I went out on pool 2 for a multi species event walleye my usual and try for a few cats. Only 1 cat caught and lost another. However the one I caught went 48″. My scale goes to 50 and jaws coulnd’t hold it. I will post a pict if I can It was a phone. Just a prediction on size would be great. Caught it on a gob or crawlers. I was looking for a few channels ended with a flatty.

It’s hard to really guess due to the huge variance in girth on these big mammas. But, I would say the average 48 incher weighs around 55 lbs, with bigger ones probably approaching 60 and smaller ones closer to 50.

Nice fish! It’s really hard to get excited about walleyes after reeling in a cat that big, I bet (not that I’ve ever done it!).

If it had a good girth it could be a hog. They can get pretty skinny also. I had a 48″ a few years back that went 39lbs. It was a long lean fish, late in the season.
Can’t wait to see a pic if you can.
