Folks if your planning a trip in the future to Lake Winnie/Cutfoot or if your looking for a five star resort or maybe you need a new place to bring that family or business trip, Check out the Bowen Lodge banner to see what they have to offer. Bill, Gail and Bob Hieg are the owners of Bowen Lodge and I hope to get Bill involved with the site from time to time. If your after a great 3-4 day fall outing, they have some specials on packages in September, this is when the fall fishing really heats up for those magunum perch to the eyes and slab crappies, its a great time to be fishing Winnie and to see the beauty of Northern Minnesota.
If nothing else drop them a note saying hi and thanks for getting involved with FTL. This is just another part of making FTL top notch.

I have been staying at Bowen Lodge since 1975 and now have a summer trailer there. Sean is right when he says it is 5 stars. One of the greatest advantages to Bowen is that while the cabins sit on the high banks of Winnie (what a view) the boat landing and docks are on Cut Foot Souix. With some of the windly days of recent weeks it has been nice to have Cut Foot as a back up when the big lake is too rough. There are some good hot spots for walleye within 200 yards of the docks. Just ask Bob and he will show you where he catches most of his fish. Hope to see you all there some day.

Looking for that great fall trip. Look to Bowens Lodge as they are having some great end of the season specials, either give them a call or check out the website. Click on the above banner to see what is offered. Just a little fishing information for those of you that might or have not fished on Winnie/Cutfoot in the fall. The fall migration of walleyes starts in late August or early September, when the water temps begin to drop. When the temps start dropping those Bowen flats and Cutfoot areas fill up with the walleyes. The walleyes are normally putting the feed bag on trying to get that last bit of food before are ice season, making for some of the best fishing of the year.
Techniques used in the fall are pretty much jig and minnows. The fall bite also brings on the awesome crappie fishing. Walleyes in the morning, crappies in the afternoon, boy it doesn’t get any better then that.
Well its hard to believe were talking fall already, but we are pushing August. So if your looking for some Fun-Fall-Fishing with a great place to stay….Take a look at Bowens Lodge On Lake Winnie.
