That’s what I use because it’s what I have. Works very well.

Go on eBay and search nylon elbow. Should be at the top of the list.
I’ve done it to my Rocky Blizzard Stalkers for years. Works good.
This year I upgraded to a 12v 18ah battery used in scooters and wheel chairs. About the same weight as 2 vex batteries. Lasts all day and if I’m far from home it has juice enough to run lights and a 12v fillet knife.
I had this problem so I loosened the velcro straps attached to the poles. There was enough play so the front touched the ice.
You might try rebuilding the carbon and replacing the fuel line. That’s what I had to do. Similar issue you had. Do you have any fuel leaking anywher?
Mine goes through the tips and I felt no strain pulling my cottage out last weekend. I designed mine with steel legs so attaching to the blocks was not an option.
Very cool. Similar to the setup I put in my cottage. I did add a remote dimmer to mine. What size fuses did you use? I went with 10 amp blade fuses.
I love my cottage. I used locking pins to attach the bench seat instead of bolts so I could stack if I needed to. 10 seconds to pull the pins. You can fish 2 adults but, the person sitting on the front part of the sled needs to be ready if the other stands up. The sled may tip.
I put leds in my otter. Put a 12v battery in an small ammo box that I added 2 12v outlet to. The battery stays in the shelter and is charged by a 6 amp charger via cigarette plug adapter. The charge goes straight to float charge. It’s like having on onboard charger in your boat.
I used pvc trim from Menards and it works great. It doesn’t bend like the hyfax does so, I used a heat gun to soften it and molded it to the tub. $25 total.
Never too early. There’s a new Otter being modified in my basement right now.
I went to Menards and bought some 5/8 x 1 1/2 pvc trim and it works like a charm. $25 and its held up. I used a heat gun to mold it into the shape of the sled. I found that it’s not necessary to counter sink the bolt bolts. Tighten them up until they sink.
The Eskimo silvertip 8″ cut fast for the first 6″. After that my drill battery took a crap. Need to update my drill now. That’ll make the wife happy.
Try putting it back down a previously drilled hole and running it for a while. Better than beating on it.
The engine # should be stamped or on a metal sticker somewhere around the spark plug.
You are correct meateater94. It wasn’t the cause of the hydro locking. It broke when removing the tank. I rebuilt the carburetor and that solved the issue. Tecumseh may be out of business but, there are tons of replacement parts out there. I guy just needs to be willing to search and not rely on what someone tells them.
Got the jiffy back up and running like a champ. Also went with the Eskimo silver tip 8″. Will report on performance.
In order for me to be able to read mine I had to set the gain so high I blew all my friends flashers out. Took it back and went with the lx5.
The only problem I have with my full thermal nanook is the depth of the sled. It’s a lot of fabric to fold up and a deeper sled would be easier when packing. I would also like to see them add a skirt on the front of the sled like the Otters.
An inverter is a hell of an idea. I love this website and forum for all of the ideas.
I’m not a motor guy so, it’s just going to take some tinkering. I guarantee I’ll be a 2 cycle motor guy by the time it’s done.
Thanks guys. I’m definitely going with an 8″ but, won’t be punching a ton of holes. My jiffy is leaking fuel and no matter what I replace it won’t stop. I’m not giving up on it I just want an economical alternative.
The reason I took a chance on it is because I started using some custom rods. My old bag just wasn’t going to protect them enough. Probably didn’t protect my old rods enough. I couldn’t be more happy with it.
I’m the exact same way. I’m glad they came out with. Now if only work would cooperate so I could go.
I’ve done this for a while and it works great. I just use the smaller top grill that’s attached to my gas grill cut to length. Never used it grilling anyway.
I used pvc house trim on my nanook. Works great. I used a heat gun to soften it up and molded it to the sled. Just don’t counter sink the holes. Drill through the pvc and sled. When you tighten the bolt the head will sink in.
