I’m going out tonight for some sturgeon and would like to try some new bait. I want to know if it will hurt the fish if they swallow a pouch, say pantyhose or other mesh. I will be releasing any fish that I catch and just want to make sure that they will be able to digest whatever comes off my hook.

If you are wondering if they can digest or eliminate nylon, I would say probably not.

I’m guessing fish that puke up bait are responding to acute stress or toxicity. This scenario probably won’t elicit that kind of reaction.
Its not uncommon to catch a starving emaciated bass with a stomach full of plastic baits.
