If it has a thermostat, it could be stuck shut with calcium or other buildup causing water to not reach the hose.

Does it draw any better while in gear, or did you turn the shaft while you had it apart to see if the impeller is turning?

Also make sure the tube from the top of the water pump up to the block is set in the rubber grommet, and not slid out or bent the grommet over restricting water flow. This can be at the top as well. When you drop a lower unit, the tube can also slide out at the top rubber connection.

I noticed a lot of paint chipping on the new ones i just got too, and fishing a mud bottom. The moonshine shiver minnows seemed to hold up well, as did the no name brand from Norway that i bought on ebay. Those were really heavy duty built with thicker hooks and tail fin. I thin they were 5 for $20 in metric sizes similar to size 7 and 9. However nobody but Rapala makes the color that i use and works best in the purpledescent.

I’m on the missouri river system 90 miles below the lowest dam/ Gavins point. The principal reason for the 6 dams on the river being built was flood control and the taming of a volatile river system that would wipe out spring planting and farm grounds due to the spring rains and mountain snow pack melt into the Montana region.
I have had a cabin on the river for the last 21 years, and have never seen more historic flooding in those years.Twice completely wiping it out, and other years not usable at all. We also own river bottom farm ground that has not ever had water on it other than the massive flood of 1952 prior to all the dam structures place. Now recently more than a few times it has been covered by up to 3-4ft. The special interest groups have lobbied congress in the last 20 yrs to change the top priority of the corp of engineers dam system, to cater to wildlife( least terns/piping plover and sturgeon)- followed by recreation/commerce(barge travel), flood control is at the bottom of the 5 critical priorities due to special interests and lobbyists supporting the industries. I’m not trying to make any political statements either way, i’m just saying you may have the same type of situation going on in the Mississippi valley due to some of the priority changes.

The weight differences are usually a wives tale since most don’t realize the differences are not extreme. I.E. the same engine classes use the same blocks, piston, and casing sizes with the only differential being larger carbs and lower units. A 2000 merc 90 weighs 359 lbs, while the 125 weighs 355. Boats transoms are tested at higher motor capacity than the rated sticker. If you’ve ever noticed a coast guard or G&P boat, they are all over rated in order to produce speed and reliability, most having 2 or 3 at the rated capacity. I have had 2 jon boats that were both outfitted with over sized motors and an after market stainless steel transom plate, an 18 ft with a 90 hp yamaha-rated for 60hp, and a 21 ft alumacraft tunnel hull with a 200hp evinrude, rated for 115hp. No transom issues, No issues ever with being checked by the G& P, licensing, or insurance/. You will have to rig it yourself, since a dealer won’t mount an over rated motor. The choice is yours, do what you want within your reason and safety factors.

Let the wife re-arrange everything, and put it away where she thinks it should be moved to. You’ll never have to worry about ever finding it again. That same rule also applies to the garage, shed, and tools.

I’m also from the Omaha area, and i have quit going to or ordering anything from Cabelas. There brand name items were all complete junk made overseas, and it was always an extreme pain to return defective items from ice augers to boots. The wife and i used to shop religiously for all 5 kids from Cabelas exclusively for all of their Christmas gifts, birthdays etc, to the tune of several thousand every year. I have always had great luck with the Redhead brand from Bass Pro and hopefully it doesn’t cheap out, and have Cabelas drag them down to their level of junk. I have given all my online and in-store business to Scheels, FishUSA, etc, since they actually employ knowledgeable staff that can recommend the best items or answer questions without using google. I disavowed Dicks shortly before the Cabelas bad customer service experiences.

    1 to break
1 to get pulled out of the boat
And enough others to urine off my buddy since he only usually has 1 that works or isn’t tangled up in a mess.

So last night about 8 p.m. the wife and i were watching tv, all the windows were open and a nice breeze coming through the living room. And then the house started to smell like smoke, i went out the back door to see who was burning what since you need a burn permit this time of year, didn’t see any smoke or smell much, so i came back in and continued watching My 600lb life ( keep in mind i’m banned from the remote sometimes). So after a while my wife says, who in the hell would be burning something this time of night, and i responded its “probably the jackasses down the hill burning their trash”, and she says “no it smells more like an electrical fire or plastic burning”. So she gets up,opens the front door and looks out, and yells, “the garage is on fire its coming from the garage”. So i flew off the couch, hurdled the coffee table and ran to open the garage door expecting the worst.
Low and behold, it was one of her 4ft flower pots that sit on each side of the garage on fire and smoldering. I then remembered i put my cigarette out in it 2-1/2 hrs earlier. Who in the hell would ever think potting soil was flammable. So after being called every stupid name in the book, and 5 gallons of water putting out the fire, i realized i at least saved myself the ass-chewing in 3 weeks when she found the butt while planting flowers. On a positive note she did say “I’ve never seen you move that fast in 20+ years, and my tough guy response was ” i was just getting out of he house since i knew it was on fire”

I’ve never noticed any negative effects from my ice units accidentally being turned on in the garage or travel, and running for days without me noticing. I’ve also heard its how the Russians are finding our fishing spots, and interfering with them.

The drive by boat would be more than you’d want to try, especially with the windy stretches of the river. Better off trailering up and don’t lose the fishing time. We put in at Elm creek or Platte and work up or down from there depending on fishing reports and how loaded certain boat ramps are, that’s a tell tale sign you are close to the right area. We’ve never done any plugs or casting, usually just spinner rigs and trolling, but want to try the rock fishing this year. I’ve always been on the wrong side of it in years past, so we didn’t give it any thought.

Fished Glen Elder, and would never go back unless your after drum, the lake is overrun with them as well as white bass, very disappointing. I don’t know if there would be any good ice that direction.

I can get an easy 8-11 or 12 hrs on the 9ah battery, the trick is selecting a dark graph screen, avoiding the bottom white-line, finding the correct gain setting, and i’ve also noticed the chart speed setting of ultra or ( real time seeing the jig to fish) also seems to drain the battery faster, so i set it to the number right below. I never use the flasher, just the split graph screen with the 8x zoom. If i change anything it will be adding the Dakota Lithium for around $100 to get 2+ days on the unit. Otherwise the g2 software is awesome, and i won’t update to the 1.83 until its fixed ( bad reviews so far).

Has anyone seen or had experience with these DTV Shredders? Pricey but very cool.
