The trip swap forum was a good suggestion.

The most popular place to shorefish in Minneapolis with chance of success(walleyes) is the Minnehaha Creek – Mississippi River Confluence. It can be quite busy, but the fishing can be decent. Pool 2 and south is the only place you can target walleyes because the regular season isnt open yet, p2 is a catch and release only fishery.

It is a bit of a walk to get down there, lots of stairs. If you want directions there, send me a PM.

Maybe I will check on the trip swap forum as well didn’t even think of that. I would only be doing catch and release, and what do you mean the season isn’t open yet?

What Dave means is that in Minnesota right now the only walleye fishing you can legally do is on Pool 2, Pool 3 (Prescott on downstream), Pool 4, 5, etc., and the Rainy River/ Canadian boundry waters. Everywhere else it is closed in the state until May.

Whoops! I forgot the North and South Dakota border waters open late April as well as the St. Croix opens late April too. That is the problem with Minnesota. You got to many rules and exceptions to them!

I don’t think the tree is big enough for the two of us Glen, so I’ll sit in a different one. But I’m with you on the cooler weather…can’t wait for the skeeters to disappear.

Come on September, can’t wait to get rid of this hot and humid crap. Makes for short shooting sessions. I guess I don’t mind waiting a little bit more, besides it seems like I was just sittin in a tree not too long ago….

Looking forward to 32 degrees. Went out this morning to put up a camera and the mosquitos and deer flies are thick..and hungry. Sept hunting may be tough in lower areas this year. But yeah – can’t wait to be in a tree.
