Looking to do some side work for some extra cash this summer…small construction work around the house, concrete driveways, sidewalks, garage floors etc. I’m located in western WI. I work in St. Paul/Minneapolis area I work for a union general contractor. Let me know if interested in having any projects done around the house.

Not a good topic for a Licensed Contractor who has an elevator license is lead certified is required to take continuing education pays liability insurance, workers comp, mn unemploymnet, and corporate taxes also legally responsible for warranty work.

Do you buy a fishing license?

Been working union for 14 years never had an issue…like Gregory said a ton of guys do side work weekly. I know more that do side work than don’t.

Side work doesn’t mean it is illegal. I have worked with a couple union guys that did side work and they have licensed businesses for their side work.

Can you clarify for us non-union folks exactly what you mean here?

    Sure,
Both fishing and contracting (there are caveats) require a license.
So if you fish, get a license and if you are a contractor, get a license.

It has nothing to do with being either a member or non-member of a Union.
