note I really like the reel seat on the Fishing 13 Widow Maker I picked up this year.

Depends on how good yours eyes are. I love the Helix 5 G2, I prefer the smaller package for hole hopping on the ice and don’t have any issues with the screen size during open water applications. My dad on the other hand has to squint at the screen and lean in close to get the same detail I get at 3+ feet away. So no buyers remorse here but I’ve also never used a 7 so may not know what I’m missing out on.
