Bill: The grandkids are really cute in those pics. But did you have to post those couple big ugly guys.
OK Brian. Payback will be coming….
March 28, 2008 at 12:00 pm #570341They are good through the end of April, new one is necessary May 1st.
March 23, 2008 at 3:45 pm #668400I just saw the show and enjoyed it very much. It’s always neat to recognize some of the spots being fished. John is a great guide that will put you on fish, not to mention great company for a day of fishing. Nice show John!
March 21, 2008 at 9:01 am #667716I have not heard from anyone who has been to either Chester or Gamehaven recently. Chances are pretty good that the shorelines at both places are getting open water, thus making it difficult to reach good ice.
There are still people fishing Foster’s (stay away from the beach area), and Lake Zumbro by Fisherman’s Inn.March 19, 2008 at 1:09 pm #666926There is still about 20 inches of ice on the area of the lake being fished – Fisherman’s Inn. You need to walk out the green dock and then step onto the ice. Best part is that some real nice crappies are being caught! Minnows have been producing as well as some plastics.
March 17, 2008 at 10:29 am #665997Oh yeah, read right past Sandy Point….
The gates are shut because of the “no wake” status in effect right now.March 17, 2008 at 12:07 am #665917The gate is shut so that no one will attempt to get a vehicle to the ice. The shoreline has water around it now and would not support a vehicle. I think we will still have ice to fish on for a while. You just need to access the ice from the green dock in front of Fisherman’s. Minnows have been doing very well for crappies out in front of Fisherman’s.
March 14, 2008 at 8:36 am #665298I see that the water level has risen 1.5 ft. in the last few days. With all the melted snow, that will probably continue and will be another reason to be very careful near the shorelines. The ice will pull away from the shoreline in conditions like this.

I bought a temporary heater. Need to get mine fixed before this coming weekend.
Mike we pulled in two Doug Mercer size gills…like moments after you left….then my partner chipped his nails, so we said goodbye to Dan and headed home.
We’ll have to get together after the Lake of the Woods outing…and get the rest of the guys out there too…make a wagon circle with the houses so we can yak…a bit more.
Petert had a good time…I’m working in the morning so I’ll get the report up Monday night I’m guessing.
Bill…you should have stopped out!
Have you ever noticed that I NEVER hear about these meetings on the ice until afterwards. Can’t imagine why…somebody trying to tell me something?
ps. BK, are you coming to the Rochester get together? Hope to see you there. Save me a spot for bsing in your ice house like last time. Maybe we will even pay attention enough [not] to catch some fish.
Let’s just say that you are predictable Bill…. The other word that comes to mind is whimp.
January 21, 2008 at 1:44 am #645604The fish were there, just a tougher bite. Next time, we can crank up the thermostat about 40 degrees for Billy so that he can come out to play too.
January 20, 2008 at 8:47 pm #645543I’m just back home after a rather cold outing. Poor BK found out his heater didn’t work, so had to make a run to town in order to buy a new one. Of course he missed the best bite while gone. I had 5 crappies by the time he got back. I sure like my Yukon shelter and new heater! The air temp was -21 when I pulled up to the lake this morning!!!
January 20, 2008 at 1:49 pm #645445OK, I think the Zumbro will be good to us. The ice is plenty thick, even for Bill but he still won’t try it. See you in a little bit, dress warm!
January 15, 2008 at 9:36 am #643549Sorry Derek to hear of your Mom’s passing. Take comfort in knowing she is with our Lord now. God bless.
January 9, 2008 at 4:23 pm #641262I think it should be OK. The level has not changed much even though the flow has increased, and that should be back down within a couple days.
January 3, 2008 at 7:36 pm #639319Hi Peterson,
I hope you notice that the previous date on this is almost 2 years old. We will be having a Rochester GTG, but more details will be coming later.
Thanks,
Mike
