Im running em at 1.8 to 2.2 into the current! If I do run down current I’m running 2.8 to 3! The biggest thing is to stay on the seam! That’s the critical part.

Talk about the ups and downs of fishing and the grind that is the river. To say it been a frustrating bite would be a understatement this spring! Typically June is a killer month for me but it’s a different story this year! There are a lot of things in play this year and I truly believe we’re on the cusp of a phenomenal bite! The fish are there to be had it’s just been tough to present anything efficiently to get them to go! It’s been high water and wind, dirty water and wind oh and did I mention WIND? Oh well I’m gonna stick with it and when it happens…I’ll be there.

    Mike,
Matt is right on! Line counters are typically used in open water applications or in a lead core scenario. When your in water 15 feet or less there is typically no need. On the river most of the trolling is 10 ft or less and I’m using spinning rods. Give it a toss behind the boat and adjust as needed.

There is always a jig bite no doubt! But I would go with spinners and crankbaits in hand. Those walleyes are on the move along the south shore and i personally would start in the zipple Bay Area and head towards long point and out towards the reefs! Ild cover water and when you find em they’ll show themselves. They’re in food mode and they’re aggressive! I’ve crushed em pulling cranks and I’m putting my baits in front of a lot more fish than anchored and jigging!!

Heading up to LOTW for the first time on June 1st. Anyone want to share some insight on what tactics would likely be best during this time? Not looking for your “honey hole”, just asking for some friendly insight so I’m not heading up there blind.

    Thanks in advance!!

Are you fishing American or Canadian side?
