It has been slow. I picked up a couple of short walleye in 30′ water. Talked to the fish survey guy Sunday at the cleaning station and he said there wasn’t a walleye turned in all day.

Bob which lake were you on…north and east of Sherman is Davis. Would that be it by chance?
October 10, 2009 at 3:25 am #808311We fished there Wed. also and had good luck. Picked up about 30 white bass, 5 walleye, and a 42″ flathead on jigging spoons.
December 21, 2008 at 12:12 am #730402We talked to a guy fishing there and he had just started. That is where we saw the depth. There were a couple of guys set up over by the prairie dogs with a quad on the ice.

December 19, 2008 at 2:22 pm #730096We drove up there Wed. The ice along the dam was about 2″ thick and then the wind broke it up and piled it up for several hundred yards out. It has refrozen and looks worse than the moon surface. There is no way you could ride a quad over it without tearing the machine apart. 8″ of ice back in trail 8 and rest of lake is pretty smooth.

March 18, 2008 at 7:09 pm #666700We were by there the other day and it also looks like they have dumped rocks on the dam along the poured concrete line north of the overflow. There is also an addition of buried tires and gravel on the sw end of the dam on the flats there.
May 17, 2007 at 2:56 am #572022Thanks for the report Brian and it was good meeting you also. I appreciate the emails you send my way. Glad to hear your buddy got to get a bunch of “eyes”. I also landed a perch on the point that day and have only got a couple in the years I’ve fished there. Say hi to Sara for me. Wibbs
March 27, 2007 at 3:52 pm #553886It looked like they were getting the nets ready to put out yesterday.
February 27, 2007 at 4:50 am #542093I agree with Ben in that Davis Creek has a much larger problem with shad overpopulation than Sherman. We had a hard time finding large schools of shad this fall at Sherman and the white bass were thus harder to find. I think at this point it would be good to leave Sherman alone.
January 9, 2007 at 7:45 pm #520367We fish Davis quite a bit throughout the year. Ben is right in that the spring seems to be the best time for walleye. It is very hard to find a pattern and we have been trying for years. There are also a lot of crappie but it is hard to catch anything over 10″ most of the time. Once in awhile you might hang a good one.
November 6, 2006 at 3:45 am #496299I run a fish hawk 1750 with walk thru windshield. I have a Johnson 90 hp two stroke. I can run 40 mph and have good hole shot. I have heard there is quite a difference when going to a four stroke. I think a larger motor would be good and would go to an etec next time, but this one does what I need it too.
