I will be planting rye for a great late season plot. In the same areas I will also be planting brassica’s for a great mid to late October bowhunting plot. With our deer density’s the brassicas will be demolished by late October unless you are planting acre’s of it. The rye will keep them around all winter!

May 8, 2013 at 6:03 pm #130371I disc’d up one plot a 1.5 weeks ago just before the 12″ of wet snow. I fertilized and re-planted a clover plot the day before the storm. It actually worked great for that, really got the seed in and along with that moisture I noticed it was starting to pop up today when I was back there turkey hunting.
Hoping to do corn in the next week or so. This soil is well drained, other spots are still to moist and cold around here. Farmers getting very nervous!
November 17, 2012 at 11:16 pm #1113085Agree 100% with Jesse, $10 to get in and a person could walk through talk with everyone and be out in less than an hour. I wanted to see more tackle and actual items for sale. Yes there were plenty of Ice Castles and few other brands but that was it.
Save your money.

What realy get me is that they put the apr zone in the south eastern part of the state… That area had the best potential for producing big deer already,I wish they would branch out or start another zone. As a big deer lover its not fair at all for me or any other trophy hunters that we have to hunt in areas that people clearly dont care what they shoot!
Our farms in Missouri are prime example of APR working on a single farm I surveyed at least 15 bucks over 3 years old on 320 acres, its amazing, deer that I would save pictures of in MN dont get more than a glance and a mouse click! Everybody likes mature deer with big raxx, but what gets me going is young deer with big racks year old 110 inch 8 points and 2 year old 6x6s to me displays that by having a better age structure in the herd wecan ensure the transfer of the best genetics!
I hear you Ben. Wish they would just enact it everywhere! Most of my spots are literally within a couple miles of the magical line that is not included in the rule. I have to say these spots are getting better also with people being more selective but I would love to have to force some of the neighbors to actually see what they are shooting. As I always say, if you are going to throw the rack in the corner or for the dog to play with, please shoot a doe instead!

I love that video where they switch spots and whack two really nice bucks. Bill and his staff are doing a great job!
I can’t say enough good things about Bill and MWW.
Agreed, love the show and also love whats happening with the APR. I hunt one property in that zone and its amazing the 2.5-4.5 year old bucks on camera this year!
September 30, 2012 at 8:31 pm #124095To each their own. That being said if you shoot a buck and throw the horns in the corner of the garage in a box, shoot a doe instead and give that guy a chance to mature.
September 30, 2012 at 8:28 pm #124094I have seemed to notice more daytime movement via trailcams during fullmoon periods.
To clarify, more mid-day movement.

The pics from augest are in, very pleased with the amount of decent bucks moving during the day. I REALLLLLY want a big 8 this year!
Me to!!!!
August 29, 2012 at 2:04 pm #122501I would say 10K easy on the coverts! I haven’t kept track but I know I am at 7-8K pictures on each of mine this summer and both still show 3/4 battery life.
I did break down and by a cheap Moultrie this summer, requires C batteries. I am at about 3000 pics with that one and its still showing 60%. No doubt its much slower to trigger than the coverts though. No chance this camera would work in any place other than a mineral sight or scrape come fall, way to slow. Quality of pics o.k.
Very impressed with my Coverts so far!

I change mine once a year. But then a gain, I get a new bow every year also…
Not in the cards for me this year either, maybe I should look at that as well.
August 27, 2012 at 12:51 pm #122397Those look great Bob, thanks for keeping the deer fat and happy!

So it’s ok for others to trespass without her knowing then?
No, but its not your right unless you have a signed lease agreement or a signed paper stating that you are the land manager.
Believe me, I can’t stand trespassers but you cannot just start throwing signs up. If she has given you the permission just talk with her about it. Just my .02 cents
