I bought into the dinner bell hype last year. I absolutely crushed walleyes on the Winnebago system with them. Honestly, any gold or silver spoon will do the job but the dinner bell was on fire a few days!

I have ordered dinner bells in the past with great success. Obviously, if you are ordering with ice season upon us you may have to wait.

I hand pull the otter cabin early ice and it is probably the hardest workout I get all year. It sucks, to say the least. Once ice gets thick enough I use a snowmobile. I will have to say on glare ice it ain’t too bad so I guess it depends on where you live. I also have a harness that does help tremendously. It is nice to be hands-free especially when spudding out early ice!

I think you guys just need to break them in for a season. I have the hardwater and it took a good 20-30 outings to get it to not be so stiff. Most comfortable jacket bibs I have ever owned. I have owned a lot of jacket bibs in my day!

I have had my buddy heater for 6 years. I transport it in my sled well running across the lake beating the urine out of it. It has a broken handle and some other issues but it always fire’s up. My guess problem was human error!?!?

Talk about a rhetorical question!!! Can’t beat a braided line to a SeaGuar leader using a double uni knot!

    Also, my go-to!

I mount mine in flip-overs. Here’s pics of my first shack, a Clam Kenai thermal. I now have Buddys mounted in two Otter Hideouts and a Big Buddy in a Lodge.

You don’t need nearly as much front clearance as I thought, maybe 10″ tops, when they’re on low-BTU settings. I don’t ever use the high BTU settings. Heat seems to come out and up from the burners at about a 45 degree angle. I never burned a thing, but I’m very careful not to let rod tips and gear get close.

This is an awesome Idea! I always wanted to do this in my otter cabin but I have then bench seat I still might give it a try!

Opening up an old thread here… did a quick search and couldn’t find quite what I was looking for and didn’t want to start new one.

Received a Precision as a Christmas gift… Now for the reel? What all do you recommend? I’d prefer one that I can purchase at Scheel’s because I have some money to spend there….

Also curious if anybody has any recommendations on the size of the precision? I have a 28″, but kind of wanted a 32″. Most of my fishing is done hole hopping or in a portable. I’m a taller guy…

I own the 36″ and it is amazing if you are standing and fishing. On bago you need to move a lot so I spend a lot of time outside shack!

In all honesty I have played many hours on both the lx7 and now the helix g2. I would immediately take it back and buy a helix unit. I am not bashing I just know from personal experience the helix unit is better!

Does chirp even work with the ice ducer ? Pretty sure it doesn’t with my Lowrance.

Yes it works with the right ice ducer

They don’t bite to much on Winnebago in the winter but you do occasionally get one.In the summer you can’t keep them off your line some days

I bought the helix 5 g2 with bag and ducer all in one in early Jan and I was told it was 1 of 6 left in the state. I looked every where because I wanted the 7. So my guess is they didn’t think they would take off like they did. Unit is awesome to say the least!

Great choice you will not be disappointed! I personally would stay away from marcum anything! I have seen so many bad reviews the past few years!

I can only speak on the 5 gen 2 It is a awesome unit. I changed from the lowrance elite 5 and the bird is crisper faster separation looks insane with the sharpness. Duel graph mode with zoom is pretty awesome iv ran the 5g2 for 12 hours on half brightness and had 70% life left

I have had zero problems fishing next to other units with helix 5 gen 2. It is a amazing machine. I had the lowrance elite 5 ice machine for 4 years prior and the helix unit with chirp is so much better!!

So just to clarify, your original post was the same day you received products?

You didn’t even give em a call before the original post? Business emails IMO are 24hr response time. If it’s urgent enough to rant online, I’d at least call first.

So did you even read his original post? He had a bad experience the first time they messed up when he phoned them?

This thread is a perfect example of how the internet can be used irresponsibly by consumers. The old adage “there’s two sides to every story” should guide the response of those reading threads like this.

I think the G2 could be better than a Marcum LX 6,7, and 9 if the interference can be controlled. It sounds like G2 has accomplished this. In addition I have Hummin bird graphs on my boat 788ci and 898 ci. Humminbird does a great job providing firm ware updates. Better than Marcum has in the past with the LX7. I really wanted to like the lX7 but no updates for 2 years I decided to sell it. Wait till they get it figured out. But now the G2 Helix has me thinking
    Bob

With all the complaints about marcum I sure am glad I never jumped on the bandwagon. I understand all units have issues but dam marcum has to top the list with complaints. I have owned a lowrance elite 5 and loved it so much the last 5 years but seeing the chirp in action on the hbirds I had to go out and get one I am patiently waiting for mine to come in the mail.

I believe the regular XT models use the cheaper sleds?

I have the XT and the sled is so great not sure if they are different at all but I could be wrong

Once you use the graph mode and amplitude meter. I promise you will never look at flasher mode again. I have had the elite 5 going on 5 years and I love it.

The heavy duty frabil is so solid I bet you could run it over with a atv and it wouldn’t do a thing. I have had many rod cases this one was the ticket!

I seen some of the TUCR rods at scheels…..with that said I tried so hard to justify spending 100 but all 4 rods they carried felt so cheap to me. Also not having a seat for my reel was a downer for me I hate tapping on the reel! I could get 2-3 quality rods for that price! I think they are just hype for people to say they have a “custom” rod!

Only issue iv had so far is I feel the plastic pieces that connect the pole to the button system are cheap. It almost seems the plastic pieces are flimsy when its extended all the way out. I just hope they don’t break! I have the xt cabin new to this year!
