    PS:
Before ya all ride my arse, I have two very close friends who are deputies, a high school friend who is a cop, and a cousin who is a state trooper. I have nothing against the those who wear the shield to protect and serve.

As long as they protect and serve.

Ok, I guess I’m the one that is wrong.
It is good that they pulled this drunk off the street so he didn’t hurt himself, or any other.

I wonder if you can get a DWI if he would have rode a horse to town?
    Makes sense right? He should.
Maybe we should have WWI (walking while intoxicated). I know there is PI (public intoxications), but you are right. People who have any type of alcohol in their system should be charged with a $10,000 total cost offense. They should be stripped of their license, thrown in jail for 90 days, take classes, be at high risk insurance for 10 years, forbidden to go into Canada, and have to pay the courts about $5,000 in fines/fees.

    Ride a car
    Ride a lawnmower
Ride a chair with a motor.
    Ride a horse
    All should get DWIs!

Heck, my wife rides my azz both drunk and sober……We should give her a DWI too!

In the meantime, the law enforcement/judicial system let’s the meth-heads run wild.

Drunk driving a VEHCILE is not a joke.
    This is a joke.
This is a crime that this guy is getting a DWI for this.
In the meantime, while the revenue generation is still in play for the city/county of focusing on DWI monies, there are still a TON of meth labs that the cops are afraid to address.

It has become so bad, that the common citizen knows where the meth labs are, but for some reason, the local deputies are too tied up in mass quantities, rallying at the local cafe, watching the bar across the street, to nab anyone that walks out because they might be drunk.
In the meantime, meth dealings are happening right under their Barney Fife nose.

It has become so bad, that a local deputy told me he would rather work in north Minneapolis instead of going to a domestic call in a small town where the meth is known to be manufactured. So, instead, what do they do? They look for DWI money.

    So,
When we send 40,000 more troops to occupy Afghanistan.
When we send troops into Pakistan to occupy that country.
When things heat back up in Iraq in the next 6 months and more soldiers die.
When Iran and Israel actually go head-to-head, and we are there throwing troops and weapons to Israel.
When the next terror attack is not thwarted and we retaliate against Sudan…..

Will he be considered “peaceful” then?
    Will he forfeit his prize?

Wife wore some “revealing” lingere to bed last night.
I made my “moves” only to be shot down.
She said she wasn’t in the mood.

I took my wife diamond shopping today for her birthday.
    She tried on it all.
I told her she could have it all.

When we went to the cash register to pay…….
I yawned and said I wasn’t in the mood.

    Then the fight started….

I said, hey you buy makeup.

She said that was to make her look pretty……..

I said, that is what my beer is for………

I had an ’05 Merc 60 4S, which as shipped had the idle rpm set way too high. The 40 is a very similiar powerhead, but since you can’t tell what your rpms are at idle, either install a tach on it, or take it to a dealer and have him check it out. The idle screw on mine was non-adjustable, but the fix is to file-down the screw tip a bit, so the throttle stop closes more.

Is this motor on the same boat that the ’98 2 stroke was on?

Also, what boat is this motor on?

What are the RPMs at idle?
The RPMs are crucial to know how your motor is running.
You might be idling at 1000rpms instead of the factory recommended settings of ?

The daughter told investigators Saturday that they had been walking on a sandbar that was about chest-high deep when a wave washed them into the water.

Prematurely speaking, is sounds to me like one of those big azz boats came by, throwing a massive wake, that pulled the woman underwater and killed her. If that is the case, a wave, as stated, the boater killed this woman and per MN law, the boater is liable for his wake.

Too many IQ deficient operators are in boats on the water.

If this is true, what I’m interpreting, the operator of the boat should be locked up for negligible homicide.

That “wave” killed the mother of a 13 year old daughter, right in front of the poor girls eyes.

    With all due respect.

In order to “cut out the fat”, you had to get fat first. That means at one point in time, you were lean.

    How did you get fat?

The writing was on the wall.

That writing was on the wall for a long time.
People have been spending money like drunken sailers on boats, ATVs, snomobiles, cabins, harleys, etc for many years now. People say the economy over the last 8 years has been bad, but all of this spending boom occured from 2000 to today. Every tom-harry-dick leased $40k trucks or purchased new every 2 years plus gave their wife a big SUV, justifying it by stating is was a safety factor.

10 years ago, we heard about cabelas coming our way. 8 years ago, gander mountain was a hole-in-the-wall tackle shop. Today they have graphite rods that can feel a walleye breathe for $400 and $30 bass crankbaits.

I’m not saying this is a bad thing. I’m just saying that when people had the opportunity to spend expendable monies, they did it very well.

Problem: 99% of it all is financed and not owned.
I don’t know too many people that own, free and clear:
    $40k SUV or truck
    $40k fishing boat
    $5k duck boat
    $5k atv
    $15k harley
    $5k snomobile

But there is a schnizzle load of folks around here that got em.

They are saying because of the war and unemployment that they are doing cut-backs. The war has been going on for 7 years. unemployment is still at a 20yr low.
The housing market blew up and rest assured the oil market will blow up by this fall and we will see $2.00 gas again. I would say by Oct, we will see $2.00 gas.

This is no different that the roaring 20s.

Has anyone been out hitting Crystal for bass? I’ll be out there Tuesday evening hopefully haulin’ em in. Curious if its anything like orchard or Marion. Crazy weeds right now?

I was out on Crystal last week, they had two milfoil “cleaners”? tried the bay with little luck, saw a couple but wanted nothing to do with anything. pitched topwater, jerkbaits, spinner baits, worms. . .nothing. . .I did get out about 11 i think it was so I’m sure they had seen a few boats comin through. Had a few “joy riders” fly by my 16′ northwoods aluminum with fricken wakeboarders/skiiers comin 15′ from my boat, love that. . .so after dealing with a few passes from them and a few other boaters flyin by me I gave up on the lake. they scared me right out of there. As for the weeds, it was starting to get more and more, but not quite a true Crystal weedline.

    Shoot/n/release;
the RAM mount balls are already rubber coated. They stick good, but when you have a heavy electronic bouncing, they give unless you crank the snot out of it.

It is pretty hard to not go with a Johnny Ray mount considering they have been fool proof and unbreakable for so many years. You just never hear a complaint about them. They are easy to use, reasonably priced, last forever.

If I’m going to invest $1800 in a locator, I don’t want to need a PhD to interpret what it’s telling me.

If this is honestly how you feel, life has not been good to you my friend. There are only two reasons for you to make a comment like this.

    1) You suffer from “If it’s in my boat, it’s the best thing on the market, and I must do all I can to convince myself and everybody around me that I have superior equipment” disease. This disease is actually more like a plague, and it infests local boat launches, and oddly enough, the internet.

    2) You honestly believe it takes a Ph D to look at a picture of a group of sticks that converge into one large “trunk” like structure, and infer that there is a tree under water. Or look at a “U” shaped object that shows a depth change, and infer there is a ditch under water. Or have a screen point to that group of sticks and say “83 ft” and infer that the tree is 83 feet away from you.

If reason #2 holds up, well then I hate to inform you that you fell below the “bell” curve of Hummingbird’s intellectual target, and that is really unfortunate…for you.

If reason #1 holds up, stop being a poser. The truest test of the side imaging technology is all the pros SPONSORED BY LOWRANCE buying the hummingbird side imaging systems for their rigs. I was at the classic this Feb. and I lost count on the number of rigs that had Lowrance units in their dash, and Hummingbird everywhere it mattered.

    No!
They are two completely different functions operated on the same hydraulic motor.

The “tilt” is the motor drive to actually tilt the motor up/down via hydraulics. The actual “tilt” power is not very strong and would not be able to “lift” a motor under full power load at any hi-speeds.

“Trim” is a different section of your “tilt/trim”. The trim is generally two hydraulic rams (silver looking bars) protruding on the engine mount by the transom. These two rams have the “power” and are able to push (tilt) the motor up under hi-speeds.

When you raise your motor, you will hear a “dull” pitch hydraulic sound and the motor generally moves up slowly…….until…….you reach the maximum setting/reach of your trim. Then the “tilt” section of your hydraulics takes over and you hear a “higher pitch” sound and the motor moves up higher and will also move faster. If you look under your motor at this time, you will see your two chrome looking, 1″ diameter, 8″ long hydraulic bars. These are the trim rams I was speaking of above.

    Now,
Garvi asked about adding a tilt/trim to his 40hp tiller. All depends on the year of your motor. If you have a “late” model you could probably contact the manufacture. If it is an early model, you can add a CMC tilt/trim to your motor for around $500. They are a big bolt on and actually give you an engine set back of about 4″.

It is a pure waste of money.
If the oil bath hubs were “the thing of the future”.

Then cars would have them on the front hubs with their “hot brakes”.

All cars would have them…….how many times do car bearings go out? We drive in rain, grit, grime, dust.

The reason grease bearings go out is primarily due to design and lack of proper maintenance and ALSO lack of ability for a “fisherman” to replace the bearings correctly.

It was stated that oil bath is better than grease because of water. Grease is “water resistent” too.

    CORRECT!!!!!!!
Oil bath is in a plastic housing that once broken, you are stranded. Bearing caps and bearing buddies have you covered.

99.99% of the people who have Bearing Buddys have failure because they “overpump” grease into their bearings, breaking the seal.

All of your bearing problems can be resolved IF you ensure your seal is always in good shape.
If the seal is in good shape, then no water will enter.

LED LIGHTS? What? You using these LED lights to drive??? What the heck do you need them for? Because you neighbor has them???

All a good marketing ploy to make a buck! $1,000,000 idea that once again, I didn’t invent!

Can’t say I run that far back even in open water out on Mille Lacs.

Am I the only one that caught this?
Dude; Even in my great vast, lack of knowledge, inexperience of pulling boards/cranks on Superior for Salmon we go back as far as 300feet. But our baits aren’t running any deeper than they would at 100feet. You should know this if you have ocean fished.

People on the river don’t go back 300 feet because you loose your boat control in the aspect of contour trolling. How the hell are you suppose to keep your crank on the breakline or in the zone when trolling a river channel at 300feet?

    Erick;

Take a 3 foot section of mono.
Bend it in a 1/4 moon.
With your finger tip, roll one end of the line, ever so gently.
If you hold the other end of the line with your finger tips, you will feel EVERYTHING!!!

If you do the same test with braid, the braid will not transfer vibrations on “limp” line.

Braid only transfers vibration when it is taught.

That is why the Sensation is such a good mono. When you pitch it out, and you have a big bow in the line, you will still feel all the “sensitivity” that you wouldn’t feel on a braid.

You might think that it is minimal, but holy crap, there is a lot there!

If a Honda 4-stroke car can run for 200-300k miles, why wouldn’t a short-stroke, 4-stroke hold up for many, many years?

I agree there are less moving parts of a 2 stroke, but any high-horsepower 2 stroke is going to blow powerheads. That is Yamaha, Merc, and Evinrude 2 strokes.

Are these 4 stroke engines made to run at 5-6,000 RPMs for prolonged periods of time? Most cars I know of run around 2,000 RPMs.

No dude……they are all made to operate at 1000rpms with a redline of 1001rpms.

Come on and think about your response a little.
The vast majority of “Honda cars” operate at a minimum of 3000rpm for normal operating range of prime fuel efficiency/power (cruise speed of 60mph).

The same argument could be applied and dismantled for your I/O outboards too. How many 2.8l V6 chevys or 350 V8 chevys are designed to operate at 5000rpms? Hey, those motors are doing that in boats. Dude, what about big-block, 454 or 502 chevs in the big cruisers? They are operating at 4000 or 5000 rpms. Point is, these are marine motors and are built for the specific purpose.

I didn’t say Honda car motors are in boats.
What I did say that if Honda is smart enough to build a 300k mile car, I think the 4-stroke boat motor is a little more reliable than what is being applied here.

Here is my experience over the years:

Fireline: a “stiff” line, flat too. Repels water, but frays really bad and doesn’t hold its color (fades).
Good trolling line for open water and weeds. 10lb or less can be very “brittle”, knots breaking way too easy.

Powerpro: Soft line, but it has a tendency to “bite” into the spool on the smaller sizes. If the spool isn’t wound “excessively” tight, problems occur with both backlash and the line biting into the spool of all sizes. Also, some colors fade excessively. Good trolling line and holds up better around rocks than fireline.

Spiderwire Stealth: I put this in the middle of Fireline and Powerpro. Very forgiving on spooling and holds up to abrasion as well as Power pro. But spools better than power pro. Much stiffer than power pro, which makes pitching/casting a little “difficult”. Stiff like Fireline. Doesn’t absorb water as bad as powerpro, but more than Fireline.

Original Spiderwire. Still my all time favorite. Softer than fireline and more abrasion resistent. Spools better than Powerpro and more forgiving. Almost “too soft” and limp, where casting can catch the line around a guide on the rod and snap off your lure. Not good because of that.

Trolling: It is good to have abrasion resistent lines when needed. It is also good to have a “stiffer” line when needed. (fireline, stealth)

Casting/pitching: Good to have a limper line that is more abrasive resistent (powerpro, Original Spiderwire).

I haven’t had the opprotunity yet to use Suffix or Stren, but I haven’t heard anything negative about them yet!
